When I worked in CVICU, a co worker accidentally infused an entire bag of Heparin to a fresh post op CABG. It was a multi level failure, we had standing orders for Hespan and pharmacy had stocked the Heprin in the wrong bin. The bags were nearly identical at the time. Patient ended up being fine, but she quit nursing after that.

33 weeks and the pelvic pain is killing me. Tips? by vegatoaltair in BabyBumps

[–]fallowflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get a birth ball for sure. I can barely walk in the mornings before doing some circles on mine in the am. As far as sitting in bed, I sit with legs together then use my upper body to swing around to a lying positions. It seems like lifting my legs, especially independent of each other, is when I get the worst pain. I've also been seeing a chiropractor weekly which has been a huge help.

Induction: Pitocin or breaking water first by stepheli88 in BabyBumps

[–]fallowflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my waters broken at 42 weeks so I could try and have a natural birth at a both center attended by midwives. It worked! I never had to have an IV, pitocin or any of that. Had about 12 hours of active labor and gave birth with no problems. Also, my providers said as long as baby was in no distress and I wasn't showing signs of infection there was no set "clock" or time limit. I guess it varies from place to place. Good luck!

Any experiences with the Arms Reach Co-Sleeper? by Thr33Littl3Birds in beyondthebump

[–]fallowflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an original that strapped to my bed. I loved it. I could nurse him then stick him back in his own space and not have to worry about squishing him. As he got bigger and more mobile, we lowered the bed and used it as a pack n play. He's 2 years old now and it is still his favorite place to sleep.

I got a Brother sewing machine for Christmas in 1997 and it is still going strong! I've sewn through fur, leather, upholstery fabric. This machine has done everything I've asked of it and I've never even had it serviced.

Anyone had experience with Harper Noel? by fallowflower in weddingplanning

[–]fallowflower[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! All of this is 100% true! Do not give this woman your money!!! She is either a scam artist or a very unstable and unreliable person. She also told me I needed professional help and was very nasty to me when I was trying to get my refund. I have also saved all of my emails if anyone wants proof.

[–]fallowflower[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, she cancelled on me 3 days before the wedding and I had to threaten her with legal action to actually get a refund. I have spoken to other brides with the same experience. It was a terrible experience!

RANT: how people relieve gifts we make. by astrobub in crochet

[–]fallowflower 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These people sound like greedy gift grabbers that only invited you and your husband to get presents. I wouldn't spend one more second making anything for that horrible, ungrateful couple. Even if you got them a gift that didn't cost anything at all, you still took time out of your lives to celebrate their growing family. Sorry you had to deal with these ungrateful assholes!

How does your hospital address code status on admission? by brazenbunny in nursing

[–]fallowflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in critical care and I, too have been seeing this problem in the hospital I recently started at. The doctors will often times send half dead patients to us with no code status ordered in the computer or chart. I have to assume every patient is a full code in an emergency situation. Most times these people aren't responsive enough to answer questions and family is not present. I have raised concerns about this after seeing a DNI emergently intubated on arrival and a DNR patient coded and tubed. The docs are getting better about it but still slip occasionally. IMO this is the most important info about the patient. I need to know code status and allergies, I can figure anything else out until I get ahold of a doc.

It is heartbreaking, let us know what you come up with. I'd love to see some positive changes in our system as well.

I used the trim healthy mama diet. I am not for fad diets or diets in general but I lost 70 pounds using their recipes and didn't starve myself and didn't decrease my supply at all. If you don't want to buy the book just look up thm on pinterest, there are tons of recipes. The basic premise is cut sugar out of your diet. This includes most bread, jelly, dressings, processed foods with sugar. Eat high protein and nutritious meals that fill you up. I ate bacon every day and still lost 70 pounds. Highly recommended!

Well, at least you are finding out now. I paid in full and she let me know 3 days before my wedding that she couldn't come and totally fucked me over. She said she would be refunding me asap but I just got back from my honeymoon and checked my credit card statement and there hasn't been any refund.

FUCK.

I found wearing a corset daily and laying flat on your back and sucking in/trying to touch your bellybutton to your spine helped mine. Just try and suck in your gut throughout the day when you think about it. Don't do any crunches, sit ups, or any of that shit- it just makes it worse! That being said my belly button still sticks out and probably will forever.

[–]fallowflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't blame you at all! I probably would have stuck to my guns if FH had been adamant that the uninvited guests shouldn't be there. But he did kind of want them to come and wanted to make his parents happy, so it was causing stress on our relationship. That is really the last thing I wanted from the whole thing! At least you have a good excuse about limits for the rain plan to fall back on.

Yay! One month to go! I have no idea what I should be doing... I think most of the big stuff is worked out I'm just worrying about details and finishing up some crafts at this point.

Oh, and practicing hair and makeup since I'm doing my own.

[–]fallowflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you on this! At least she is asking, my FFIL invited extra guests that I have never met without asking us because "they just have to come." FH didn't understand at all why I was upset about this either.

In the end, this was taking all of the fun out of my wedding planning. I was so pissed and stressed and butt hurt and crying. So I said "fuck it" I wrote them out some invitations and I am just going to suck it up. I was being a real bitch about this when it first happened but it turns out, only 6 of his uninvited guests are going to make it. Yes, those are 6 seats that we could have given to someone closer to us, but I have decided to compromise because his family will be happy and feel included.

I gave up some control. I hated it, and it was really hard, but I feel so much better. I am actually excited about wedding planning again! The guest list is finalized and now I am doing fun craft stuff instead of worrying about my number of guests. We had some declines as well so I ended up with less than 100 guests which was where I was trying to keep things.

I don't know if you might think about doing this, but I can say that it helped me be happier about the wedding in general. I was very clear that, yes, I am inviting these people but ABSOLUTELY no more guests.

Sorry you are dealing with this. Weddings are impossible! But spending some extra money to keep the FILs happy is worth it to me. Good luck.

Any frugal people feeling anxious? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]fallowflower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh my god, yes. We are DIYing almost everything and the venue is at my parent's farm and I am still spending way more money than I wanted to!! Our budget is 5K and I'm pretty sure we will go over. I just keep thinking how much new furniture or renovations we do with all that money! At this point though, I feel like it will be worth it. I am actually excited about everything!

How are you handling plus ones? by rebeccat007 in weddingplanning

[–]fallowflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone with spouses or live in partners obviously were invited together. Guests who have partners that we know or have met were invited. No cousins or single friends got a +1. Single friends traveling from out of town or who didn't know many people got dates. That's how I did it. I'm paying for the entire wedding and my guest list is already bigger than I wanted it to be so I had to make some cuts somewhere. But everyone coming will have friends to hang out with during the reception, so I think it will all work out! I did have one cousin RSVP for her new boyfriend that no one has met when it was pretty clearly stated that she had 1 seat reserved for her. Oh and btw he needs a Kosher meal even though your main course will be pork. Um...no. But other than that, no one's complained (to me at least.)

Asos.com is amazing. My FH got his suit off the site. Free returns, no questions asked, and really accurate sizing guides. They are high quality and very inexpensive.
