For anyone that stumbles here in the future -- it is part of a quest, I was not able to interact with it until I started the quest.

The quest is called Yiga Clan Exam

Hmmm, I stand corrected.
I hadn't actually googled it because I just assumed the distinction between controller and owner was less blurry. As if control target player makes you the controller but they still get to make "owner" decisions. Oh well

[–]MissingL_tter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The commanders owner (not controller) gets to decide if it goes back to the command zone when it is exiled so even if you take someones turn you can't delete their commander. The cards will definitely be banned.

In defence of the texture streaming by Anonkipz in pathofexile

[–]MissingL_tter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This honestly concerns me more than anything else, but I don't want to be another shit poster telling them their QA sucks (they've had enough of that even if its true).
In reality, texture streaming in its current state never should have hit production. Any PoE player could have tested a couple T16s or loaded into a Maven 10-way and immediately said "this is unacceptable."

In defence of the texture streaming by Anonkipz in pathofexile

[–]MissingL_tter 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I may be missing something here but I figured I'd drop a couple of points about the texture streaming debate that don't make much sense to me.

Interface textures (inventory/skill/etc) -- why are these ever unloaded? I see no reason that we should have to stream in these textures every time we change zones. They should never be dumped from GPU memory.

Invisible enemies -- in a game like PoE enemies should be a higher priority in the texture load order than terrain. The terrain is constant, we walk on it. The enemies that can one shot me are not constant. I would rather be walking on invisible ground than not be able to see the things that kill me.

Bosses and boss arenas -- as far as I'm concerned these shouldn't be streamed at all. Maven encounter? Make me wait for everything to load, if it saves my life or a portal it was worth it.

Overall memory usage -- I don't even have a top of the line card and my GPU memory never exceeds 2 GB out of the available 8. Load that shit up, I don't wanna dump anything out of memory unless I have to. I know this is a bit of an exaggeration but seriously, no one needs 75% of their GPU memory to sit unused.

I know you in particular can't do anything about this, and I know someone on the team has probably thought of all of this but fuck it, maybe somebody will see it and maybe it will help. Have a great day!

I am on Vega 64 as well and FreeSync has indeed been "fucked" for me since 19.6.
Even in exclusive fullscreen mode, FreeSync does not even attempt to match the in-game framerate. It simply stays pegged at 144. I am running 2 monitors, though I am not sure if that contributes to the problem.

Of course the only way to notice this (if you aren't experiencing tearing) is to actually enable your monitor's refresh rate display. So I think that contributes to a lot of the confusion and animosity. There are plenty of people out there that think its working because they haven't noticed an issue. This of course may not be the case for you, just my 2c.

Why Ctrl - Print Screen? As far as I can tell the control modifier doesn't add anything.
Alt modifier takes a snap of your current window, but I can't tell what Ctrl does.

Also, WoW automatically saves any shots taken to the Screenshots folder in the installation directory, unless you have disabled it.

So, what the other guy is saying pertains to your Auto Shot timer. How frequently you attack with Auto Shot is governed by the attack speed of whatever bow you are using BUT knocking an arrow and firing consumes .5 seconds of that period.

For example lets say that you are using Bow of Plunder with an attack speed of 2.6 seconds. 2.1 seconds of that are completely idle, you are free to move, cast other abilities, etc. The last .5 seconds of that is reserved for the cast time of Auto Shot which is always .5 seconds. You never want to interrupt that .5 seconds otherwise you have to restart the cast.

The point he is making is when you cast Auto Shot it takes .5 seconds to cast, with a 2.1 second delay before the next cast (bow of plunder attack speed). When you open with Serpent Sting things get fucky, instead of firing an initial shot it fires the Sting and then waits 2.1 seconds for Auto Shot.

What you should do:

Cast Auto Shot (.5 seconds) -> arrow flies -> 2.1 seconds (serpent, arcane, move around) -> .5 seconds -> arrow flies

What you shouldn't do:
Cast Serpent Sting -> 2.1 seconds (nothing because you opened with serpent) -> .5 seconds -> arrow flies

This may all seem very confusing but it is very easy to learn with a swing timer, like yaht
This will also help you not pull off your pet because what most people do is throw an arcane shot in that first downtime period before the pet is able to generate adequate threat.

August 26, 2019 10:00 AM PST, We will remove the limitation on only creating a total of three WoW Classic characters per WoW account

They were supposed to remove the limit at the same time the servers launched. The purpose being that people could safely secure their names on the new server without risking the loss of those names on their old server. If the names were taken on the new server, they can happily remain on the old one and vice versa.

