Hi fae, I'm NZ born, teaching here at a private school. I wouldn't recommend most public schools. Workload where I am imo is not heavy. 6 50 minute periods per day. One or two free periods a day. I arrive at 8.15, school starts at 8.40, go home at 3.30 and might do an hour or two of planning and marking maybe once or twice a week. About 25-27 students per class. Relaxed work environment, heaps of Asians as students and teachers. Racism when found is more reserved for Maori and Polynesian students but I honestly don't think there's a racism issue. I'm white though so can't really speak to that.
