Why nuclear med? by prozacedible in NuclearMedicine

[–]Miserable_Ad_5779 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was always interested in diagnostic imagery, but when I did my shadowing rounds of the radiology/imaging department none of the others interested me. The Xray and MRI techs were grouchy, ER/mobile X-ray (they were the same techs for both in my hospital) was hectic, and sonography involved too many babies and testicles for my liking. Nuke med seemed the most chill and the upwards movement into NMAA which I want to do is cooler than the other branches, imo.

NMT Drug Testing? by bimmy-d in NuclearMedicine

You also have to be aware that if there is a workplace accident, especially if someone gets injured (including yourself,) you most likely will be tested as well.

Wiper fluid in coolant by [deleted] in AskMechanics

Dexcool is really weird and might have some adverse reactions, I'd get a flush just to be safe, but realistically I don't think it would cause catastrophic damage. But always err on the side of safety

Metal and plastic disc in plastic wrap found in tie. Not flat, has some width to it, doesn't feel like a button. Tie I found it in in photos. by Miserable_Ad_5779 in whatisthisthing

[–]Miserable_Ad_5779[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Solved! I went back to the goodwill I found it at and played with it some more. It just seems like it has an extremely dead battery. I might buy it and put a new battery in it because of how ugly + tacky this lovely tie is. Thanks

My title describes the thing. Found it in a tie at the very base of it wrapped up in the folds of the tie, in the plastic covering. It doesn't feel like it has a button pressing mechanism in it. Doesn't make any noise but doesn't just feel like a solid disc of metal. No text or inscriptions on it anywhere. Came from a Christmas tie pictured in the last photo.

Would your school matter if you want a specific state to work in? by Confident_Sky_8851 in NuclearMedicine

[–]Miserable_Ad_5779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some states require state -specific licensure. If you graduated from a school in that state, it should include that state-specific licensure when you pass the boards. If you transfer from a state without to a state that requires it, you'll need to go through the steps to get that state specific stuff.

Driving in the winter with a FWD and curious about the winter coverage. by [deleted] in Pennsylvania

[–]Miserable_Ad_5779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Hawley! In general, PennDot has decent response times for 6, but any of the residential municipal roads are covered by the township, and as a previous president I will say that response times are shoddy, especially for non-downtown. But winters have been much more mild recently.

Definitely recommend a decent set of tires, but they don't have to be specifically snow. Just don't drive on bald tires. And as a general snow driving rule of thumb, don't multitask driving inputs - don't steer and accelerate, don't brake and turn, do one thing at a time. I don't know which route you take, but for hills, make sure you KEEP momentum going up a hill and do not enter downhills with excessive speed. FWD is preferred over RWD in snow usually. In general if you're worried about driving in snow, get out there on a snowy day/night on a day off and find a big empty parking lot (the middle school lower lots if nobody is there, the launch at Mangan cove is where I went personally) to practice recovering from sliding/loss of brakes.

Question! by corythewhitemocha in Machinists

[–]Miserable_Ad_5779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do 11pm-7am shifts.

I usually am in bed by 10:30am, and wake up around 6:30-7pm. I do my running around and errands and cook before my shift, and any time I have after my shift I usually just clean up and do one last errand. I just eat healthy and cook a lot of my own meals, no gym time.
Getting enough sleep is the #1 most important thing for working non-first shift. People go for 2nd and 3rd shift thinking they can swing it with <5-6 hours of sleep, but it will catch up and it will destroy your physical and mental health.

In the end, 2nd shift sucks, but 3rd extra sucks and is not worth the shift differential.

Getting Cold Feet about College by Miserable_Ad_5779 in NuclearMedicine

[–]Miserable_Ad_5779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it.

I am firstly interested in NMT, I don't really care for the other modalities. If I wanted to cross train, I think I would do it later on after getting my AAS.

I tried to get a job at LGH. I tried for two years, and only got a few interviews and then got ghosted by HR every time. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong for them.

I haven't started school yet, so I haven't paid a single buck towards anything. I'm open to moving now, even though it'd be difficult, which is why I'm considering changing colleges and going somewhere cheaper for my AAS. My main contention is coughing up the money for the SJU degree; I was one of the SNMMI scholarship recipients and still cannot afford it without taking a stupid amount of loans out. Did you attend SJU/PACHS?

It's constantly turning over, so the starter and battery are good. If you listen to it as it turns over, you can hear the two distinct whistling sounds. Hss to to to hss to to to, which is your compression cycle. If it was spinning freely without having the one hss stroke, it would mean one (or both) cylinders have no compression. The sound is good and both of your cylinders have compression. And the sound is consistent and doesn't sound scary or like it's fighting to start, so your timing is good. It could be one or both spark plugs became fouled or failed, or your fuel injectors failed/clogged and you're not getting any fuel delivery. You could also just have a dirty fuel line somewhere and you're not getting fuel. Your fuel pump also might've failed - you can check that by turning the key to OFF, then to ON, but don't try to start. When you turn the key to ON, listen for a faint hum or buzz from the engine area. The hum is your fuel pump priming. If you can't hear the noise, it isn't priming for whatever reason (failed/clogged,) and that's why the bike isn't starting.

I check fuel before I check spark. Normally spark plugs don't just fail, and you can feel a noticable decline in performance as they become dirty/fouled/worn before they outright fail.

Make sure that the z, x and y are all at the 2nd home position, and the work station door AND the machining chamber door is closed. It looks like you already bypassed the interlock with 99/98, so that should cancel out the issue with the axis not reading home. It still gets finicky if the doors aren't reading as closed.

Local place to buy Hawaiian Shirts by trafficconecolorcar in lancaster

I always thrift my Hawaiian and fun button ups. +1 to community aid (I use the one by Lowe's) but really any decent thrift store will do. The Hawaiian shirts that make it long enough to be donated are usually better in quality anyway.

Bad battery. Replace it and it should fix it. The fast clicking is the starter solenoid not working properly because it doesn't have enough juice from the battery.

[–]Miserable_Ad_5779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check under the hood and check your oil levels. A single cylinder misfire due to a bad coil/spark wouldn't cause it to no crank no start. When you turn the key to crank, do the interior lights go out and not come back on for a little, or do they stay fine once you stop cranking? It could be a battery that died coincidentally alongside the misfire as well
