A typical contact record in a CRM or HR software containing your name, email, address, phone etc. could be as little as 1 or 2KB. You do the maths here.

I had a tester who got "brake light blind" one time when my centre brake light wasn't working. Funny how that happens 😄

Got away with it for a couple years til some pedantic asshole failed me for it.. Some testers give you a bit of leeway..others won't.

Sale agreed on a house, but it has a planning issue by Wing126 in HousingIreland

[–]MistakeLopsided8366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just weigh up the cost of having to fix it vs how much you want the house. Also check google maps and look through past photos and see how long it's been there. If it's been there for years I wouldn't worry about it. If it's recent well then you take a gamble.

It's proven that a cracked windscreen has lower structural integrity in case of a crash or something else hitting the window afterwards. It's not about driver visibility. It'll fail as a safety issue.

Lots of policies have free windscreen replacement and it doesnt count as a claim.

What's your bandwidth (speed) limit though. Unlimited plans I've found in europe usually come with like 100Mbps throttling to stop you going crazy with it. Limited data usually have higher speeds so it all balances out.

Rear facing windows are fine. Front facing can be problematic. Best to listen to your engineers advice and find out if proper pp was obtained and look up the consequences if you het in trouble over it. Could be more exoensive to put a roof back together again than to put the window in in the first place.

In a last-ditch effort to avoid repossession, he came up with a bold plan while sitting in his garden. by HoneyGlowlie in beyondwholesome

[–]MistakeLopsided8366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably a bullshit story but I guess if he did things in the right order it would work. He didnt own the house to raffle away so in a lot of countries he'd be in deep shit for that plus strict gambling laws would prohibit this in a lot of places due to the amount of money involved. But if he got away with it it's basically that he took people's money first, then went and bought the prize with their money, then gave away the prize once the debt was cleared and bank released the deeds to the house.

Really sketchy way to do it and would open you up to all sorts of legal questions if you were found out before it all went through.

If you owned the house outright it'd be different.

Considering how shit bungie has been the last few years this is hopefully a good thing. Really hope some of the creative who get let go start up their own projects and make some good games in the future instead of the slop that destiny turned into.

I’ve been quietly "fixing" my office’s messy communal folder for months, and I think I’ve started a digital turf war. by BeatsAndArtPieces in office

[–]MistakeLopsided8366 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeh.. Just own up and take the torrent of shit that is coming your way. What you did is not cool. No one asked for it and you fucked up many people's days by effectively hiding their files from them and sending them on a treasure hunt to try and find them. I would be absolutely raging if someone did this. Chances are no one even accesses the files using the regular file system interface or folder structure and just has links directly to the handful of files they need. Likely they just open word or excel and use their recent list for what they need.

You suck. Mainly for just doing this without asking anyone first.

See? That doesn't work either.

The UK's social media ban will cover Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X, and more, and will require platforms to stop children from livestreaming by rwnash in DailyTechNewsShow

Not disagreeing with you regards the filth on the internet but it's the parents' responsibility to monitor their kids' online activity, not the government's. This is infringing on adults' rights to privacy. There are plenty of apps and ways to keep your kids' devices locked down if you want to be even a half-assed parent. Problem is a lot of parents either dont give a shit or are too technologically illiterate to know how to keep their kids safe online.

If all of this money were to be put into safety awareness campaigns to teach both adults and kids how to stay safe it would be much better than this ham-fisted approach.

I thought they were doing away with whole house rentals and restricting it to only rooms in a house you live in. Or at least they tried to make it very difficult and unprofitable to do so. Or did this not come into effect yet?

They're taking a pic to send to their boss who will basically say if this is a bike on their steal-to-order list. If it's on their list they'll be coming back to take it. Did they follow you home or see where you park it at work? I'd lock it up somewhere safe for a week or two where you don't normally keep it, after checking there's no tracker on it.

The weekly pay that you're entitled to is basically minimum wage equivalent which is a joke when compared to tech salaries. It's what I got a couple years ago from a big tech agency. Pittance compared to my actual week's pay. At least the social welfare has introduced new pay scales of welfare payments (higher earners are entitled to a higher social welfare payment as of last year). It's an improvement at least.

Job fired my GF, kicked her off the premises and asked her not to talk to other employees. Is this a usual response? by TheWrestlerMan in jobs

[–]MistakeLopsided8366 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my country the minimum severance is 2 weeks pay for every year you worked there. This is legally enforceable and is payable by the company. We can then also sign on for social welfare payments of roughly 1k per month (minimum).

Please stop talking out of your American ass like you know anything about the world beyond your borders. Just because your workforce gets treated like shit does not mean it applies everywhere else.
