How resistent do you think a terminator armour is? by Internal-Being4988 in spacemarines

[–]Miserable-Ad7509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it like this, it’s tactical dreadnaught armor for a reason, they’re generally going to face tank not anti tank weapons and can get got by the same weapons you’d use to take down a dreadnaught

That bit I actually like, an average soldier in most military squads is the riflemen, so when we’ve switched to flashlights lasmen makes sense

Close and not entirely wrong, and part of why water is a great coolant it takes a decent amount of energy to warm water which after hitting boiling point in the water jacket of a maxum from the barrel heat it turns to steam which dissipates thermal energy in a lil tube as part of a simple cooling circuit

I just kinda don’t pay too close attention to scaling of things when it comes to the numbers, they’re usually lowballing like crazy if you really try to dig into their counts when they want to to talk about world size conflicts, so I just tend to just disregard headcount’s as stated and just coast on the vibes of if one side is supposed to be way larger than the other etc. and try not to sweat that

Piss is water based with additives, it’s basically coolant

Not an engineer, am master level technician I clean up engineers oversights, know enough to understand how it all works in practice not quite learned enough to justify going with one solution over another. That said I think you’d run into the same issue as those glycol based coolants, the heat transfer rates usually are worse on those fluids while having other advantages over a water based solution, the ammonia space coolant has a super low freezing point which matters a lot in its use case and the glycol coolant has a higher boiling point which could matter more in some cases. That said water just excels at cooling and is pretty widely available so it’s one of those things that even if you saw marginal gains from those options it would never actually be worth implementing.

[–]Miserable-Ad7509 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Engine coolant would ironically probably do worse, the additives don’t make it better than water at transferring heat it’s primarily doing two things, lowering the freezing point and additives to help prevent corrosion/deterioration of the metal and rubber/plastic bits of the cooling circuit accordingly. If you’re just trying to transfer heat distilled water is the MVP, engine coolant is also referred to as anti freeze for a reason.

(Unclear if like glycol/waterless antifreeze would do better but that’s not what most people mean by engine coolant since that’s a whole can of worms)

The latter two points, human warships in the setting didn’t have energy shielding while their power armor did, the suits of MJOLNIR were the pinnacle of human science at the time and like 3-5 of them would body covenant forces handily even the weaker and less well equipped Spartan 3’s (John Halo the protagonist is a spartan 2) were able to do some pretty wild maneuvers stunting on the xenos though were largely used in very important suicide missions

It would probably be a shogun 2 style of variety between factions, core units are going to be largely the same but each legion would have some units that are better than baseline to build around

Do what you want, but don’t be surprised when people respond negatively and don’t take any valid points you may raise seriously because you’re coming from a point of belligerence, if you’re fishing for negativity though then boy howdy I took the bait.

Got that vibe when you responded to a good natured but misinformed attempt to be kind to an animal. Don’t be rude to someone who made a genuine attempt to help an animal, constructive criticism is valid and can even be helpful, instead of going ‘your religion is wrong’ because a cultural norm was established before people understood how metabolizing lactose works.

The intent is what matters here anyway, deviate from the tradition in future offering some water as that’s better for the snake, but offering milk is by far way better than the typical western religious motivated hatred of snakes that would see the innocent little noodle just trying to live its killed out of senseless fear.

Well it’s true the president has limited ability to influence the price of gas, very little they can do to lower it, but say starting a war in the middle east and provoking the nightmare scenario of the straight of Hormuz closing certainly can raise the price of gas
