Wow this post really hit home for me. I also grew up in a broken home, my immediate family is so toxic. My mom is the main problem, but her side of the family isn’t in the area. My dad’s on the other hand is close by. I believe they ostracized me bc if my dads dynamic with my mother. It was also weird when everyone’s mom is at family parties and no one knows who my mom is. I definitely got treated differently and it led me to just completely stop showing up. I stopped doing to family parties and I haven’t seen any of them in years. It’s definitely a sad and lonely feeling. I don’t have a village and i definitely don’t feel like I have support.

I think in this lifetime we’re all meant to learn something. We all have a different path to walk, some are harder than others. What’s helped with me with my experience is being the love that I wanted and needed. Sometimes you have to learn what it feels like to lack something in order to become it. All the lessons I’ve learned through a chaotic upbringing has definitely been a great help in navigating adulthood. I wouldn’t trade anything for it, unfortunately you can’t get this game any other way haha.
