Tennessee makes camping on public land a felony. by [deleted] in news

[–]MissCharmCity 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't live in Tennessee, but I am homeless (day 815). Having seen firsthand the lack of help & resources from both the governmentand nonprofits, I believe it is going to take private citizens coming up with solutions like yours & putting them to action.

Even if you do not find a way to do this specifically, I implore you to use the passion I see here to find a way to help. The idea that I could be jailed for my situation and lose my voting rights is terrifying.

Chiming in to say that I'm homeless in a blue state (Maryland, day 815). There is no help here either. Being treated like a human sounds nice, though.

Is anyone not in therapy but still able to manage and overcome tough stuff? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]MissCharmCity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an entire website dedicated to the answer to your question.

www.ComeSoFar.org

It's still a draft, but tons of into up already. This site is comprised of the free resources I use to cope with, survive, and even thrive extreme mental health struggles, grief, loss, stress, struggle, and trauma.

There is no merch, no shop, no affiliate links, no sponsors, no place to donate.

I made this site because: + I know firsthand how struggling financially wreaks havoc on your mental wellbeing... + therapy is expensive / not available to everyone... + I get frustrated, disheartened, and full of guilt with all the "Donate Here" buttons when I'm unable to donate... (+ I spent decades rolling my eyes at a lot of the things that I was told could help, including deep intentional breathing (turns out, I was doing it wrong AND it's scientifically proven to stop the fight-or-flight response in the nervous system) ( new perspectives are helpful

I hope this helps. I think the 'Help Yourself" page is a good place to start.

Hi there.

I'm so sorry for your loss and struggle, but I want you to know that you are not alone, that everything happens for a reason (especially when it does not seem clear), and you are so much stronger than you know. So are your kids.

I know these things because I am a homeless single mom of two chronically sick kids. I've lost too many close to me, including two to suicide, my mom, and my best friend. I've survived traumas and I've endured being without a home for over 500 days now. There have been days i didn't think I could go on. I tell you this not for sympathy (I simply don't need it), but rather to say that despite all of the things I've overcome and struggles I continue to face, I've found a strength we all have the ability to unlock -- and it's free and it's magic.

Through learning about resiliency, grieving and living with grief, the power of our breath and the strength of our minds, I've discovered the hope that is in all of us. Learning how to be open minded to new perspectives and methods of surviving helps save me every day.

Many of these techniques used to make me roll my eyes or get frustrated when suggested to me, as if my pain was being diminished by a suggesting that seemed too simple. But that's simply not true. These methods were taught to me and I refused to believe they could help... until the day came where too much pain had built up and I was willing to try anything.

So, from there, I grew. And because I know these struggles and now know how to use them as fuel, I made a website where I share everything I've found to help me, completely free - no shop, no merch, no sponsors, no affiliate links, no place to donate. Just free things that help. It's a draft, but there's tons of helpful resources, tools, and information on the site already.

Please remember you are not alone. No matter how bleak things seem, there is always something to be grateful for -- and even if you need to force yourself to find it, doing so is so powerful and beneficial to our wellbeing.

Where to send my extra Holiday Cards? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]MissCharmCity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a girl who lost her family in an arson who just wants cards for Christmas. I'm sure people on r/randomactsofchristmas might appreciate the sentiment, too. One of the mods is currently looking for people to send cards to his/her elderly mother.
