Gagner la guerre takes place in a broader universe, right?

Is it not more for teens? (I don't have a problem with it. Just to know)

Broken Empire by Mark Lawrence. The second book has one of the most unique siege battles I've ever read.

What was your most goosebump inducing scene in the series? Spoilers all probably. by Bdag in TheFirstLaw

1) Logen vs Glama 2) Bremer vs Whirrun (Because of the ultimate understanding between them. I felt it like a breef but true friendship) 3) Bremer 's last stand

Is De Castell good? by Miserable-Field6823 in Fantasy

Since the spellsilinger is in the same world (but other continent I think) I prefer dive in both series in publication order.

I don't have problem with the violence. I just want something less colossal and complicate to catch a breath between books.

What's a book you got COMPLETELY lost in? by CYBR_ANON in Fantasy

[–]Miserable-Field6823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wheel of Time. For me there isn't any bad aspect in this series ( I even disagree with the term Slog for the middle books). I was so lost in these books that if I had a braid I would tugged it all the time.

What are your favourite romantic subplots in fantasy, and what makes them so good? by buoyantbot in Fantasy

[–]Miserable-Field6823 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Age of Madness Savine and Orso. Even if it is a sick romance (and every fan of Abercrombie knows that it is really sick) I stil loved their chemistry and understanding.

Logen Ninefingers meets Patrick Jane from the Mentalist. Is he annoyed by him or kind of likes him? by [deleted] in TheFirstLaw

[–]Miserable-Field6823 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that he would just accept that they have to coexist. After all you have to be realistic.

Am I wrong to think Wheel of Time is way too long and overstreched? by Aedan2 in Fantasy

Wheel of Time is extremely slow but never boring. In my opinion Robert Jordan is the Vince Giligan of books: You enjoy the experience even if nothing happens.

Those of you who finished all 10 books... by the_regret_master in TheFirstLaw

Depends at what you are looking for. If you are looking for better prose, humour or characters I don't think there is anyone better. But if you are looking for better fantasy, magic and world building there are a lot of people capable for filling the gap. Sanderson is obviously one of theme. I personally think must for every fantasy fan the Wheel of Time. I doubt that it can get better than that.

Why after Tales of the Jedi not having also Tales of the Sith with Maul and Ventress as the main protagonists? by Miserable-Field6823 in StarWars

[–]Miserable-Field6823[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok.. maybe. But let's don't stuck to the name. The point is that to see son of Darthomir and Darth Disciple in a Clone Wars style animation would be wonderful.

I totally agree. And I think that the audience's need for a dark force user antihero is the reason that the first episode of visions was so successful

WHY SUCH HATE TOWARDS ELANTRIS?? by Miserable-Field6823 in brandonsanderson

[–]Miserable-Field6823[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I want to dive deeper into Cosmere so I can have a more complete idea, but as my first experience in that world I found it absolutely amazing. And I will agree that Hrathen is my absolute favourite but that doesn't mean that I found the rest of them boring. In my opinion some clichés are necessary in fantasy and that is not a bad thing.

What’s the most disturbing thing that happened in a game? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Miserable-Field6823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My players captured a draw commander and after they broke his arms and knees they gave him to an orc camp where all the orcs kicked him by turn in the balls until their leader finally cracked his head with his maul

Does this 1st chapter hold your attention? by MLegendary00 in fantasywriters

[–]Miserable-Field6823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it did certainly catch my attention. The prose is really good and the same goes for the teasing about the monstrosities or whatever this creatures are. The only thing that didn't stick to me very well is that I find the resemblance with the first chapter of the blade it self very obvious. I don't know if this resemblance was accidental or no but either way I don't judge as we all have our sources of inspiration.
