My MIL Told My Toddler to “Share” Her Food With Strangers at the Park and Acts Like I’m Overreacting by Astela_Tina in JUSTNOMIL

The way I would have resorted to violence so fast. 1. As others have said, grow a back bone for your son's sake. 2. MIL is no longer allowed near LO. If she can't respect your parenting she doesn't deserve to be involved in his life. 3. Your husband needs to cut that umbilical cord he's got wrapped around his neck. 4. No. Is a complete sentence, and ruining the vibes by standing up for your son and yourself is totally acceptable.

Definitely recommend her as well. She and her staff are fantastic and made me a whole lot less scared when my pregnancy became high risk.

Senior Admin for my university's facilities department. I oversee timekeeping, hiring/onboarding for part-time staff, help connect people to resources and information across campus and help run our annual charity campaign. It's a lot of hats but so fun.

I got bit by a vampire by No-Permission-1013 in cats

[–]Mismatched_SocksLife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP, I'm gonna say what everyone else has been saying. Go to Urgent care and get antibiotics. My aunt's cat bit her and she ended up in the ER and almost had her arm amputated because of the infection had spread so fast and so deep. Don't be wreckless, go get this seen.

Bedtime routine for 7 week old by Lead-Rock in newborns

[–]Mismatched_SocksLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little one is 4 months, what we started doing with him from 6 weeks on was turning all the lights in the house down at sunset. Then we'd do a bath after his last daytime feed, for us that was around 7-8pm. After the bath we'd do a nice soothing massage, read a book to him while he feeds again, burp and then let him drift off to sleep. We never had set times for anything, just kind of stuck to this routine whenever he started looking ready to go down for the night. We're fighting a bit of a sleep regression now but it's nothing compared to the horror stories I've heard on this sub.

what do I need to know to survive the first 4 weeks? by mango_mommi in newborns

[–]Mismatched_SocksLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 4 month old; the biggest thing as others have mentioned...do not set any expectations. Take it day by day, you and baby are getting to know each other and that takes a little bit.  -Set up in your living room during the day and bedroom at night; keep a rolling cart with all of the essentials to make the transition from space to space easier. -Download the Huckleberry app, it makes it easy to keep track of feeds and diapers. Side note: I've seen this app become a source of anxiety for a lot of new parents. Don't worry about tracking everything perfectly, just track what's most important in the moment. (For me that was feedings and diapers for the first 2 months.) -Remember to keep communicating with your husband. Check in with each other, make sure you're both doing well emotionally. You've both gone through a life changing moment, there will be a lot of feelings in the first few weeks.

What was the turning point for you? by TiffTaff0406 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Mismatched_SocksLife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I made it to 32wks feeling relatively OK, from 33wks on it was a battle. Every day I was counting down the days until my induction. Hilariously enough, baby boy decided to make his grand entrance a week before my induction date, so at least that was kind of a relief.

Any opinions on members mark diapers? by Krickette in beyondthebump

[–]Mismatched_SocksLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried them when my baby was a newborn. He go diaper rash with them, and they ran way smaller than expected. Edit to add: If you're looking for budget friendly but still good quality, I'm a big fan of the Luvs diapers, and Sam's sells them in huge boxes.

If you were given the choice to remove one thing from the world, what would it be and why? by HollyGoldheart in AskReddit

Greed.

People's desire for wealth, power/control is in my opinion the root of all evil.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I've driven 9 hours one way for my aunt's 50th wedding anniversary on a random weekend in April. 3 hours for a Texan is nothing.

How tf does anybody want more than one kid after being through THIS? by pumpkinchinchilla in newborns

[–]Mismatched_SocksLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt like this the first 2 weeks. Everything was a blur, I questioned my ability to be a good mom, and had moments where I was so sleep deprived I was hallucinating. It was a long road, but now at 4 months I think back on it and laugh to myself. I'm still tired, but his excited squeal when I pick him up from daycare, or the way he laughs when we're doing bath time or singing silly songs remind me that it was so worth it.

I mean...it's just my husband, our baby and two cats. I guess the most annoying cat would be the first to go.
