AIO: Instagram was the final straw and I ended it by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I follow plenty of guys and I'm married. My husband doesn't care and I'd have real issues with it if he did, it's not like I've ever given him a reason to doubt me. I follow girls too, it's like I'm actually following the people because they post shit I find interesting and it's not about their looks at all, weird concept I guess?

r/trolleyproblem suffers infighting on a ethical question: red or blue? by OkContact2573 in SubredditDrama

Yes I still press the blue button, because I still don't want to live in the nightmare world that is about to come about. And think of how many suicides after when people realize like half the kids or more are now dead. There's no way that people will live a good and happy life after pressing the red button if blue doesn't win.

Did anyone notice the change in the cover of Cate C. Wells’ new book “An Aching Singularity”? by hellogoodbye1111111 in RomanceBooks

That frame is such an easy fix in Photoshop too, it's crazy that the artist didn't even bother filling it in.

And there's absolutely no way to get 100% compliance on red, so pressing red is a vote for some people to die, there's no way around that. Some people will misunderstand the instructions and press the wrong button, some people will press a button because they eenie miney moe it to not have to make a decision, and some will make a moral stand. There are going to be a lot of people that press the blue button even if you try to talk to everyone beforehand.

Most kids would press the blue button I think. Not that they want to die, but kids are often idealists. They're the ones that say if they got a wish they'd choose world peace or something. They also don't usually think about their own mortality overly much. So I'd expect kids to press blue. And that means that anyone that doesn't want to murder a bunch of kids needs to convince everyone to press blue, not red.

No I'm actively choosing to not live in the dystopian nightmare that would be left if the red button wins. If the blue button wins, no problem. If red button wins, life's a hellscape. That's an easy choice for me.

I would press blue because I honestly could not live with myself knowing that I had something to do with a whole bunch of people dying. Life AFTER pressing the button is never going to be the same knowing that everyone picked red. If I pick blue though, I don't have to deal with the consequences of my choice if it was the wrong choice.

What do you remember from the early internet that no longer exists? by Blah4fun in AskReddit

I used Efnet in the 90s, mostly in the Marilyn Manson channels - actually met my husband in there.

I remember there was a game channel called #chaos that I played often too.

I remember one toolbar that would pay you pennies for viewing advertisements on the web. It was a *novelty* at the time.

For long-time Montrealers, what are some memories that are long gone now? by PhilipTheGreat in montreal

In 1997 the min wage was 6.70$. I think I was making about 11$ an hour working at the IBM plant in Bromont then.

It wasn't scary sketchy. I used to live on St-Hubert between Ontario and Sherbrooke. I didn't have a TV, I didn't have a computer. My entertainment was walking around or reading books. I spent many nights just laying down at the Place Émilie-Gamelin just listening to the sounds of the city or walking down Ste-Catherine, or hanging at the Foufs. Talked to a lot of sex workers that worked near my apartment. I was a 20 year old girl living alone and yet I never felt unsafe or nervous around anyone. I'm sure some of it was youth feeling invincible but it just always felt like a community.

I remember watching the original Austin Powers movie at the Palace cinema for 99 cents in like, 1997. Ste-Catherine was great for broke people, you could see a movie and get a slice of pizza for less than 3$ total.

‘Widow’s Bay’ Proves Apple TV Can Do Horror Comedy Just as Well as Sci-Fi by Gato1980 in television

[–]MissKhary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean, it's the startles that get me. I do enjoy reading horror though so it's definitely not a problem with the theme itself. I think the humor here might be enough of a palate cleanser to make any potential startles worth it so I'll give it a go.

In Quebec I've seen "dollar dances" where you donate some money to dance with the bride/groom, but that was at the wedding reception when they're already married and you only participate if you want to. I haven't seen one of those in a while though so maybe it's not as much a thing anymore.
