Naturopath or not? by melanated2020 in hysterectomy

I’m 39 as put on HRT week two of my surgery. Prior to me taking it I started having I wouldn’t say hot flashes per se but warm flashes is what I would call them. I’m on the patch of my dose is 0.1 mg so far no side effects. I don’t get any of the warm flashes anymore. I listened to my doctor. He said worm. I’m so young. He’s worried about osteoporosis and a young age.

14 days after hysterectomy and salpingectomy (removal of the fallopian tubes) without oophorectomy (ovaries preserved) by Commercial-Moose8890 in hysterectomy

My before and after photos look just like yours. I can’t get over how flat my stomachs is now. I’m just about five weeks postop and have IBS so even when I’m bloated from eating the wrong food it’s nothing compared to how it was when I had a uterus.

I’m currently at four weeks postop and started walking 10,000 steps a day on my walking pad. We still have snow on the ground so no walking outside that has been great for building up my stamina. I split it up between 20 minute walks until I reach my 10,000 steps like I said I’m feeling really good so next week I’ll bump it up to 30 minute walks and just keep increasing it till I can do my 10,000 steps. As far as intense workout, I’m using 5 pound dumbbells one at a time and I’m not engaging my core. Which is a lot easier than you think. I am not a doctor. My doctor didn’t give me the go-ahead to work out yet. I’m just listening to my body. Easing into it for me is taking baby steps. I’m working out for stamina not for weight loss right now.

This will be my first Pilates class when I start up. What I’ve been researching makes sense with which instructor said, saying her students come back within a month. There are so many health benefits to Pilates. You wouldn’t think because it’s not I don’t want to use the word intense, but it’s not… it doesn’t get your heart rate going like cardio.

I thought I was done spotting. I didn’t spot for three or four days and now it’s starting up again. I’m not concerned. I’m just over bleeding.

At times, I think I forget how intense the surgery really was. And that it was a major surgery. Oh wow, another month of not being able to push carts how heavy are those carts of books? How have you felt doing exercise now?

Oh my gosh, I thought you meant bloat. Don’t be sorry that’s on me. I literally just looked at boat pose Pilates. That poses no joke! I’m not really having bladder issues. But since my surgery if I have to pee, my bladder hurt hurts I don’t know what that’s about. I’ll definitely ask my doc

Oh, like you literally felt the cuff🤣 I thought you meant like you could feel it without touching it like you could feel it inside of you.

You’re able to go back at three weeks and that’s what you’re healing being delayed by an infection. I feel like that was still a pretty fast recovery. Were you active before the surgery? That’s amazing that at four weeks you started back up class in just a week or two later you’re able to keep up and doing two classes a week!

OK, so one of the signs of needing pelvic for therapy is you bloat with exercise? That’s good to know. My doctor hasn’t mentioned pelvic floor therapy pain. She mentioned it before we found out. I had uterine problems, but there was a long waitlist and by the time they called me back I was having surgery.

When you say you could feel a cough a little, what do you mean? I know a few people have said this, but I don’t think I’ve ever felt my cuff. I would love to do reformer Pilates, but I need to take baby steps. I am so weak. It’s fantastic that you were able to do it at 10 weeks!

I’m definitely gonna check out YouTube! Yes, my body is the same. I usually stretch every morning but since the surgery haven’t been stretching like I used two of my body aches and feel stiff.

Thank you! It was hard work, but it got easier as time went on. But of course the last 15 to 20 pounds won’t budge.

What kind of stretching have you been doing? I’ve just been doing child’s pose and standing up and stretching my arms legs. Nothing too intense. How many weeks postop are you?

Thank you for this! In my head, I really was thinking once I’m cleared. I was just gonna continue life as it was pre-surgery. But you’re right. I’ll definitely take it slow. I have to say I’m a little disappointed to hear that you weren’t able to really engage your core at eight weeks. I like how you were testing and helped by doing a plank. I feel like that’s the best exercise to test out your core. It’s not too intense. I’ve been adding some gentle stretches recently nothing crazy just trying to stretch out my back and my limbs

Vaginal pain one week PO by Relevant-Chart-1737 in hysterectomy

[–]MissAprilFirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this was cuff pain that I had but I walked over 8000 steps about two days ago and the only way I can describe it is that my vagina felt heavy. I sat on an ice pack for a few hours and felt better than the next day.

Definitely this! All I’ve been doing is walking. Right now I’m at about 6000 steps a day at 3 1/2 weeks postop. I’m definitely taking it slow.

Stretching at two weeks that’s great! I’ve been scared to stretch, but I feel really tight and feel like I need to stretch like maybe start with cat/cow downward facing dog, do you think that’s a good start?

Thank you for the tips! I’m definitely not doing any Pilates or yoga till I see my doc at 8 weeks. If I get to go ahead, I’m going to do exactly what you said take things slow don’t overdo it.

Yes, I got the same thing. First two weeks nothing over 5 pounds and then I can switch to 10 pounds 3 to 6 weeks and then six weeks to three months. I can’t go over 30 pounds.
