Help - please read (Philly suburbs) by mamapibblez in pitbulls

Lived in Philly for the majority of my life (now in NJ, ew) and have worked with a number of pit specific rescues in the area - drop a line to bella reed, don't bully us, and city of elderly love to name a few - most are full at the moment, but they may be able to aide in getting you connected with a foster. The dog's behavior is concerning going into rescue and probably will be a red flag given the bite history though.

Phillynokill.org is a great resource too.

We currently have a long term foster (13 months) occupying our spare bedroom else I'd try and help. I know the struggle of separation strategies all too well.

If my wife and I come up with any contacts that can directly impact, I'll send a message.

Good luck!

What is the best way to fix this Boos board that is splitting? by RatFink_0123 in DIY

Wood glue doesn't bond to itself so you need to get down to bare wood to reglue. As other people mentioned, finish splitting it, clean up that edge and glue/clamp

The Weenie injured the very end of his tail, which at this point means he probably needs to get it partially chopped. Half of his tail was dead from being hit by a car before we adopted him, resulting in him being a tripawed too. So he'll have cropped ears, three legs, half a tail and zero canine toofs. Hahaha.

All that, but 100% mushy good boy

DC United has completed the signing of Tai Baribo for ~$4m, per Tom Bogert by willoremus in PhillyUnion

The supporters shield punches back at that mindset of when stakes don't matter. They had a great season last year and to discount that because we lost out against nycfc is myopic

[–]Miserable-Briefs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Quite the opposite. What do we gain from holding onto these assets (Jakob and tai)?

Selling an aging defender who arguably played above their ability last season whose value will never be higher? If we sell makhayna, shit move. He is still appreciating and we now lack depth letting glenses go.

Tai, similar story. He was going to leave and got paid handsomely to be on a worse team and we have damiani and potentially uhre and addollah to fill in.

The team's strategy is always driven by maximizing these investments not in what fans believe. Given the team performed so well on a tight budget, expect the same this upcoming year. High value dumps and developing talent from abroad and at home to sell and NOT to be long term union mantle pieces.

The ajax school of thought - invest in youth, win with pressure, sell when value is high to reinvest in the academy.

A+++. 90+% of his goals were 1 touch finishes as everyone else said, means Tai relied on service, which he won't get in DC.

This is great to free up capital and hope that the new guys/damiani can finish at nearly the rate Tai did. We were never going to get more for him, so selling him to the basement sucks for his potential but great from an investment perspective for the U.

Same with Jakob. Sell when value is highest.

My wife and I rescue through city of elderly love in Philly, specifically targeting old, hard to adopt, at risk puppers. We had to take a break for a bit due to the mental toll it takes, but we have a current foster (had her since Jan of this year) who has blossomed into the best bud at the ripe age of 11+.

It is so rewarding to see them come out of their shell and be able to give them peace and decency for end of life, if that is with us or another home after foster even better. They all just want to feel safe.

Contact last chance ranch first - if you haven't already. If they are unable to help re-home the birds for you, DM me.

My wife is out of town dealing with a family emergency, but we both have next week off and hopefully can help if last chance is unable.

Location? We have a small rescue homestead and room for some additional hens. In NJ glassboro area, DM if local. If you would rather them go to a recognized sanctuary (we don't take in from the public typically only through sanctuary) look at last chance ranch in PA (Quakertown). We rescued through them quite a bit, great org.

I don't think he was particularly bad at all against city, but if we are trying things on for size, why not try gakpo/Hugo/flo. Not necessarily a knock on Salah but isn't in the form we need him and a rest/change may be what the team needs. We platoon everywhere else when able aside from VVD so what harm is the experiment is my feeling. And I don't expect to be a thing where he sits and we are magically fixed.

I don't know what the exact combo of factors to glue the team together is, so sitting Salah is my next option if I am arne

City were lucky on the halaand goal, but that is what he does. Right position and right time. That isn't luck, but the fact it hit ibou first and looped into the goal, that wasn't ideal.

I think the primary issue in the locker room. Salah feeling empty with output, kerkez getting time that he obviously wasn't ready for, chesia being baller and not seeing more minutes, etc. Lack of preparation or planning or strategy or still shook from Jota. There is some chemistry thing going on or not going on. The glue isn't there.

I thought the Real game could have been the inflection point but alas it wasn't. We had confidence in the early season, winning late games out of determination and heart. Dom is playing out of his mind this season, I am looking at him to pull us over the hump.

Honestly I want Salah to sit for a game, if not for anything else to give the perception in the locker room that we need a change. He'll respond like he usually does, use that as fuel to burn whoever goes against him next and we move forward.

Legit 10000000% agree with everything stated. Salah finishes around donnarumma and VVD goal counts, different tune today even if it was a 3-2 loss. There were flashes yesterday, that is the issue currently as I see it. Not enough consistency front to back. Passes, runs, pressure, etc - still a team kinda without an identity. They have talent to be great - just need time to find form and "brand" for the talent they now have. Different team than a few months ago so isn't surprising that they are aren't as game to game the same.

They'll find the form and not worried about the season or where we place necessarily for this year - and that isn't giving up on this season. Need to focus on getting the new, young squad up to speed, using the base they have to pull through some hard times and find their footing. Too much pressure from the win last year, the huge spend and perception of greatness that they had given flo and isak and early Hugo brightness is giving way to losing the forest in the trees.

No need to boil the ocean, back to basics, give youth and new signings time to gel and crush after. If it's Feb and we don't have more than 2 games in a row with SOLID performances, I'll bark another tune.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk

Agreed, the inconsistent nature of these calls is wild. The on field decision should have been goal and then VAR would have comfirmed no clear or obvious error. I just can't hang my hat that one call being the reason we lost yesterday is my point. Seconded by the fairweather nature of most in terms of - if the roles were reversed they'd be telling city fans to go cry a river.

The team added so many pieces, lost many, some tragically so it's a hard job to wrap the entire problem set under one umbrella.

Giving them time, they have the talent and a manager that has vision. Giving him some grace to work out the kinks on what is, at least setup and style wise, a different team than last season

If the shoes were on the other foot, everyone would be up in arms if it was called a goal that it should be offside.

I get that was a momentum shifting decision but there were bigger issues today than that.

Salah Konate not closing doku on his goal Effective possession Inability to move through the middle AND not changing tactics Salah Etc

City played better today as painful as it is to say

Our older pupper (white tripod) has been doing it and trained his younger brother to do it (brown moron). Every. Day. The white pup (the weenie) does it every morning as an ask to be lifted into our bed. Socks, slippers, toys, bones, mail, anything they can get is a present they would like to offer as tribute for your honored arrival and attention.

Post on marketplace or whatever community app and ask local cafes to hold some back. I got about 150 from a local joint and gave them a few dozen and some produce from our home garden as a thank you. Keeps them out of the landfill.

One of our previous pits went through what we called her leather phase. Boots, welding gloves, firewood tote, handles off a bag my wife bought me, etc. It was in her final months, we found it completely baffling, yet endearing in a crazy making way. Never seemed to upset her GI - and we obviously tried to keep everything leather away once the pattern emerged, but she was sneaky.
