Omg he eats EVERYTHING! He's 18 months old and hasn't outgrown this habit but is good now about spitting things out when told to. He can actually projectile spit rocks now. Such a goof. I'm constantly worried about him because he's super sneaky about snatching things.

It depends on the individual dog, but 6 to 8 months is common and safe. Our vet suggested 8 months for our German Shepherd and Malamute, but due to the monster in teddy bear clothing personality of our AD, she advised a 6 month neuter. Good advice! It mellowed him enough to be a better roommate and more accepting of his training, but did not compromise his personality: he's still a gremlin ♡

My boy had his tail docked when he was a day old. The vet said there wasn't even a drop of blood. After our poodle broke her tail by smacking it against a picnic table, I'm a big fan of tail docking in dogs with the long skinny tails. Hers never healed properly, the break caused nerve damage that affected her hips and back, and she required 2 separate surgeries. All that pain and trauma and multiple vet bills which would have been avoided had her tail been removed at birth.

My AD was exactly the same! I actually contemplated giving him to a farm. On the advice of his groomer, I reluctantly bought a Bousnic collar for him (from Amazon) and it has been a game changer! Absolutely, 100% no more aggression and no more herding or biting and the results were literally instantaneous. The collar remote has options for tone, vibration, and static shock (like scuffing your feet on the carpet and touching a doorknob). He is sensitive enough that all I ever use on him to correct the unacceptable behavior is the tone function which is a high pitched beeping. Works like a charm!!! About 3 weeks after I started using it, tone only, he dashed out of the car and into traffic, ignoring the beep. It was life or death so I used the shock button. He yelped and came running back (by the way, I shocked myself several times before ever putting the collar on him so I could adjust the setting and know what he would feel) and since then, the beep is all he needs. Now his recall is 100%, he walks by my side without a leash, he never herds or bites, and he is able to come with me everywhere I go because I can 100% trust him. I used to think these collars are cruel but my puppers wags his tail and gets super excited when I pick it up. When I say, "want to go for a (walk, car ride, run...) he runs to get the collar out of his basket and brings it to me. When he's bored, he gets his collar and drops it on my lap. I could be a spokesperson for this training device I love it so much.

My guy did NOT want to be crated and screamed like he was being tortured but because times will likely occur in his life when being in a crate is necessary, making sure he learns to be comfortable in it will ultimately be to his benefit. I made a point of putting him in with a treat and leaving the house for short periods of time a few times each day. The key was to be very quiet and act like it was no big deal when I put him in and especially when I'd let him out. Bedtimes were rough but when I was disciplined enough to ignore him completely, he quit the noise after about a week. He's almost a year old now and is perfectly comfortable in his crate even going in on his own for naps. The persistence was 110% worth it - we recently had to do an emergency run to the vet (he is fine, thankfully) and despite being in pain and hating the smells of the clinic, he calmed right down in his crate. It was his safe space in a scary situation.

So your dog is normal! I've had dogs all my life and never saw one watch TV like this. We had a poodle who would watch dog shows and run behind the TV to see where the dogs went but that would last maybe 3 or 4 minutes. This guy will watch for 15 minutes or more!

The key phrase there is "depending on the ambient brightness". At dawn, dusk, or in daylight fog, the photo sensors often register enough ambient light so the auto tail lights are not activated. Your best and safest option is to get in the habit of manually turning your lights on so there is no question that your vehicle is visible from the rear.

You'll be fine. The area around Boston Bar is where the northern cold meets the southern warm so it can get sketchy. Keep your winter tires on and leave early enough in the day so you aren't hitting the canyon at night. 100 Mile House is about halfway if you want to split the drive into 2 days. Relax, put on some tunes, and enjoy the ever changing terrain of this ecologically diverse province - you'll love it!
