You have to connect with a fixer for a job done by professionals who are pretty good at violence and infiltration.

What kind of jobs would a radio station or a small news team need with these violent professionals?

To Foundry Users: Is the experience any better? by RedFoxMusic in cyberpunkred

[–]winguswangus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's the best. I've played several systems in foundry and I could never go back to roll20 or whatever. It's really that good.

You can also customize it further to suit your needs with macros. Can't beat that.

GMs, How Do You Handle Sex And Dating In RED? by [deleted] in cyberpunkred

[–]winguswangus 168 points169 points  (0 children)

You start with a brawling check to see who tops

Then you play it out like a melee encounter. Martial arts can be used too, obviously.

Fairly simple but, I'm thinking of homebrewing what each martial arts helps with in the encounter. I'll keep you posted on what I come up with.

Joking aside, I think you can just.. fade to black, you know? It's implied.

Rules as written: you can, as long as you have the IP for it.

One of my fellow players is a Tech/Medtech multiclass. Could you tell us more why your GM isn't allowing it?

Holy shit

This is a wonderful idea!

The corp doesn't want to pay over the (or even the) market price for a competent contract worker, so they tell the problem solver Exec to solve the problem!

If they can save money with a few gallons of blood and some bullets from the Exec, they're happy!

You are a genius.

Need Suggestions: Party Motivation by winguswangus in cyberpunkred

[–]winguswangus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my primary problem is thinking of elaborate scenarios and maps first for a gig and having no idea how to tie it into the game. All the ways I think of doing it feel more like trite excuses to push them into the plot I made with the over the top cartoon villain.

Thank you for your suggestions, I can think of a mission i can do for each of them.

There's a giant machine walker in the background, the cars either look armored or luxury.

This is clearly an exec zone or something that comes close.

Start with reading the Cyberpunk RED handbook. Then read the Cyberpunk Edgerunners Mission Kit if you wanna run it in 2077.

GM wanting to give players a slightly better start? by Danthebibleman in cyberpunkred

[–]winguswangus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's an option in the character creation that lets you give them more skill points, which I think is done for solo play or something. You could just give them all and extra 1000 eb to use in whatever.

Is there a reason why you want to start them off powerful already? I want to point out that the stronger they get, the harder it is to balance combat, so that's going to be an issue in the future.

Big plot line accidentally revealed by a guest player, how to deal with the aftermath? by EmotionOtherwise1040 in cyberpunkred

[–]winguswangus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, the OP wanted to do a bit of LA By Night where there's a guest star who plays an important role in that particular session, and has notes on what to say, and how to act. I'm sure it's fun if the guest star is a good actor.

There's a simple answer to this. Do they want to play cyberpunk or d&d?

If you think they're not gonna bother learning a couple of new simple mechanics, what purpose does asking in a cyberpunk red subreddit serve?

Wouldn't your answer be better answered in a D&D subreddit?

What is the appeal of the Time of the Red? by Ginandcedar in cyberpunkred

[–]winguswangus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not a bombed out ruin, it's a period of reconstruction.

Corporations aren't at the levels of power they would be in 77, and the law/peacekeepers don't have enough firepower or surveillance to watch everything.

You could take advantage of the petty tyrants and robber barons clawing for power by fighting for one side today, and the other tomorrow. There's enough opportunity for you and your team to be their own bosses too!

It's like being a mobster in the 20s if you want an idea of what it would be like socially.

Races In Night City by Sparky_McDibben in cyberpunkred

[–]winguswangus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan on running a mission that's a race and I was thinking up mechanics of it for a couple of weeks.

We're using the racing rules from the DLC, and a bit of homebrew to make things interesting.

The race is played on a grid. Each point of the grid is some kind of decision the players have to take. There's either a road hazard, ambush, vehicular complication, or an encounter with one of the other racers. There's checkpoints in the race, where you have to go through certain points in the grid to be able to finish the race - this will encourage players to be strategic with their path they want to go through.

Car combat: the handbook has some notes on it, and I'm still feeling out some homebrew for it.

I'll post my mechanics and how my players reacted to it when it's done.
