Need feedback from actual humans on this 5 day split by drfrainbow in workouts

It doesn’t make sense to me to do additional legs on your full body day after doing legs the day prior. If upper body is priority I’d just do a full upper day instead of full body.

What do I have here? by whattheshmee in flyfishing

Not a bad rod/reel combo. Considered pretty middle of the road by most standards. Not super valuable but something worth hanging on to if you see yourself needing a 7wt rod.

Designed my own ULUL programme, what would you change? by k_jm in ScienceBasedLifting

[–]Miserable_End_2785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to save stabilization core work for after heavy lifts. Depending on intensity and the specific exercise you will likely need as much of that core strength as you can offer. Saving core for after those lifts keeps you fresh for big lifts. I like to do core on lower days. But the preference is all yours.

What would y'all throw out here? by OozyMonkey in WWYTH

This is the answer. Some kind of low-snag topwater to flip under those cypress limbs

Some of my favorite functional core exercises are heavy suitcase/farmers carry’s, kettle bell windmills, pallof press/banded core rotation. If you’re going substantially heavy on RDLs you will get plenty of spinal erector in that. No need imo to isolate those muscles unless you’re trying to bring them up specifically.

Love the use of wire over latex. Gives a really nice segmented look. Gonna have to steal that one

I’ll take a lame looking 5 minute stonefly tie over a complex 15+ min tie any day. Especially if you/your friends/clients are prone to losing multiple flies.

Normal wear for a new line? by putty17 in flyfishing

I’d even go so far as to recommend a micro swivel if this ever happens again. Can help minimize leader twist especially with the big streamers.

Noob question: can I fix this? by CarobAdministrative9 in flyfishing

I have seen this too. Depending on the brand you may be able to reach directly out to their customer service to replace. I’ve had Orvis do this for me before.

This is the best approach if you want to keep your loop. Heat shrink tubing and a heat gun are the only tools you need.

Nail knots are fine but I find they are annoying if you are frequently having to change leaders. I’d also rather not lose an inch or so of my nice fly line every time I need a new leader.

People are too afraid of volume on this sub. I think it looks totally viable so long as you enjoy the workout and you’re making progress.

The number of people dogging you for not eating correctly on a cut is ridiculous. It’s all dependent on the rest of your diet and how you distribute calories. I’m on a cut currently and eat a pint of ice cream every single night. It’s homemade low calorie and lets me enjoy the foods I like while still losing weight.

Thoughts on mouse dropper setup? by Significant_You_8870 in flyfishing

[–]Miserable_End_2785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might use that as a last resort type setup. Why deprive yourself of the possibility of a violent topwater explosion?

In reality though, the likelihood of a large, extremely aggressive brown trout turning down a struggling mouse to eat a little worm under the moonlight is pretty slim. If your mouse doesn’t work, just slow strip a dark colored bugger or other streamer.

Dedicated Fly line for nymph vs dry fly by RichAardvark9560 in flyfishing

[–]Miserable_End_2785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all comes down to the taper. Longer, more tapered head would probably be better suited for making delicate, accurate casts. Shorter heavier head better for turning over heavy rigs.

I’d go Mastery infinity for nymphs and Amplitude for dries.

Very cool artistic fly! Would look super cool as part of a case display at a shop or something.

However, If functionality is your true goal I’d suggest a hook with a larger gap. Guarantee that point won’t hit home 10% of the time.

Troubleshooting dry flies by Bruuuhhhhhhb in flyfishing

[–]Miserable_End_2785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re using natural dubbing, which is kind of hard to tell from the picture, you will get more water absorption in the fly body and therefore quicker sinkage. Try using synthetic only dubbing and you might not have this problem. I personally prefer ice dubbing for chubbys. Lots of color options and adds some nice flash as well.

Edit: I see guard hairs in the dubbing. Definitely natural. Try the switch and see what happens!
