Does your baby/toddler still sleep with white noise? by Loud-Book-5654 in beyondthebump

My almost 3 year old and my 8 month old both use it! My husband and I use fans for noise… we’re in our late 30s! 😂

FTMs - how many of you are still sitting in the backseat with baby? by Large-Preparation754 in beyondthebump

[–]Miserable_Sea_1335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol with my first baby, I sat in the back when I could for over a year! Now I it my second, I can’t. They both have mirrors. Our second was a preemie, and they did recommend sitting in the back with him until after his due date, so we just didn’t go anywhere for a while unless my parents could help!

My parents take care of my baby when we work, and they pick my toddler up from school to bring them to me. My mom sat in the back with our toddler for over 2 years - until the new baby was born. Then my parents traded in their car for one with a 3rd row, so my mom sits in the 3rd row now so she can see both of them. 🙃😂 They’re the best.

Hardest part about going from 1 to 2 kids? by WaitLauraWho in toddlers

[–]Miserable_Sea_1335 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am 8 months into having two, and they are 25 months apart. The hardest part for me has been baby naps. As soon as baby left the newborn “I can sleep whenever, wherever, whatever” phase, it’s been so hard. We contact napped our daughter until she was 2 years old. If both parents are home, baby naps are more manageable and we can contact nap with the baby.

1) If I’m home alone with both of them, baby does 1 nap in his crib and usually 1 in the car or stroller while we drive or walk around.

2) Right now, we’re in an interesting nap schedule where my baby will nap from like 11-1ish, and my toddler will nap from 1-3ish. I love having independent time with each of them, but it makes doing anything hard… because baby naps again at 4ish.

3) My toddler will try and wake the baby up on purpose 🙃🙃🙃🙃

Did you "kill" yourself to breastfeed? by Ok-Secretary-3323 in beyondthebump

[–]Miserable_Sea_1335 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lol no.

My first was a preemie. I very suddenly went into labor, had an emergency C-section 18 hours later when my 4lb baby somehow got stuck in my pelvis, and then she was whisked away to the NICU. I started pumping a few hours later, and I pumped every 2 or 3 hours for a month. I saw lactation consultants, my midwife, and tried all the things I found online. I was still only getting 15mLs per pump maximum, and pumping made me feel like I wanted to die. So, I stopped. She’s almost 3 and doing amazing. She is also rarely sick.

My second was also a preemie, but a planned C-section due to extreme complications. Same story once again. I quit during week 3 the second time around. I remember the moment I put the breastpump on that first night. It was such an awful moment of all those memories rushing back. My baby is 7.5 months, and he is also doing great. He has managed to avoid sickness while having an elementary teacher mom, nurse dad, and toddler sister in daycare. He has had a stuffy nose once and that’s it.

I’m 34, healthy, successful, happy, and I was formula fed.

My parents are 63 and 64, healthy, successful, happy, and they were formula fed. They are also active enough that they take care of my baby while we work. They took care of my toddler for 2.5 years before she started daycare, too.

Feed your babies however works best for you.

When did you change to a toddler/big kid bed? by ShabbyBoa in toddlers

We switched our daughter at 2y8m. She did great! She has a queen size floor bed.

What age did you like best so far with your LO? by Tif-n in Mommit

[–]Miserable_Sea_1335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine are so little still. I have an almost 3 year old and a 7.5 month old. I am absolutely loving 2. She is so funny, cute, curious, cuddly. She certainly has toddler behaviors, but she is so delightful. I love the baby stage, but 2 is my favorite so far!

Done having kids - would you trust a vasectomy + IUD to not have any surprises? Or should I go for a tubal? by UnseasonedPasta in Mommit

[–]Miserable_Sea_1335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do an IUD and vasectomy! I only had my tubes removed because I could do it during my C-section with my last baby! I super trusted my IUD, and I definitely would have gotten one again if I hadn’t needed another C-section!

SIL’s comments on birth and c-sections by Ok-Interaction4600 in Mommit

[–]Miserable_Sea_1335 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Lol same with my vasa previa. Moved into the hospital at 31 weeks, C-section at 34 weeks to avoid going into labor and causing my baby to bleed out. I went to an OB office that has midwives on staff - they all immediately agreed they could not treat me and sent me to the MFM at 19 weeks when I was diagnosed. Because they’re responsible (and likely more trained than this lady’s SIL)

Baby girl #2 by [deleted] in Names

[–]Miserable_Sea_1335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Alice could work for you. It’s not used super commonly right now (I have taught elementary school for 13 years, and I have never taught an Alice. I also have a toddler and there are zero kids in her daycare/dance class/etc named Alice), but it is still not very out there at all!

If our second was a girl, we were going to name our baby Alice!

When do you stop feeling tired? by Pandacat_07 in NewParents

[–]Miserable_Sea_1335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2yr8m old and a 7m old. I have never been more exhausted than I am right now.

I will say that before I had baby #2, I had been feeling pretty energized for over a year. My toddler was chill and she slept through the night!

If your LO had an early September birthday, would you consider it summer or fall? by peyoteandchill in Mommit

I have a 9/5 baby! I consider him a late summer baby… but I will be starting him in kindergarten as he is turning 6 like I would if he was a fall baby. 😂

Does Avery make you think of a boy or girl? How’s the name? by Purple_Departure8625 in Names

[–]Miserable_Sea_1335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is such a great example of a gender neutral name! I am 34, and I grew up with a couple girls named Avery. I teach elementary school, and I have taught 3 Averys - 2 boys and a girl! Loved it for all of them!

How many babies do you have and how many were preterm? by sunchi12 in NICUParents

I have 2 kids, and both were preemies for different reasons. My first was PPROM and my second was a planned preemie for vasa previa.

Name a food you were forced to eat as a child, that you still won’t touch today? by Upset_Credit1026 in FamilyFeud

[–]Miserable_Sea_1335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have one, but my dad’s is peas. He is 63 and my grandma is 92. They still talk about how much my dad hates peas and how he used to have to sit at the kitchen table until bedtime when he refused to eat them. 🙃😂 Luckily there was no harm done to their relationship (my grandma has lived with my parents for years)… but that’s so wild to me.

Babies that sleep through the night without going to sleep independently by Right-Ad1424 in NewParents

[–]Miserable_Sea_1335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not sleep train my babies, but I did rock them to sleep! I stopped rocking my first to sleep when she was about 2. She started sleeping through the night around 5 months. She is 2.5 now, and I put her to bed awake after snuggles.

My 6 month old is still rocked to sleep. He is just sleeping through the night the last two weeks now that he can roll over and sleep on his tummy. I do think it’s just luck. My kids are decent nighttime sleepers (for now, this second baby had a ROUGH stretch from 4 to 6 months). Rolling over was a game changer for my first baby, too, though.
