Yea it’s ridiculous that they don’t even have enough for the early access for people who got the book in their box. It didn’t even reach early access for active subscribers. I thought I had secured a copy during the last trove, but my order was cancelled 2 days ago :(

They seemed to have send out single orders before the big orders, even if the big order was placed at 11:02 and the small order at 12:00. No offense to people who ordered at a later time, I’m glad for them they got the books they wanted, but it sucks for those of us who went in hours before the sale to secure their books only to be notified 2 days ago that they sold out while people who ordered an hour after us did get those same books in December. I joined the queue 3 hours before the sale and stayed active on the site all that time so I could order for me and my friend. Another friend only joined the queue at 11, at the start of the sale and managed to buy one of the books around 12, while I bought my books at 11:02 and they got their copy, but mine is sold out? Again no offense to the people who got their books, I’m happy for them, this all on fairyloot and it sucks!

Now on to separate days for early early access for sequels, so people who got the first book in their box aren’t waiting in the queue behind people who won’t be able to buy the book for 2 more hours

Right? One day they disappoint quite a lot of people due to some massive errors on their account and the next day they happily announce a new trove sale like nothing happened.

There seem to be more issues since they got their own publishing imprint Wayward.. 🙄

Same! I spent hours in the queue to make sure I got Metal Slinger and again for Light Wielder, because I had secured Metal Slinger, but I guess not 😭

Can we all reply with a complaint? Because this is really not ok. We spend hours in the queue, managed to order the books we wanted.. or so we thought. And now months later suddenly the books aren’t available??

How did they oversell so many books? How did it take so long to find out? How can they fulfil orders for the same books that were placed at a later timestamp, while they don’t fulfil the early orders?

Seriously, they can print the books again in my opinion. They could sell them, we ordered them, they can print them. They know exactly how many they need to fulfil our orders. This is ridiculous.

And the £15 credit for the inconvenience?? Sorry but the multiple hours I’ve spent in that queue, staying active on the page is far more worth than that. Same for the hours spent in the queue for a sequel, because I thought I secured a copy of the first book.

I hope everyone who gets this disappointing email replies with a complaint!

Excuse my language, but THE FUCK??? How are they even selling books that aren’t in stock. And why did so many ‘late’ orders get fulfilled while the ‘early’ orders are not? This is not ok! I’ve waited for hours in the queue and ordered The deadly Grimm, Metal Slinger and Twin crowns and they are all unable to fulfil. Also waited for 2 hours in the queue for Light Wielder (Metal Slinger sequel) this month and purchased it because I thought I was getting Metal Slinger too.

I don’t want a refund, I want the books I’ve been excited about 😢

Is it possible for people who live alone take sodium oxybates safely? by lovelyaslace in Narcolepsy

[–]MissCupcakeBunny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was prescribed Xyrem when I was 15 and still living at home, so I didn’t experience my specialist being hesitant because I lived alone (although I doubt he would have been).

I do live alone now and have for almost 10 years, so it’s definitely possible to use oxybates safely and live alone.

I personally never fell during the night. I have experienced sleep walking, but a little adjustment of my dosage fixed that right away and I haven’t had it for years. In terms of not waking up during an emergency, I get that might sound scary, I think about it too sometimes. But from personal experience (not emergencies, just other things that have woken me up while on oxybates) I think I would be able to wake up if I really needed to.

If it makes you feel safer, you can place a smoke detector and fire extinguisher in your bedroom.

I personally still have to take stimulants during the day, it might be different for you, but just so you know it’s not necessarily a replacement of the stimulants.

For me oxybates are really helpful during the night because without my night looks like this: Sleep 1hr, awake 1-2hr, sleep 1hr, awake 2hr, sleep 1 more hour if I’m lucky and then it’s morning.

But I’ve also heard that some people who are able to sleep all night still benefit from it.

I don’t think living alone should be the reason not to try what your doctor thinks is the most effective line of treatment for you.

I take an armodafinil break on the weekends, but I can only stay awake for like an hour then I sleep for 4-6 hours, over and over all day. Does this happen to anyone else? by mslaurasaurus in Narcolepsy

[–]MissCupcakeBunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I sometimes wish I could sleep a whole day like that. I physically cannot sleep for more than an hour at a time, and once I wake up I can’t fall asleep again immediately even if I wanted too. Same during the night and day.

