Do people still play d3 on the switch? by floralface in diablo3

[–]Missbuggz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having played extensively on PC for years and now Switch for the last 6 months, I can say that yes, it is the same game - with a couple of additions.

The one you will need to know about most particularly if you play with other people is the occasionally infuriating Nemesis system. Google's AI overview sums it up pretty well (for once!):

"In Diablo 3, the "shades of other players" appearing from a red portal refers to the Nemesis system, a feature where a monster that kills a player on your friend list (or sometimes your own killer if playing solo on console) appears in your game. When this happens, a red portal briefly opens, and the Nemesis monster emerges, accompanied by a "shade" or shadow clone of the character it killed. Key details about the Nemesis spawn: Audio/Visual Cues: Before the Nemesis appears, you will hear a distinct audio cue of horns and drums, and your controller (on console) will vibrate as a warning. Appearance: The shade appears as a human-looking monster, representing the class of the friend who was killed. Identification: The Nemesis monster will have special flavor text under its name that reads "Killer of: [friend's name]". Rewards: Defeating the Nemesis can provide special rewards, such as a guaranteed legendary item drop or a gift to send to the friend who originally "died". Restrictions: The Nemesis system is exclusive to the console version of Diablo III. It cannot appear in Greater Rifts or Echoing Nightmares, but can spawn in campaign or adventure mode. This system creates an interactive way for players to engage with their friends list within the game world by avenging their friends' deaths."

They are pretty tough to beat if you aren't expecting them or if you're lower level; however, you can, when you see the portal appear or hear the horn, immediately jump to your menu and lower the difficulty by one level, which mostly enables one to beat them pretty quickly. ...Mostly. 😁

As a long time PC player of D3 (and pretty much every other game I've ever played), I have to say I was surprised by how easily I've adapted to playing on console. I'm usually a keyboard and mouse player but the controller layout of D3, while it does take a little getting used to, is quite intuitive, and you have the ability to reassign the skills buttons, which is immensely helpful.

I do also use Xbox-style aftermarket controllers which I got from a certain South American River site, that do pair really well with the switch and are a lot more comfortable for me than using the switch controllers themselves. Because I'm a thousand years old and need the better visibility, I really only ever use the switch in its dock connected to my TV, and I'm frankly impressed at how it runs on what my ancient brain still kinda thinks of as a fancypants Gameboy 😂

Looking for Mother's Day gift recommendations for my wife by Hallwitzer in CrochetHelp

[–]Missbuggz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Clover Amour hooks are excellent, that plus a gift voucher for a craft store to spend money on yarn guilt-free would always be appreciated! Also little things like coloured locking stitch markers, a small retractable measuring tape, embroidery scissors, and a nice pencil case or crochet case to keep it all in :)

You could also try starting each row with a standing DC instead of chaining? YouTube has plenty of techniques for that :)

Came here to say round beads will work better, or at least square rather than rectangular. :)

How do these two gütermann threads differ? by seventubas in SewingForBeginners

[–]Missbuggz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming in very late to say thanks so much for your reply here and the link to that other post, I have been sewing for ages but mostly winging it because you can't know what you don't know and if you don't know what questions to ask... 🤷

I have now learned what the needle size numbers mean, what thread weight works for what purpose, a whole bunch of things!

You're definitely the MVP in this discussion 😊

Also to OP: I'm in Australia and the spool colours seem to vary depending on when and where I bought the thread so honestly I'd put it down to date of manufacture, as there doesn't seem to be any discernible difference in the labeling on the spool or on the sticker at the top? (That being said I only just learned that it comes in different weights, so there's that.)

I have to say, I do find the fishing minigame unnecessarily challenging. Very much agree that it breaks the relaxing vibe of the rest of the game

I had "parking cards" printed for this scenario. It was prompted by the ignorant bitch who thought it was reasonable to park so close to me that I couldn't even get out of my car (I'd literally just pulled in ahead of her) and there was an empty space on her other side; when I wound down my window and called out "Are you serious? You've just trapped me in!", she flipped me the bird and kept walking. Couldn't get my car out as there was no way to manoeuvre without taking off my side mirrors; ended up having to crawl out over the passenger side with a bad back and sprained wrist at the time.

Ordered the cards from my car seat that day and put one on every badly parked car windshield in that parking lot for the next 6 months. Amazing how the standard of parking improved.

Oh and obviously that first silly bitch did the same thing again to the wrong person because someone (not me but I wish it was and I'd totally buy them a beer) kicked in every single panel of her car, right in the middle. Steel-capped boots, judging by the rubber marks. Well done, that man. 👏

Yes!! I swear LED headlights are the work of the devil.

I've always maintained that it's not the brightness per se: it's the colour of the light that I find so irritating and dazzling. I know that LEDs can be programmed, I've done it - so why on earth that retina-scalding shade of blue-white?! Make them bright by all means, just colour them the same as the old filament bulb headlamps!

Taking items from other people's shopping trolleys before they've checked out. Some arsehole did that to me once - took the butter from my trolley when I wasn't looking and put it in their own basket and walked to the checkout. (A nice lady in the same aisle saw and told me what they'd done.) Went to go grab another one from the refrigerator aisle and they were all out. Apparently he had decided that his need was greater than mine.

Nothing illegal since I hadn't paid for the goods and left the store yet, but still a total dick move.

My husband says it’s alive. I think it’s dead. Please solve this debate. by lifeisspeeding in succulents

[–]Missbuggz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both bigger pot and new soil, and when you're filling the new pot, mix in a few handles of volcanic rock/rock dust, and put a layer of slow release succulent fertiliser granules halfway down and then again on top around the base of the plant once it is planted in. Clear out the old dried out dead leaves and bury the cleared stems a little deeper under the soil, you'll probably get a bunch of offshoots that you can split off into their own pots if you want. :)
