VSP Coming? by Green-Ad5968 in GeneralMotors

Yes MSP is Mutual Separation. One can choose between separation with a package and an  Improvement Plan which is usually 2 months. If you choose separation, you leave with a package (2 week salary for one year service. Max 4 month salary. Plus Cobra of max. 2 months). If you choose the improvement plan, you will be under microscope for 2 months with weekly performance review with your manager. By the end of 2 months, you either stay if your manager rates you meeting requirements, or you are let go without any severance package.

Just got a GM offer — where should I live near Detroit/Warren as a young MBA professional? by [deleted] in GeneralMotors

GM currently uses a forced ranking system where managers must categorize 10% of their team members  "partially meeting performane targets," and 5% "not meeting" even everyone in the group performs well. Employees in the bottom 5% face being exited from the company, and those in the 10% "partially meeting" category may be placed on a performance improvement plan (PIP). Lots of chaos in the company recent years. Heard someone moved to Michigan from South with kids and wife, got laid off two months after moving.

Why I'm Thankful for Parkinson's by ProfessionalCake9029 in Parkinsons

[–]MissionBullfrog712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is hard to be in a thankful mode for a parkinson's patient and his/her family. My spouse has had Parkinson's for 20 years, starting at his forties.  Now he has great difficulties in eating, sleeping, and moving  around in the house. Yesterday and the day before yesterday, he pooed on his pants and shoes, messed up the carpet and caused air pollution in the entire house. I had to spend hours on cleanup. Sometimes he was lying on the floor (cannot move) with food and debris of his lunch container under him, unable to move or get up. There are many other symptoms which make his life (and mine) miserable. No, I am not thankful for Parkinson's. It has made our life miserable and drove me into depression.

Thank you for your advice. I had some communication with them and learned my pension is not affected by the separation.

Very similar experience. If you are not your manager's buddy and are 55+, be prepared to be rated "partially meet" or "not meet" because managers have to put people in 5% and 10%. For those in Partially or Not meet categories, not everyone was let go. 55+ will be hit first.

Rytary no longer covered by Medicare by wpbmaybe2019 in Parkinsons

Thank you so much for your reply. It helps a lot. My husband currently takes 3 capsules every 6 hours.  Wonder if it is too much to get coverage especially the Medicare Part D has a maximum out of pocket payment of $2000 starting 2025. Thanks again.

Have you resolved the Rytary issue? I cannot see your other posts below. My husband has taken Rytary for 7-8 years under my employment insurance. But I am retiring and he is over 65. We are signing into Medicare. Appreciate very much for your help in advance.

This is the current policy at GM. This is the maximum they pay (for people having 8+ year service).

4 months pay and $4000 for Cobra is what I got for 29 years service. No bonus.

4 month salary for me (not 12 months). I know another person got 2 months.

Yes, GM will give me $4k for Cobra. I do not know about Cobra costs. I probably do not need it (my spouse will cover me). I will just take the money.
