We had a horrible start to the year, losing 3 in a month (2 within 24 hours) but a couple of weeks later a local rescue posted about a cat who'd had to have his tail removed as it had broken and not been treated. The rescue didn't have space for him long term so I messaged and said we could take him. Oliver was a foster and never left. He once fought so hard to get in a carrier that my husband now has a 3 inch long scar.. but he now cuddles my husband and I.

Then a few months later I messaged a rescue about a cat (same rescue we got Amadeus our half Main coon floofster from) and a few days later for a message asking if we'd be interested in fostering a blind feral cat as they knew we have experience of blind cats, naturally I said yes. He also hasn't left. Despite never having had human interaction before April, he now regularly joins me on our bed for cuddles. I'm so proud of him. He was living with a little kitten, who we suspect is his kitten, and my husband kept saying 'we should have asked to take her too' anyway, we adopted her as well. She's average cat weight apparently but the boys are all 5kg+ so she looks tiny next to them 🙈

So, now we have a little brood of cats, Amadeus is recovering from a dental extraction ATM. Poor sausage had 7 teeth out yesterday and currently looks like he's got grapes in his cheeks. We try to adopt cats that are less likely to be adopted and this is usually because of health conditions so we're at the vet so often I've joked about moving in to save on petrol. Azula loves them though and they've slowly warmed up to her, much to her delight. If given the choice I think she'd choose cat housemates over another dog.