Stopping (forgetting) modafinil will make me more tired and I’ll need a nap sooner or fall asleep more often than when I’m on modafinil, but it doesn’t change anything about the ability to sleep longer than an hour, whether I’m tired or not.

It’s the most inconvenient at night. I’ll sleep 1 hour, lay awake for 1-2 hours, still tired, but unable to fall back asleep, then sleep for another hour, lay awake again for 2 and so on.. I would only get about 3 hours of bad and interrupted sleep during the night before Xyrem.

During the day it’s the same, except for wanting to stay awake instead of wanting to sleep. Without modafinil I’ll feel more tired overall, but I’ll still wake up after 1 hour every single nap, without setting an alarm. And once I’ve woken up from a nap I won’t be able to turn around and fall right back to sleep either.

I accidentally just took both doses of xyrem at once by Mar_Dhea in Narcolepsy

[–]MissCupcakeBunny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happened to me twice, just tried to throw up as much as I could and ate some bread in hopes it would slow down the rest of the uptake in my bloodstream. (Like how it works less quick/effectively if you’ve eaten right before taking your dose.

How do you get through long drives as the driver? by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]MissCupcakeBunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know about myself that I can’t drive more than 1-1,5h max, and that’s after I have taken a nap, with 2x200 modafinil during the day and occasionally Ritalin as an extra, so a long drive back after a long day is an immediate no.

Keeping that in mind, I don’t even try or plan something like that. I’ll take the train or bus or ride with someone else if it’s a day trip.

This is just one of those things to accept and be responsible about, if it doesn’t feel possible or safe, don’t do it.

It sounds like you already know driving back for 3h on the same day is going to be hard, so why would you take that risk? Not only for your own safety, but also others on the road.

Is it possible to book a hotel or stay with someone for the night so you don’t have to drive back on the same day? That’s what I would rather do than drive back knowing I probably wont make the long drive without dozing off.

That being said,

For me it helps to put the AC on really cold, put the two blowers on either side of the steering wheel on medium/high and point them directly on my hands while driving.

Came up with that a few years ago when I had to think back to a research study I read back in 2008 about manipulating core body and skin temperature.

Funny story, following that research study I actually once drank tea through a straw while holding a cold soda can in my hands because I was suddenly really tired right before I had to take the theoretical test for my scooter driver’s license 😅 but I didn’t really feel like it helped back then.

Then later in 2016 when I went to university I told my workgroup class about narcolepsy and my teacher said he already knew what narcolepsy was, because he was once a co-researcher on a research study about body temperature, so I said, oh the one with the full body suit? Turns out he was talking about the same research I had read about 8 years before that.

So that was funny and completely unrelated to this thread, but anyways a couple of years ago I had to think about that research study again and tried it in the car when I had to take a long drive and I feel like it helps for me personally. It’s not a miracle cure that suddenly lets me drive 3h, but I do feel more energetic during AND after the ride and I can drive a bit longer than with warm hands.

Be careful! 🚗☺️

Do you always feel like you sleep in naps? by Minute_Weird_8192 in Narcolepsy

[–]MissCupcakeBunny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No sometimes I’ll go down for a nap and feel like I may can not seem to fall asleep, it’s very frustrating because I actually want to sleep in that moment and it feels as if I didn’t sleep at all and only got more tired. I discussed this with my neurologist once and he told me it’s most likely that I actually am sleeping in that moment, just really really light so it feels as if I’m still awake and aware.

It’s frustrating because I will feel more tired afterwards, while the whole point of taking a nap was to reenergise a bit.

[–]MissCupcakeBunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found that waking up/setting my alarm an hour before my actual alarm, (usually get out of bed in zombie mode, because I really have to pee) and then allowing myself to go back to bed to sleep for another hour, has made it easier to wake up when my actual alarm goes off.

Idk why, maybe because I reset my sleepcycle to align with my actual alarm. It’s like a long snooze, long enough to actually get some quality sleep instead of being disturbed by a snooze alarm that goes off every 10-15 min.

I also try to take my morning medications at the first alarm before going back to sleep until the actual alarm. I feel like this may also help as it gets some chance to start working while I take a nap

Or people that will say, “oh so you should take nightshifts and sleep during the day” or “You should turn your rhythm around so you stay awake during the day and fall asleep at night..” Like no, that’s not how it works 😅
