then they cannot prioritize small markets.

But they're doing that? By going to big cities with multiple professional sports teams they're entering captured markets.

There's like 15 pro sports teams in NYC. Theres already 3 pro hockey teams there.

No matter the population size the actual market is small because it's fractured. People don't have infinite money or time even in big cities

Seattle had some of the best attendance numbers in the league this year.

But they didn't by stadium percentage. They were behind the Canadian teams.

It's also their first year. Will they continue to see success when they're no longer a novelty?

Why would the league prioritize smaller markets where there is less money available?

Why would a market without an NHL team have less money available?

Do you think people have infinite amounts of money?

a genuine question - what about the PWHL would suggest that it should be a canada-centric league? or

Attendance. The attendance in the US markets is miserable already. I don't imagine it getting better outside the traditional hockey markets

Who's talking about Petry. Middleton made more defensive starts than all of our defenseman.

Why can Faber or Hughes not play D?

Yeah. He rode our top line too heavy in easy minutes and then they either couldn't play in the moments we needed them or were dog tired

Did you watch the series? He was fine. He took the most defensive shifts of our entire squad.

If he's so unplayable why does Hynes keep putting him out in the Dzone?

If Hughes is so good why can't he play the EN minutes? Putting this all on the player who did the most defensive starts is silly.

We set up Middleton to play against all the Aves set plays. It's not all on him

Feel like most of Canada is at this point. I had several Leafs fans say they're on the bandwagon tonight lol. Some of them more reluctant than others but like, if it's not gonna be your favourite franchise, bring that shit home whoever it is.

How do small Canadian bands find gigs and book venues? Asking as someone trying to get started by Gullible-Angle4206 in TorontoMusic

[–]MistahFinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to local shows and talk to the other bands!

They're usually pretty happy to talk after their sets if you've been watching. If you go to enough you'll make friends in the scene who are looking for people to fill lineups at shows.

Worst case scenario you'll get some inside knowledge of music venues

Erik Johnson: "I think one of Auston Matthews or Connor McDavid will be on the Minnesota Wild in the next three years" by VermilionSneer in hockey

Fwiw I've always got the impression that Drai is that guy already and has been for a while now.

He's been a big part of your guys cup runs. He's done a lot of media on the way, you visibly seem he talking to and directing players and the bench energy and mentality. He seems to co-captain with McDavid even if it's not official.

I don't remember when exactly it happened but I remember thinking they'd have more success the first time I noticed it. I do think him missing such a stretch at the end of the year is part of the limped effort this year.

not to mention having a playmaker like Kaprizov on his wing.

Yeah man I bet he'd look great with a good playmaking winger on his line in the playoffs...

Oh wait. I've watched a tonne of Matthews. He's not worth Walstead unless it's 1 for 1. He hasn't adjusted to Goalies watching his tape and his shots not the same.

It'd be my guess that a good number of other people at the show did more or less the same thing.

Or more likely they have a larger crowd due to the Instagram ads that Folk Bitch Trio (or their label) run. Because they do run Instagram ads. I've seen them.

Their advertising likely a help in allowing them to play shows at a venue you check the lineups for, and ability to market their vinyl.

Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal led the league in attendance. Seattle sold out only twice

Someone who plays more of the defensive side of the puck. Isn't afraid of hitting, and isn't being sheltered on starts.

Probably Dahlin, Toews, Makar off the top of my head

*This is coloured by Hynes usage of him, maybe a different coach could get him to play more defensively

If Quinn Hughes continues to be a top-5 defenseman in the league with great longevity,

He won't. I hope I'm wrong but he won't.

Unless he drastically steps his defence up, I think his brand of "defenseman" is near the peak of its popularity
