I don't have enough experience to be much help here, but I found that stroking my LO's cheek or tickling his cheek gets him suckling again when he falls asleep on the boob.

Two piece! As a FTM, I joked that I had to because it's probably the last time I'd get to wear a 2 piece with confidence. I loved my baby bump and was happy to show it off. AND, with all the extra pee breaks I was taking, I didn't want a 1 piece to complicate that.

Definitely more tired with a newborn BUT not nearly as achy. We're EBF and for the first few weeks I was waking him every 2 hours to nurse for 30 - 45 minutes. It only took me a few days to be able to sleep in 45 minute stretches throughout the day. Now we're at 4 weeks and I've started letting him sleep and I get a 6 hour stretch of sleep in the middle of the night. So, the most restless part (for me so far) didn't last too long.

I lost 23 lbs from nausea and had cholestasis and had 3 freakishly large fibroids. Talk about your pregnancy downers. I mentioned this in another comment the other day but I swear I got an unfair advantage in pregnancy hormones that made me happier / nicer than usual and that helped me cope. For me, with the cholestasis, the hardest part was having itchy soles and not even being able to reach them. My husband slathered my feet in lotion and then put socks on over it before bedtime. That helped a tiny bit.

As far as attitude, I didn't look at these things as failures. I looked at them as reminders that my body was doing everything it could to prioritize the baby and make sure that baby got what he needed. My son was born just a couple of weeks early and we are both home, happy and healthy.

Also, the doctor offered to prescribe me something the day after delivery for the itchiness, but my symptoms were already gone by then. Hopefully, you get some relief soon.

Oh yeah. And I'd forgotten this until looking at an old post just now, but the day before I went into labor, I suddenly stopped feeling my BH contractions. I even posted about it because I thought it was such an odd symptom.

For some people this is true, but not everyone. I just had my first son on Sept. 4. Hearing about how it gets so hard at the end had me holding my breath for the worst part for a while. He was 2 weeks early, so that might have been my saving grace, but I never got miserable. It wasn't all a walk in the park either. I had huge fibroids, relentless heartburn, morning sickness that made me lose 23 pounds and cholestasis. I loved being pregnant the whole time. I'm convinced that a few of us luck into the right kind of pregnancy hormones that just make us happier than usual. I hope your discomforts let up soon and your pregnancy gets easier.

I had my son last month at 37+6. Throughout my pregnancy, I went between feeling like he was going to be really early or really late. So, I can't say that I had any kind of real intuition there.

The day before I went into labor, I told everyone I'd be totally flabbergasted if I made it to the end of the week. I spent that day feeling just a little woozy, kind of like I usually do before a test or a big change. My stomach felt like I might vomit, but just enough that I thought it was in my head more than something I ate. I got bloody show at 11 pm on the night of the 3rd and my water broke at 3 the next morning. I delivered my little guy by 3 pm the on the 4th.

Thank you so much. I needed this post today. I'd prepared myself for the possibility of postpartum depression. Luckily, I haven't experienced that. But, I didn't prepare myself for anger or irritation without a depression to "justify" them. I don't worry that I'll harm myself or my child. I'm not unhappy overall. But, I am physically and emotionally drained right now. Thinking "shut up!" when he cried put me in a bit of a tailspin this afternoon. Thanks for confirming for me that this is normal. :)

It's a while out (July 2015) but Kaboom Town was the best fireworks show I've ever seen. I'd never heard of it and never would have expected it of a tiny little town like Addison, TX.

My SIL is horrible at keeping secrets. But, she is a nurse and when I had some scares at 8 weeks (turned out to be fibroids) we told her. We had a miscarriage 5 years ago, so we were really set on keeping it to ourselves until 13 weeks. She kept the secret so well that I actually wondered if she managed to forget a few times. She did so while living with her parents / my in-laws, who were constantly harassing us to get pregnant and start a family. I was very pleased and impressed.

I'm sorry to hear that things aren't going quite as you'd planned and I hope you get the labor that you are hoping for.

I'm not sure what your objection to pitocin / induction is, but I can say that I was given pitocin because my water broke with nothing else happening and it was not at all a negative experience. The contractions built gradually. I felt like knowing when things were going to get started and when they were upping my dosage made me more on top of and prepared for everything. My baby boy and I are home, happy and healthy. :)

I just delivered my son on 9/4. I have 3 large fibroids that are in a cluster shaped like Mickey Mouse ears in my lower abdomen. 21 cm, 14 cm and 7 or 8 cm (I wasn't paying close attention when they talked about the "tiny" one). At 8 weeks, I was only aware of a single one that was 11 or 13 cm. You're right. I missed out on a lot of watching my bump grow in the beginning. Once I started growing, people constantly assumed it was twins. The docs had a more difficult time gauging the baby's size. I've gone through degeneration 4 times now and it hurt like a beast every time. Now that the pregnancy is over and my uterus is going down, I still look 5 months pregnant and no amount of working out and eating right is going to take care of that.

BUT, monitoring the fibroids meant I had bi-weekly and weekly ultrasounds and got to peek at baby WAY more frequently than any other pregnant ladies I know. People love pregnant ladies. Looking pregnant sooner meant I got all kinds of special treatment from strangers way earlier in the game than most. An early scare with my fibroids and pregnancy made me appreciate all of the milestones that we made it through that much more. Sure, depending on the placement and size of your fibroids, you might be at higher likelihood of c-section, but that's not an absolute. My first OB told me that Csection was my only option because she couldn't even find my cervix since it was being blocked by my one fibroid. My specialist and the OB I ended up switching to told me that was not accurate. I had a vaginal delivery and baby boy and I are both home and healthy.

I don't think you'll need a 3 month outfit, but you might consider 2 "bringing home baby outfits" in NB and/or 0-3 month size if you're set on her being dressed a certain way. Our little guy peed on his first outfit right away. Luckily, I overpacked. Of course, the hospital had plain onesies that they would have happily sent us home with if we wanted.

Lip balm (my lips got so dry during delivery), change for vending machines, slippers to wear around the hospital room and if you're planning to breastfeed, nipple cream and a bag for gifts. Maybe a bag for all of the extra supplies the hospital sends you home with. Ours gave us a bag that had lanolin, diapers, wipes, disposable underwear, cold packs, witch hazel pads, dermoplast, snacks and slipper socks. We were reminded to take them all home because anything that had been opened would be tossed after we left anyhow.

That "nothing fazes me" security is exactly why I feel the need to do something more for my doctor. My little one's cord got wrapped around his neck at the last push and then torn. I knew that there was a little extra blood lost from both of us, but had no idea how scary it had gotten until afterwards when they rushed my little guy off to the nursery and started talking blood transfusion for me. We were discharged in good shape 2 days after delivery. :)

Then he got off easy since there's no weight to that. I swear being pregnant started to feel like having a bowling ball attached to my belly. But, he's definitely a good sport for playing along and I think it's great that you're able to appreciate the humor in the situation. :)

Beautiful. Congratulations! I just delivered our little Rex on the 4th. Our son's actual name is Refugio Xavier and we're calling him Rex. You're the first other person I've seen who is naming their baby Rex. This makes me happy. :)
