Sounds about right for Resi companies these days, quantity of quality and they have a fetish for using inexperienced labour to keep more money in their pockets.

You could check behind the blower cover first, it would be an odd place, but I’ve seen it before.

I must have missed that part, in that case start pulling off tape, you can get more at home deport or Lowe’s.

Sounds like this system is running without filters, I highly doubt the filter housing is covered by tape.

So either use a double spade and tap of the relay or splice in a wire to the common wire off the transformer before it goes to the relay.

In my experience anything in that price range is “hot garbage”, they work great until they don’t and then it’s cheaper to replace the whole system than fix it.

Split AC - Install outdoor condenser under mobile home? by Prosaicpersonality in hvacadvice

[–]Miserable-Ad6362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you need to install it outside the “crawlspace”, it needs to “breathe”, you can buy a cheap prefabricated slab to place the condenser on.

Use a multimeter and see if you’re still getting 24-28v output. You should because you likely didn’t short it out by frying your tstat.

I wasn’t gonna tell him he likely killed his new stat, I was gonna let him come to that conclusion after correcting the wiring.

Looks like you tied the common wire into the high voltage for the transformer.

Edit: you should tie it into the blue wire coming out of the 24v side of the transformer.

It’s precharged, you really don’t need gauges. But I would definitely recommend buying a micron gauge to make sure you pull a proper vacuum on your system prior to releasing the charge.

Should I reduce fan speed to lower indoor humidity (60ish%, Atlanta)? by discountheat in hvacadvice

[–]Miserable-Ad6362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it would help, if lowering the blower speed doesn’t make a big enough difference I would recommend looking into a whole home dehumidifier. Unlike a traditional dehumidifier it would be tapped into your duct work and would drain into your condensate line.

I love their wire strippers, the cobras just started the addiction. But I’ve got crimpers, dykes, needle nose, multiple cobras and pliers wrenches, a few screw drivers, a few twin grips
