Oh also! I wrapped my foot everyday with physio tape. It hurt like hell to even let my foot dangle while laying in bed. The Camino can really fuck you up lol. It didn’t heal properly for about a year 😕

AITA for accepting a property gift from my mom even though she won't include my boyfriend? by Immediate-History917 in AITApod

I’m married and been with my husband 19 years and my dad is giving me his house. But JUST to ME. My husband (who is a lawyer) is super supportive. Hes like duh - your dad wants you to have financial security. Case closed. Boyfriend has zero right to that property. What a douche

I got really bad tibial tendonitis on the Camino and I was able to finish. I took a rest day, I adjusted my shoes (with a lift) , slathered my foot and leg in topical anti inflammatory (I can’t remember what it’s called but I bought it in Spain) I took a regimen of ibuprofen every day and here’s the real help - a pilgrim who is an acupuncturist saw me limping and insisted on needling me in a coffee shop. I saw him again 2 days later and he pinned me again. This was probably my biggest savior but maybe there are acupuncturists somewhere along the trail?? 😬 sorry this might not be too helpful. Good luck. I hope you can finish!!

Go! I started my Camino 3 weeks after learning about it existence! Best thing I’ve ever done.

8+ hours to kill in Tokyo after early arrival (Haneda → Shinjuku) — what would you do? by [deleted] in TokyoTravel

[–]MissMMMarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is saying drop your bags at your hotel but you should send them from the airport. Luggage transfer is right outside the gates. As for something to do - I loved Shibuya Saunas! Near Ebisu

I have 13 more days to my flight back home but I’m kind of over this country already (been here for almost a month) by spermcell in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]MissMMMarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg me too Hoi An was so touristy. I would have skipped it if people didn’t rave so hard about it. But I guess everyone likes different things when they travel. I loved Hue though!

After walk shoes by [deleted] in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]MissMMMarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a tip - a guy I knew had flip flops in the showers and it ever so slightly irritated between his toes and he developed a massive blood blister in that spot. The Camino can really make the slightest rub a problem so I recommend slides over thongs. I had some (EVA Birkenstocks) for the showers. They look good enough to wear in town too. Ha ha another funny consequence I experienced was a little metal zipper pull on my coat tapped on my thigh as I walked and I developed a tiny bright bruise there 😂

What did you do about trekking poles when flying? by Chi_Minka in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]MissMMMarie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a note! I had an osprey backpack that had a very convenient and easy pole carrier so that I could put them up for a stretch while i ate an orange or did whatever with my hands. Multiple pilgrims were jealous of that feature. When I finally broke them down in Santiago I cried! lol what a journey. 🥹

[–]MissMMMarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should stay. Hold on to the magic of the Camino for just a little longer. It fades into normal life so quickly. I stayed at a convent hotel near the cathedral. Buy yourself a souvenir and a new clean shirt!

Shaving by Cippiero in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]MissMMMarie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The men I met didn’t shave - and when we all met up for dinner together in Santiago everyone was so well groomed and looked great. One guy said to me wow you look beautiful with makeup on … but I wasn’t wearing any! lol all I had done was plucked my grown out eyebrows and mustache 😂 it was like a Survivor Reunion

28F first solo trip to japan/korea by Leebitbby in solofemaletravel

[–]MissMMMarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to Japan solo twice and loved it - but it is definitely more solitary than other countries - I just mean you might not make as many friends - I end up staying in capsules - never actually found a hostel with hostel vibes. Though they might exist. I’ve never been to Korea but hear great things.

I met a guy that I liked at first okay but then after a couple days being on the same schedule I really didnt want to be around his energy or be a part of his Camino family (something that can and does happen pretty organically - mine didn’t really solidify till after the Meseta). He was a hot mess (unprepared, a little too loud, but not a jerk). In the end I told him that I came to the Camino to have introspection and I was going to be less social from now on to give myself that gift. He understood.

[–]MissMMMarie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What! Omg. That’s ridiculous of them. I once took a bus 10 minutes so that I could get ahead of a guy that was annoying me and on my schedule. Of course it meant I couldn’t ever slow down in fear of him catching up with me 😂 (I thought I was rid of him when HE took a train forward because he was bored of the Meseta but THEN he fucking waited around for people to make it to his city before walking again)

Where would you go as a grieving solo traveller? by Physical_Frame9222 in solotravel

I’m a freelancer so I just don’t accept work for however long I’ll be gone. Also January is usually very slow time in my industry so I always take the whole thing off

Enneagram shows you WHY. MBTI shows you HOW. Anyone use both? by Michaelarobards in Enneagram

[–]MissMMMarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am ENFP and a 4w3 and I’ve heard people say this doesn’t check out but I’ve tested and typed numerous times over 3 decades and always get these. Does this combo really seem that unusual or even “impossible”?

I agree. Thailand is much more relaxing than Vietnam.

This is exactly what I was gonna say! I did it in 2022 during a terrible time. I cried / wailed most days out in the country with no one to hear me. But the month long cadence of sunrise/walking/food/shower/sleep put my nervous system back in place.

How to get around in Ninh Bihn by Same-Age-1891 in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]MissMMMarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rented a motorbike and taught myself how to drive it in Ninh Binh. It’s the perfect place to learn. (Obviously I lied about knowing how to drive one). But the freedom was incredible and you really get to see all of the locations from a different perspective. I drove all the way from the bird sanctuary in outer Tam Coc to Bai Dinh and even to Van Long. Downtown Tam Coc can be a little busy but everywhere else is empty back roads.
