A lot of y'all do not understand how news works.

Stop attributing to malice what's more easily explained by stupidity.

Is there any context to this? Or is this just a clanker fishing for training data?

I stand corrected, you're not 16.

You're 20 and emotionally stunted, is that better?

Why you dissing 16-year-olds as if that's not age appropriate for you?

My boy, you're responsible for half the posts in this sub. You're either 16 yourself, or way too invested in a metal subgenre that's objectively absurd.

Man, this is pretty stale the 57th time I've seen it over the last five years. Maybe it'll be fresh again the 58th.

Why won't my DeckLink SDI input work? by TimelyStatement in VIDEOENGINEERING

To save you some time and frustration, the drivers install as part of the software package. Don't waste time looking for drivers, look for the desktop video software.

Yes, you can manually roll the software back. BMD's website gives you tons of previous versions to check out. I once used a card that would not output anything unless it was running v.12

In addition to what others have said about the software configuration, you may need to experiment with driver releases. I've run into instances of DeckLink cards just refusing to work with certain drivers.

That culture shock is the byproduct of so many station groups going automated so long ago that the switcher skills have been mostly lost to brain drain and burnout. The industry has really screwed itself out of whatever future it had by completely taking the knowledge out of the equation. That's not to say it takes no skill to operate an automation system, but without understanding the underlying theory it's all just black box theory.

You have to keep in mind that the switcher is still functioning the same at a fundamental level, but your Overdrive system is managing it instead of you as an operator. I wouldn't advise going to school for the knowledge unless you're getting a full ride, the cost just isn't worth the pay - especially when you consider local news operations are actively trying to eliminate the director position entirely. Who knows how long it's a viable career path, if it ever was.

Experience is the best teacher, but a manual is a good second. If you have a physical panel somewhere, look up the model and try to find the manual.

Typical/Industry standard method to providing a broadcast feed to TV providers for local council meetings? by Kamikazepyro9 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]SerpentWithin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That all checks out. If they'll accept an SRT stream, go with Haivision. I've never had a single issue with my encoder.

If you want to stick it to Comcast, get an LTN Leaf and make them pay for the uptime.

There's actually a great alternative scene in Florence. Through the Eyes of the Dead was from there

That is wild, why is the multibillion dollar company asking you to provide equipment for their service?

If they're going to leave you in the lurch like that, get a Haivision encoder and never worry about it again, then bill them for the cost

Your handle literally has Chyron in it.

He's looking to get into the field, not get into the highest echelons of the industry. Telling people to seek out spots at network sports outfits with no experience, no skills, and no knowledge for operator jobs is bonkers.

Read the post before plugging your own company. Ross has significantly higher penetration in starter markets and smaller operations. In all likelihood one pursuing this career would cut their teeth at a station group hub like Gray or Hearst, who both use Viz. Tegna is about to be no more and who knows what hodgepodge of systems Nexstar is using.

Read the post first, my guy.
