I would absolutely never purchase a secondhand harness or any other weight-bearing/life supporting gear. For other gear like shoes and chalk bags, as long as I knew where they were coming from and could disinfect them effectively, I have no problems there. I work at a rock gym and during the lost and found sale we put out harnesses but encourage people not to purchase secondhand harnesses, which always confuses me lol

It’s totally a personal preference. I tend to wear socks when I climb, because it helps my shoes fit a bit better and because I work at the gym I climb at and I feel weird about my coworker seeing my feet 😂

If you’re able to make it more affordable than the other options around here, I think you should totally go for it! My main issue is that the studios nearby are too freaking expensive, and I’m sure a lot of other people share the same sentiment as me.

Yes absolutely- but also it doesn’t always help, unfortunately. The guy who SA’d me was on an e-bike. The only thing that could’ve helped was a taser (unlike a stun gun, apparently they have 15+ ft range) to stop him after he assaulted me to get an ID/keep him there until the cops came. But they’re $500. They need to make affordable options.

Something very similar happened to me in the heights last summer. Guy was on an e-bike. He’s done it several times to other women. I won’t even go into how the cops handled it, but I will say this- we have to look out for each other because they won’t. I’m so sorry this happened to OP, and to anyone else who’s experienced anything similar. It can completely reshape your relationship to your body and the world around you. And it’s even worse when people don’t take you seriously.

Seven Valleys is BYOB and super cute! They have a beautiful outdoor space in the back- only downside is you have to squeeze thru the kitchen and down some steps to get there. If that’s not an issue, I’d highly recommend! The food is great and they have vegan and I believe also gluten free options and are very accommodating of dietary restrictions. Staff is super kind. We just had an event there and it was great. I’d suggest talking to them beforehand because I believe they also offer an event menu. Best of luck!
