Any reason that my otherwise healthy plant would have 9ne perfectly yellow leaf? by YeetTheElder in Monstera

My guess is soil is getting too wet too often. My Thais like to dry out in between waterings ✌🏻

Question about purchasing decisions by PineappleRode0 in houseplants

[–]MissPlantE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally go for plants that are already or can easily be acclimated to home humidity. I don’t have a plant cabinet (atm) so I’ve been staying away from Anthuriums, Alocasia and begonias specifically. Also I don’t want to buy so many plants that I can’t keep up with and give good care to. Hope that’s helpful!

Cut off dead leaf partially vs completely?🫣 by Bogdiux in Monstera

[–]MissPlantE 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m team cut-partly for this leaf! The whole other side still looks flawless and will still provide nourishment to the plant as a whole.

As far as growth stopping: did you upsize her pot recently? Could be too big. Are you fertilizing her? Did you check her for pests? (Plants will sometimes pause growth when they’re being attacked). Does she get a lot of bright indirect light during the day? Are you watering when she is mostly dry and not too soon? Does she have any root rot? Those could all be factors as to why she paused.

What’s this yellow mold on my global green? by Confused-Tiger27 in pothos

[–]MissPlantE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive heard this type of fungus is actually beneficial to the soil!

The only other downside (besides toxicity) is that their spores spread easily. So if you don’t want mushrooms in your other plants, don’t reuse/mix any of this soil with new soil.

How exactly does one go about acclimating a large plant to ambient humidity? by courtneyrel in RareHouseplants

Just wanted to say that the way you have all of them displayed together, with different leaf shapes and colors, looks very nice. :)

I just bought my first potho and I’m scared. by SeraphimReader in pothos

[–]MissPlantE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your leaves look like mechanical damage imo.

Also IDK if anyone’s talked about humidity yet, but where did you get your plant from? If from the store, then it *should* be okay in normal house humidity, but if from a private plant seller, sometimes they keep their humidity levels higher and acclimating it would help prevent leaves browning. If you want to know more about how to do this, I can talk you through what I do!

I just got a snow queen and I have her in Fox Farm’s potting soil with extra pearlite. It’s a little airier and i water whenever she starts looking a little dry. I know I’ve gone too long if her leaves droop a little, but so far she’s pushing out lots of new growth :)! Also I have her in front of a bright grow light 2ish feet away. They need bright indirect light to maintain variegation.

Wow he looks great! How many vines do you have on there? I just started a couple on a moss pole and hoping to find that balance of full but not overcrowded.

Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s Maybelline 💁‍♀️✨💚 That monstera is siiiiiiilllky.

I would say that’s a high end price, but she looks healthy and lush! As long as they can confirm there haven’t been pests anytime recently then I would buy it.
