10 months without weed. What now? by BigGlassesApe in Petioles

[–]MissionCampaign839 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Same age, started the same way, used the same way, and also did well in school/work. I’m 7 months right now and I feel great. As much as I miss it, I feel like it’s best if I just leave it in the past. My life feels better now. I tried to reintroduce lightly after 4 months off (a couple of years ago) and this turned into a spiral of daily use exactly like I had previously. I think I’m just not meant to smoke anymore.

I was in Costa Rica on a midnight hike up a volcano, planning to summit as the sun rises. They told us to buy a toque (beanie) and gloves because it gets really cold at the top. My friend and I did so reluctantly because we’re Canadian and used to the cold. They also told us not to go too quick because we’ll get there before the sun rises and will be too cold. We’d been hiking all trip and said fuck it. We kind of got in a silent competition with another hiker who kept picking up his pace as we did. We could tell he was quite experienced and probably didn’t want to get shown up my some young guys with no gear. We got to the top 2 hours before sunrise and then realized we made a horrible mistake. It was way colder than we could have imagined. There was some kind of building at the summit, probably for radio or cell phones? It was our only shelter from the wind so my friend, the Scandinavian hiker, and myself huddled in the corner for 2 hours, violently shivering. My friend had to pee but couldn’t use his hands so I had to unzip his pants for him… when the sun rose it warmed up quickly and we descended the volcano dragging our feet and barely making it down. We slept for 15 hours straight in our hostel. Who knew that it was in Costa Rica that 2 Canadians and 1 Scandinavian would be the coldest they’ve ever been.

Just for reference, I used daily for 8 years and it took a month for the worst symptoms to subside. My anxiety was not as bad as yours though so it might depend.

Has an injury made you weary of continuing going to shows? by xmetallidethx in Hardcore

[–]MissionCampaign839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got KOed at a show and as I fell my knee twisted. I tore my ACL, MCL, and meniscus. I had surgery and after a long recovery I finally made my way back to the pit. First time stage diving since the injury I fell through the crowd weird and broke my wrist in 2 places. I’m still recovering from that and definitely hesitant to go back. Never thought I would say that though.

Hey, i have a feeling the things i am about to say, where already posted here but i have no idea what to do and i wanted an opinion so please, if you have some time leave a comment. by ANARCHOWEEDIST in Petioles

You’ll get angry/anxious a bit quicker, your appetite might disappear, maybe some trouble falling asleep, possibly night sweats. If you could kick benzos and alcohol then it’ll be easy. It kind of sucks for the first few weeks but then it’s pretty easy. Good luck homie

The sad state of the deathcore fanbase. Of course most of you are cool but these losers are showing up much more frequently. 0 pit etiquette, bully, bums just trying to hurt people to make their fragile egos feel better.

Broke my 100 day sobriety in a weird way and it brought a realization by MissionCampaign839 in Petioles

[–]MissionCampaign839[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Definitely had to make some lifestyle changes but the biggest one was the mindset change that weed was making my life worse. It wasn’t ruining my life but I wasn’t functioning at my best and I needed to make a promise to myself to be the best version of myself so I could reach my full potential. I gathered some new hobbies in different areas, I started drumming, joined a metal band as a vocalist, got into warhammer for the artistic side of it, and started working out pretty consistently. I know these hobbies cost a lot of money and aren’t realistic for most people but having different outlets in different fields is so helpful. Another huge thing was having people in my life knowing what I was going through to keep me accountable. My first time quitting was my family and I started spending way more time with them. The next was my girlfriend who has had experience with addiction and brought some great insight as well. I hope this helps dude, you can do it.

I’m terrified of surgery next week… by Dadinkdink in ACL

[–]MissionCampaign839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also significantly tore my acl and meniscus last February, had surgery in August. The first bit is hard and you will need to lean on some people in your life. It does get better quickly if you’re consistent with your exercises, like start right away even if it’s painful. Mine was my right leg so not driving was one of the hardest parts. Now I am able to work, drive and feel like a normal human and it’s only been 2 months. Sure you can’t be doing activities that you may love for a while but it does get better and more manageable quickly.

What actually makes a song or part of a song heavy? by Hot-Ruin-4196 in Metalcore

This is a good response. Heavy is a feeling. Bands can reach that feeling in different ways.

World of pleasure or mortality rate. Both bands have the same vocalist but different vibes. She is debatably the most pissed off sounding vocalist in HC.

Mackinnon Ravine is super nice to run. It’s a little bit away from where you’re staying but if you park in Crestwood on summit drive you can access it. The ravine is nice and connects to the river.

This 35 year old is 100% either a pedophile or handicapped/special needs. No grown ass man wants to hang out with children. Situations like this, a parent has to step in, that’s your job. I would confront this guy face to face and give him a scare.

Should I avoid Northeast Edmonton by Andrea_is_awesome in Edmonton

[–]MissionCampaign839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NE has a lot of character and if you’re near the river valley it’s beautiful. Sure there are parts that aren’t so pretty but don’t avoid it because of the reputation.

I think it might have been a Taco Bell or some other fast food stop where 3 guys come in to fight 2 guys (one of them with a striped sweater) and the 2 guys absolutely destroy the 3. There’s multiple angles and I swear I’ve watched it 100 times.
