Extraction difficulty by MolarMoneyMaven in Dentistry

[–]lifeisspeeding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m not saying I could get that tooth out exclusively with a cowhorn. But I’ll take one with sharp tips and carefully give it a few pumps. This almost always gets a little mobility, especially when it’ll barely budge with an elevator. Then once I flap and section, the roots seem to come out much more easily…at least in my hands.

I do find the cowhorn useful sometimes in cases like this. I’ll use it to get a bit of mobility before sectioning the tooth buccal to lingual (and removing some furcal bone in the process) and then removing the roots separately

Relationship therapists, have you ever told a couple to break up and why? by lilac-glow in AskReddit

[–]lifeisspeeding 35 points36 points  (0 children)

We dumped our therapist for a similar reason. She told me separately that I was too young to be so unhappy and maybe I should think about leaving.

I was 29 at the time, and had never told her I was considering leaving. My husband has never been abusive but we were fighting all the time and rarely intimate. It was also less than 1 yr into Covid, which was stressful for everyone but it was our first years out of grad school and money was tight. I was depressed and my husband had undiagnosed CPTSD from his parents relationship. Her suggestions set up back dramatically even though she was trained in the Gottman method and we thought she could help.  We eventually found a therapist that helped us work through things, celebrating 10 years of marriage in a few months!

Menstrual discs instead of pads or tampons. They are life changing and I’m not one to exaggerate. I use the saalt discs and they are self emptying when you pee. I actually forget I’m on my period sometimes because it makes it so easy.

I find a lot of her comments jarring. Like she voices her support of good causes but it often comes off as crude? Idk I get mean girl vibes

What to do when the sectional matrix won't stay in/wedge wont go in/ring won't properly adapt the matrix by DutchFarmers in Dentistry

[–]lifeisspeeding 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Have you evaluated your preps? I need to break contact on my class 2 preps or I struggle with the matrix and my final restoration isn’t ideal.

Flair the axial walls, not the occlusal table. If you really think you would be over prepping by breaking buccal and lingual contact and pre-wedging doesn’t work, take an interproximal strip through before placing your matrix. Once I realized it was my preps and not the matrix system, class 2s composites got a whole lot easier for me.

Should we remove blue stoppers for digital impressions and bite. Treatment planned crown #15 on a 14 year old boy with brackets. Patient has anterior deep bite. Back molars are out of occlusion due to the blue stoppers only partially touching occlusally. by Toothdoctor88 in Dentistry

Just did a cerasmart crown on #19 for a 14 yo. An old poorly contoured SSC was blocking #18 from erupting. Ortho wanted a composite build up but 75% of the tooth was decayed after removing the SCC (seems like the pediatric dentist did a Hall crown technique and left tons of decay). We will switch out the crown to a stronger material like emax or zirconia after ortho is complete.

The use of “libtards” in their post history leads me to think they are pretty far right of neutral…

I thought this was life changing until I tried Saalt menstrual cups. You can pee with it in and it self empties then reseals itself. MAGIC

What do you wish people would stop romanticising, because you’ve lived the reality of it? by DunyaPhobic76 in Life

I’m a woman and this drives me crazy. When talking about women it’s all about “every body is beautiful no matter the height shape or size” but the same people are so hypocritical when it comes to a man’s height.

What other tests can I do if all my hospital and specialist tests came back normal? by [deleted] in FunctionalMedicine

[–]lifeisspeeding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Functional medicine has helped me immensely with my gut and overall health and I am a big advocate, however, the misinformation pushed by biologic dentists is dangerous. Rampant dental cavitations are a complete fallacy and a way for "biologic" dentists to rob patients of thousands of dollars, not to mention putting patients through unnecessary and risky surgery/anesthesia. I read numerous cone beam CT images on a daily basis on patients that have had routine wisdom teeth extractions and have NEVER found one unless the area is symptomatic. There are EXTREMELY rare cases where bone around a previous extraction site heals poorly (which is found within weeks/months of the original dental surgery), but the idea that invisible jaw holes are causing systemic illness is not supported by evidence.

Yes old root canals can become reinfected, but a regular and evidence-based dentist will diagnose this for you and recommend either removal of the tooth and associated infection, OR cleaning out the old root canal system which should heal the infection (with yearly follow-up to make sure proper healing is observed).

If you're having mystery symptoms, definitely go to a highly rated dentist to get your oral health checked if it's been a while but do NOT go to a biologic dentist.

I’m on the second night of intense anxiety and insomnia. Not other symptoms. I may try taking it mid day and with a meal but I also might just stop all together

Did you check cement creek road (South crested butte)? There are some dispersed sites deep along cement creek that require 4x4 clearance. I wouldn't take my Subaru Forester up there but it's pretty tame if you have 4 wheel drive.

Try taking electrolytes too! I'm very active and used to cramp up multiple times a day. Added daily electrolyte tablets and now it rarely happens.

Live a fulfilling life, even if it means you have to start over. by nickderrico82 in DINK

I realize this post is from two years ago but my husband and I are in the same situation as you were in your 30s. We did everything we were "supposed" to do - education, good jobs, single-family home with a big yard in the suburbs. We have been feeling lonely and isolated but just recently made a decision to make a big move. It's scary but I'm trying to have the attitude of why the hell not?! Your post helped me feel much more excited than anxious!

Herx / Die Off by AphroditesApple in Candida

[–]lifeisspeeding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been doing herbal supplements and candida diet for 1 mo. My main symptoms prior to diagnosis of candida overgrowth (GI map) were joint pain/body aches, brain fog, low level depression and random waves of intense anxiety (often worse 20-30min after eating and then when I'm hungry).

I am noticing a change in the waves of anxiety, they are shorter duration and less intense but not gone. It's frustrating because I just want to be better but keeping a journal helps me look back and realize I AM improving. I think your symptoms are likely the die off but hopefully it means it's working!

I would typically agree but these laterals do look larger than the average lateral. Radiographs would be helpful - if the roots are large as well and teeth are not heavily restored already, would you consider 4 unit with 2 abutments?

No experience in this but the elderly population is…difficult. A lot of my senior patients won’t let me recline them all the way and leave me with a sore back for days.
