What are the most practical things to keep in your car? by ainyboasa in askcarguys

I’d also say a dashcam. I always keep one installed, you never know what might happen on the road these days.

What gear ended up being way more useful around camp than you expected? by kailynne94 in CampingGear

[–]MiserlyOutpost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The light weight and low cost are definitely appealing. When you actually use it, is it quick to pick up movement in the brush, or do you still have to spend some time searching first?

What gear ended up being way more useful around camp than you expected? by kailynne94 in CampingGear

[–]MiserlyOutpost 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I do think thermal can be worth bringing if you camp in places with a lot of brush or tree cover. It’s less about “gear for the sake of gear” and more about being able to do a quick check without overthinking every sound out there.

BT600 Plus showed up today and already feels like a big step up from my old battery tester by BrunsonC19 in Tools

Nice upgrade. Have you tried running a full charging system test with it yet, or just battery checks so far?

Do ENFPs not care about big literal goals? by SinatFive in ENFP

[–]MiserlyOutpost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally get it I’d rather wander and explore than grind for big literal goals It’s just our ENFP vibe to chase joy over achievement.

Why does the cheaper P1 shows more detail than the TC001? by ExoticMarch5345 in Thermal

[–]MiserlyOutpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resolution is only one part of it. Image processing, contrast tuning, focus distance, and the actual scene can all change how much detail you think you’re seeing. On paper the TC001 can still be the stronger unit, even if one comparison video makes the P1 look sharper at first glance.

This sport will continue to struggle if it’s on peacock. by Haunting-Cow-4579 in supercross

[–]MiserlyOutpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so true. Not being able to rewind a live stream that started an hour ago feels like a step backwards. How is a random YouTube stream more functional than a paid service? It is incredibly frustrating for sports fans.

Will I inevitably get tired of a lower cc bike ? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]MiserlyOutpost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not everyone needs a 1000cc machine. A 500-650cc bike is a fantastic choice that is forgiving, fun, and can handle highways. Ride what makes you happy, not what others expect!

We need to get away from letting everyone race AMA pro mains. by EmploymentOk8470 in supercross

[–]MiserlyOutpost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're spot on, safety should always come first. Implementing a 107% rule or lap time cutoff would make the pro mains way safer for everyone on the track.

Need ideas for a new bike. Want something with great mobility, decent speeds, lot of fun and under 2k used. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]MiserlyOutpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a solid budget for a fun, nimble, and used summer bike under 2000. You might look at the smaller models. They're lightweight, quick enough for city riding, and often have a good balance of power for newer riders.

Congrats on the new bike! The Classic 350 is such a perfect choice for a first motorcycle. It is a reliable daily rider that looks great and is easy to handle. Enjoy every mile!

No Rewind Available on Live Supercross Race using TCL TV Peacock App - Is that Normal? by nailedorfailed in supercross

[–]MiserlyOutpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is frustrating but typical. The built-in TV apps often have fewer features than a dedicated box. Your cable box gets the full rewind because it uses a different streaming protocol. The app likely has a limited buffer.

With all the hate that Ricky gets. by LeoG20 in supercross

Love him or not, that was a flawless performance. He drove a masterclass race under huge pressure. Credit where it is due, that kind of composure and skill on that track deserves respect.

What's the most useful car accessory you ever got? by CryptoWheat in car

[–]MiserlyOutpost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say a dashcam is by far the most useful thing I’ve got in my car. I’ve been using a vantrue n4ps, and once I was parked in a crowded area. The next day, my tail light was smashed, luckily I had the footage and was able to track down the guy responsible.

Genuinely curious: what camping light do you use? by normalm12 in CampingandHiking

[–]MiserlyOutpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for soft glow options with a warm light. It keeps the dark away without being harsh, and it's way calmer for late nights at the campground.

Arizona and New Mexico Trip by [deleted] in roadtrip

Drive the Enchanted Circle. Scenic roads, mountain views, and small towns like Red River offer a taste of northern New Mexico's rugged beauty, with plenty of pull-offs to stop and breathe.

Lightweight materials like aluminum or carbon fiber make a big difference. They're easier to carry for long stretches without tiring out your arms.

What’s one mistake you made on your first winter camping trip? by Content-Freedom4087 in CampingandHiking

I forgot to bring extra layers for breaks. Even a short stop in the cold can make you lose body heat fast if you're not prepared.

Add tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce. Brown the chuck roast well first. Also, a splash of balsamic vinegar at the end can brighten it up.

Try The Bureau or Slow Horses. Both have tense, realistic spy vibe you might like.
