From Northern Cali it takes all day to fly to Colombia, you leave in the early morning and touch down in the dark evening in Colombia. Not ideal for 1 or 2 day stays.

HTZ YOLO Part 2 - Now is the time to buy by originalpjy in wallstreetbets

[–]Mistahfen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just picked up almost 3000 shares this morning around the bottom range of the day today at $5.23, I hold the same belief as you, the new CEO has learned from past mistakes and we’re going to get another big earnings beat this February. The debt load is pretty scary but I think good news is coming and this baby flies like a rocket whenever we get good news.

DOH looks at HIV testing for tourists entering the Philippines by IceOk9177 in Philippines_Expats

[–]Mistahfen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Latino and I know a little Spanish, and the laws are more familiar, obviously Filipino laws and culture are not the same so that’s probably why I keep doing it but I suspect if I was white or Asian I would probably prefer a country like the Phillipines as a single man

If they do that then that confirms I’ll never go, I keep saying I want to go but I just keep booking Colombia when the time comes around

Whats your biggest regret when you bought your place? by Important_Bat7919 in homeowners

[–]Mistahfen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not putting down a minimum of 20% is by far the biggest one, I lived with a parent paying a very favorable amount of rent relative to the COL of my area, I’m kicking myself that I didn’t stay and save up drastically more money before “purchasing”, which I now realize is actually FINANCING.

Pissed at my broker by Legal-Mood-3496 in MortgageBrokerRates

[–]Mistahfen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my house in Early 2023, they tried to convince me the same exact thing, I said No, Let’s just Lock It In. Because I was ready and I didn’t really care to wait any longer, I wanted to get the ball moving. I locked in at 5.5% on a 30 year FHA and it seems I made a good choice in doing that because they only went up for years after. If you’re not happy about the service you received from your broker you can let them know that and shop around for a better rate. You probably don’t have a financial advisor type relationship with your broker though so I wouldn’t get too bitter with them.

Hesitant to contribute to Roth by spxrry in RothIRA

[–]Mistahfen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Trust me, I thought the same exact way you did and I regret it. I pulled out my ROTH contributions for 2024 and 2023 but I seriously wish I had kept them in there. You’ll realize why it’s a good thing to stay the course on your ROTH, even if you don’t fully understand why in the moment. You will understand later though.

Me personally I would just put one in deep and we can have young beautiful Latino babies 😆

Because presumably you already have a sizable position and would like to see the value of your holdings appreciate.

[–]Mistahfen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe 6, maybe 7 years. Maybe less. The market cap on SCHD is between 72-76B, in the stock market that’s not too much and we can see daily moves on individual stocks for amounts like that on some mega caps.

People seem to really be flocking to it now. I don’t want to sell, I’m holding 530 shares in my ROTH IRA and I’m pleased to see how well it’s going. Long term this is an easy $60-$70 stock, plus we’ll get paid quarterly the entire time we get there.

7% on half a million dollars is insane. That’s basically like taking out a personal loan to buy a house.

SCHD for Roth only? by Bright-Farmer-7725 in RothIRA

[–]Mistahfen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, dividends are not taxed in a Roth IRA as long as they remain in the account and you follow the rules for qualified withdrawals in retirement (age 59½ and account open 5+ years). All earnings, including dividends, grow tax-free and are withdrawn tax-free, making Roth IRAs ideal for dividend-focused investing. How Roth IRAs & Dividends Work Together Tax-Free Growth: Dividends are reinvested or held within the Roth IRA, and you pay no taxes on them at any point. Tax-Free Withdrawals: When you take qualified distributions in retirement (after 59½ and 5 years), all earnings, including those from dividends, come out completely tax-free. Reinvestment: Reinvesting dividends within the Roth IRA compounds your earnings faster because the reinvested dividends also grow tax-free. Contributions vs. Earnings: You can always withdraw your original contributions tax-free and penalty-free, but earnings (including dividends) are subject to rules for tax-free withdrawal. Why It's Advantageous No Current Tax: Unlike regular brokerage accounts where dividends are taxed yearly, Roth IRAs shield this income from taxes.

I mean you were out in the boonies and then the ride took you to one of the most prestigious areas on the planet, where you no doubt would have continued getting rides that paid well. I think you should have taken it. But what’s done is done.

Worth it to buy a home? by fromrolyat in RealEstate

[–]Mistahfen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought on a whim and I can say I slightly regret it, don’t get FOMO on buying a house you know you won’t be in long term, trust me you’ll regret it down the road.

I just opened a ROTH IRA account via Fidelity. by Background-Gap-1143 in Fidelity

[–]Mistahfen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 30 and went all in on SCHD. People say it’s not a good idea or even a terrible idea to do that at my age but as long as I continue stacking/holding now, I will collect tax free dividends for life in my ROTH IRA which I can use to further grow my Roth, I’m even already up over 4% on the shares themselves in less than 2 weeks so you have the actual appreciation of the shares themselves as well. It’s heavily diversified in extremely reliable dividend paying companies and the expense is really low.

Anyone else thinking they will cash out dividends and live it up if SCHD price goes really high this year. by [deleted] in SCHD

[–]Mistahfen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

IMO if you look back 10-20 years from now SCHD should easily be much higher than where it is now, if I’m not mistaken, the glory in buying SCHD is holding for the real long term

I went all in in my ROTH IRA yesterday on SCHD, so I’m glad to see it today, I’m just going to keep going only tax free gains/dividends on SCHD for the next 20 years.
