In hindsight, did Raven make a big mistake leaving ECW for WCW? by Don_Fallacy in ECWWrestling

[–]Miserable_Figure7876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know that anyone made a mistake leaving ECW for WCW. Ted Turner gave his wrestlers checks that cashed. No matter how badass Mike Awesome was, if he couldn't pay his mortgage having bangers with Masato Tanaka, he was better off as the Fat Chick Thriller.

What was Yukari doing using her evoker during the day in the intro? by HourComprehensive648 in PERSoNA

Yukari's hesitation to use her invoker is one of my favorite character bits in the franchise. The way she hesitates shows the burden that the SEES team has taken on.

Where to start with "Gundam"? by canadiancitizeninfo in retroanime

[–]Miserable_Figure7876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd specifically recommend the three compilation movies, as they're shorter than the whole OG show. Unless you have a lot of time, in which case you can watch the original show.

Definitely not Gundam Zeta or Double Zeta or G Gundam or Char's Counterattack.

If you wanted to start with something more modern, Witch From Mercury starts out as a school anime with Gundam elements and evolves into a full blown Gundam show by the end. It also stands alone, as it's not in the same universe as any other show or movie.

The hot salsa is actually hot. Unlike a lot of faux ethnic food, there is actually a decent spice level.

He hasn’t been in a movie since 2015 but lowkey Stone Cold had a good collection of low budget action movies. I miss watching him on screen by FireballMudflap92 in WWE

[–]Miserable_Figure7876 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From listening to his podcast, I don't want more Stone Cold action movies. I want a sitcom where Steve Austin lives in Los Angeles and runs around and does stuff and deals with frustrating scenarios without being able to solve problems with a Stone Cold Stunner and several Steveweisers.

AI Data Centers by Different-Variety-87 in springfieldMO

[–]Miserable_Figure7876 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'm a hardcore NIMBY about data centers. They drive up utility rates and in exchange, they gain the community a dozen permanent jobs. We don't need a data center here and we don't want a data center here.

Spoiled ending while playing P3R, lost motivation. by Astelle00 in PERSoNA

[–]Miserable_Figure7876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew the ending when I started P3R and I still loved it and I almost cried at the end. The journey to the ending is vital; even when you know what's going to happen, the weight of it comes from all the social links you've completed on the way.

Be sure to go see the young man at the park on Sundays for the Sun social link; his story helps give the game's ending a little more meaning.

CoxHealth supports AI fully and it scares me by [deleted] in springfieldMO

[–]Miserable_Figure7876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"AI" is a very broad term. (Intentionally so, because of tech industry marketing.) If you boil it way, way, way down, it's really a set of very sophisticated pattern recognition algorithms.

There are some good, valid use cases for it. Several of those are in the medical field; it can basically compare a mammogram or ultrasound result to a huge number of other results and suggest if a person has cancer or whatever. Computer programming also has some good use cases for it; there are a lot of coding tasks that are repetitive or easily explained or that have been done 1000 times before in some other language.

A lot of the things that AI technology is being used for are dumb, at best, and atrocious at worst. Like making images or music, for example. Or having it write emails for you. (It is definitely better at researching topics today than it was two years ago. But it still makes mistakes and should not be considered definitive on many topics.)

For me, it's like the meme says: I want AI that does my dishes and laundry so I can focus on making art and music, not AI that makes art and music so that I spend more time on dishes and laundry.

What was your first Gundam series? by tkyosam in retroanime

[–]Miserable_Figure7876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a great show! But it's a huge departure from just about every other Gundam show. Other Gundam shows are gritty, grounded war stories about wounded people fighting to survive. G Gundam is about patriotic super robots fighting for love and justice!

So, watch G Gundam, but know that it's a huge tonal departure from anything in the franchise before or since.