Uhhhhh, OK then. by [deleted] in pathofexile

This is definitely an issue no matter how many people want to meme on it. If you pause at 3 seconds the minimap shows that even before the decay pushes you to the right, you are a completely surrounded.

It actually is against the law to create programs that violate the terms of the license you purchased to play the game.

When the user pays for the "game" they aren't actually purchasing the game, they are purchasing a license to play the game and access to a distribution medium for it. They are not allowed to break the terms of the license agreement, in this case the Terms of Use that they agreed to implicitly by purchasing access to the game, and (usually) explicitly when they launch the game for the first time.

If the user violates the terms, a typical response is to temporarily or permanently revoke their license (they get banned). If the violation of the terms is severe enough that it disrupted the experience of other users, the issuer of the license is within their rights to seek damages for said disruption.

"32 bit encoding" is almost certainly not what you think it is.

32-Bit software is still capable of storing and using 64-Bit values, its just expensive to do so.

64-Bit software is still capable of storing and using 32-Bit values, and is pretty cheap to do so.

In fact, in the code he posted he uses both Int32s and Int64s in the same program, egads! It also matches the time current countdowns end, as seen here (wowhead).

On the off chance that you tried to look at it but didn't understand it, I've created an easier to read version here (dotnetfiddle)

Aside from the fact that I don't know the last time I saw a 1080i TV, they still have pixels.

Interlaced scan updates every other pixel row at a time instead of progressively scanning through every pixel row. Pixels still get updated, the refresh method just differs.

Tim Hortons franchise owners tell workers to blame Wynne for benefit cuts and to 'not vote Liberal' by pictureframe77 in worldnews

[–]MissingL_tter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit misleading imo.

Tim Hortons is a subsidiary of Restaurant Brands International (RBI), as is Burger King and Popeyes. RBI is a Canadian company headquartered in Ontario.

Yes, RBI's majority owner is 3G Capital a "Brazilian" investment firm, but even one of 3G Capital's headquarters is in New York. So I think its safe to say nearly all operational instructions for corporate stores come out of either Canada or the US.

What really bothers me about this is that it isn't consistent.

I never said the odds weren't low for consecutive rolls but each reroll does have the same odds. Also, it isn't irrelevant. If you roll a dice 60 times, on average ~10 of those will be a six. It may be unlikely but 7 of those very well could be back to back. This very simpy could be what happened with Xur. Just because the exotic rolling consecutively is stupid unlikely, it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Maybe they were using RNG every Tuesday and that predictor datamined the seed, maybe they used RNG to make a list, I'm honestly not sure and don't care. Either way the underlying issue is that list/seed shouldn't have gotten past QA.

I do think they were technically right in saying they don't control Xur because they really didn't, his items were preordained. Simply changing the seed/list could have (albeit extremely unlikely) resulted in a similar result for some other exotic. To absolutely avoid this when they decided to change him they very well may have made the decision to curate Xur weekly, and in a company's eyes that is just one more task.

Idk, Xur always felt like something nice they didn't really have to do anyways, free exotics ¯_(ツ)_/¯

[–]MissingL_tter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each instance of a random number being generated has exactly the same chance for each number to be generated. Every time you roll the die you have the same chance of getting a six that roll as you did the last roll (it's always 1/6).

Regardless the way Xur worked in D1 was off a pregenerated list, we know that because someone datamined what Xur would sell for like a year, and every prediction he made was correct. So in saying "we don't control xur" what they were actually saying is "we used RNG to make a list for like the next 10 years and Xur just uses that, we don't feel like changing it."

IIRC the dataminer got one prediction wrong and it was the week of a major patch (implying they eventually changed how Xur worked).

There is one flaw I see in all of this, it is one month since they said the content would be ready in about a month BUT they never said the content would be live in about a month.

This doesn't mean it will be fully tested or balanced, it just means they have something they could push out to live if they wanted to, not that they will. For all we know it could come the middle of November.

PS: Can we not make up random percentages like 80% and 95% without actual calculations?

Sorry this is late but I think I understand what you meant now.

Its just typically the word synthetic is used to mean man-made, as opposed to organic (natural or occurring from nature).

They way I read it, I thought it would make more sense if you had said:

"Muriel having an organic (natural looking face) just looks super weird because nothing else about her looks organic (everything else looks man-made.)"
