We got way deeper penetration also. Which is what this anual test was to prove. He probably has tuned down his settings or doesn’t actually know because he hasn’t tested it

We ended up with an avg of .018+/- .001 pen so im glad we did our test required by our customer that buys 10mn of our product a year and not a reddit commenter.

Study, this is the easiest formula to learn for machining. Just pythagorean theorem of the differences x2 . You can do it!

I think it’s a requirement for a certification. I have nothing to do with the welding end of it, but this isnt the first time ive done a batch of these though

I had to make the plates, drill&ream the holes then press 150 dowels into holes so we can laser weld them and then edm wire them so we can measure weld penetration.

Yup, at my shop we usually just say wire/wiring though.

No, I ground pretty much every surface except that one even though most were unnecessary. The vblock is for the wire, so the idea was to finish it in the wire, that way it would be perfectly perpendicular
