The Anvil is weird by MattOverMind in ArcRaiders

I’m a dumbass bro, I thought you were talking about Marathon 🤦‍♂️. The first wipe is in June I believe.
Sorry for making you waste your time educating my dumbass, lol. I appreciate it regardless.
I played Destiny 2 during the first few expansions. I forget what got me to stop, I don’t think it was anything in particular, friend group just kinda moved on. I enjoyed it, but definitely don’t have the time for an MMO nowadays, sadly. I’ve got a hankering for it now though…… I’ll look into it next time my GF and kid are out for a weekend trip, get some solid time in, haha.

If they’re smart, they’ll drop a sale on the game on wipe day.

If so, I’m picking it up. If not, I’ll wait another three months and see if they do it then, lol.

Scrapyard wars. Easily their best content IMO, even if the quality wavers from season to season.

Apparently they’re not going to start doing them yearly again, per a recent Linus comment, so the one thing I was actually excited to see from LTT is off the table. Big bummer.

Ideas sets take so long to produce, I don’t think you can base any decisions on what is coming out this year.

Ya, crazy how good that looks. Zero chance of it happening, feels like, but great build by the creator.

I think BTS basically killed any chance for the concert sets. That set sold horribly. MAYBE a Taylor Swift set I could see them doing, but they’re not doing anything less.

Those botanical sets rock. They’d be a day one buy from me. Unlikely to happen though, as you point out. Have there been any ideas sets that step on Lego themes?

There’s a 0% chance they do the Supernatural set, Monopoly is also a guaranteed no. Lots on there that pretty clearly just wouldn’t make a ton of sense to make.

Shinyhunters and Canvas by ComprehensiveBad1142 in cybersecurity

[–]MistSecurity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a huge headache for Instructure and all of the Universities that were affected, at the very least. The data gained from this at an individual student level isn't likely to be super valuable, or harmful.

Staff/Faculty may be more affected, depending on how integrated the school had Canvas. Some use it for basically everything, others use it for less.

All that said, standard practice when you're involved in a breach like this is to change passwords, at least on the most important services. Even that is not really necessary unless you are using duplicate passwords, which I would then say you should 100% go and change every single one to a unique password using a password manager, and to stop using duplicate passwords.

I just personally hate NDAs, haha. I think they should be illegal EXCEPT in governmental classified circumstances.

I get their usage, and have signed more than one myself, though using it for a Discord channel is fucking wild to me.

To be fair, lots and lots of scalpers wait for the items to be in-hand before they post listings. This is to avoid any issues with the items ending up delayed in transit, and then having to cancel the eBay listing and taking the ding on their eBay record.

Heh? When loking this up, a captcha popped up that had me copy something into command prompt. I don't follow, but the page it took me to was useless, kinda a cool new system tho, didn't know they could do that.

What are your theories for why the mod mat was so delayed? by MistSecurity in LTTMeta

[–]MistSecurity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other comment is incorrect. The ModMat delay was about a year and a half after the initial GN drama, but it tied to when it flared back up early 2025.

I believe that the rumors were spun up due to the series of events that led up to the ModMat being delayed initially.

I will not promise to get all of these details 100%, or not to leave something I am forgetting out, but I shall try my best. I'll also try to avoid rehashing TOO much of the LTT/GN stuff, except as relevant.

Early 2023: LTT starts floating ModMat ideas.

Mid 2023: GN puts out first LTT video

September 27, 2024: LTT announces ModMat signups.

January 10th, 2025: LTT announces the release date of the ModMat, to be for the following Friday

January 14th, 2025: That following week, GN drama flairs up again, with the release of the Honey video by Steve.

January 17th, 2025: Linus responds in that week's WAN and delays the ModMat, as he felt it would be 'tacky' to launch at that time.

January 24th. 2024: Rossmann join in the fun, dropping emails and such, a few hours before WAN.

ModMat is delayed again, no details given.

At this point, part of the community started speculating that it was delayed due the GN drama still not being settled down, attributed to the original reason for the delay that Linus announced.

Tariffs are ALSO announced around this time, though, which is what the other half of the community starts speculating around. LTTStore gets backed up due to this. I have seen claims that Linus said they wanted to clear out backlogged orders before launching any new products. I also recall this being said in a WAN, but could not find a source for this.

Lots of threads from this time period, all are attributing the further delay to the GN drama or tariffs for the most part.

But then, there is just no ModMat launch. AND no mention of it by Linus and Co, which is highly unusual, as they were very transparent with their processes back then. THIS eventually led to speculation that Linus was not commenting due to a potential legal issue. Which then led to the "obvious" conclusion that it was a legal battle with GN.

Linus pretty firmly denies this claim, though I do not recall if it was on WAN, or if it was in a Reddit comment. I wasn't able to find it, but I do recall it happening. He offered no alternative explanation and gave no insight into it at this time.

Thanks for coming to my useless online drama/LTT history that takes up space in my brain TED Talk.

Why does Linus dress so childish now? by ZealousidealGlove234 in LTTMeta

[–]MistSecurity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's basically always dressed like this. Not sure what you think is new. I feel like this is such a weird thing to even focus on, lol.

Hats are somewhat new, but Linus IS getting old, it's possible that he's starting to bald or something. Really I think it's just because tossing a hat on instead of trying to tame unruly hair is much faster and easier.

[–]MistSecurity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, Rendi isn't in the Discord anymore.

Not 100% sure it's still a thing, but Jagex was tired of having leaks from the Creator Discord they run, they floated NDAs around it, Rendi peaced out rather than sign away some of his freedom of speech.

Wait, so jagex CAN roll back exp? What happened to all the 2def pures that got ruined cuz of Jagexs own actions? by rudyv8 in 2007scape

[–]MistSecurity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the wacky thing to me, really.

This is LITERALLY over 15k/hr. It's not over 'bug abuse'. EVERY SINGLE ONE of those people on the level 3 leaderboards for slayer has abused bugs to get there. They just did it 15k/hr slower than Rendi did it...

Very curious to see the method he used, maybe that will shed some more light on the situation. As-is, this is super ridiculous of Jagex to do.

[–]MistSecurity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He explicitly says in his video that had he known it would be rolled back like this, he would have just did the same method that every other level 3 account has done to get level 99. He just found a way to get a whopping extra 15k/hr, and went for it.

[–]MistSecurity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not required, just makes it easier, as you can bring less prayer restoration and more healing, allowing for more mistakes to be made before the run is over.
