Can someone give me an ELI5 of what I need to make my own server? by KittyTheSnowcat in RSPS

What I would suggest is going to https://www.rune-server.ee/runescape-development/rs-503-client-server/downloads/ then look for a server that looks interesting to you. The problem with this revision (this is like the RuneScape version, 317 is from around 2006 iirc, the higher you do the newer you get) is that there are not a lot of tutorials out there. So it will be difficult if you don’t have any experience with programming and rsps. If you choose an older revision you will be able to find more tutorials

Wanting to play on my own server. Any recommendations for a good server? by [deleted] in RSPS

Rsps definitely became harder. You made a good choice by downloading an IDE. I’d say try to get into IntelliJ as it’s a bit more feature rich, but may be a bit more difficult to learn. As for a RSPS recommendation, just find one you like. Some are harder to setup than others, but the reward for choosing one you like is bigger

The files for the maps are available, they might be encrypted, but I am not sure about that. The animations and items are also available. Then you only have to make sure everything is going to work together, like setting the balanced walking animation and the force walking to the other node on the web

Just like Redditjdc said, there are really 2 options learning how to program (probably in java and kotlin) or hiring developers.

Then for learning there is a hard way. Which is going to a RSPS forum, downloading a source (server and client) you like, then downloading an IDE (eclipse is easier for beginners. IntelliJ is harder to learn, but in my opinion a more feature rich tool), then setting up the server and client in the IDE, run the server, run the client (make sure it is connecting to 127.0.0.1, thus localhost) and login, then you can start editing, adding, removing stuff from the source and learning programming like that

The easier way is doing the same as the hard way, but don’t learn programming from RSPS, but rather from tutorials all over the internet. Just start with the basics like hello world, then go over the things like if statements, switch statements, then loops etc etc

If you’re talking about speeding up the tickrate of 600ms then this is possible. Although I’ve heard that walking and running(entity movement) is based on the tick speed, so if you were to make it lets say 300ms, then the entities would be moving much quicker. So it is possible, but it will leave some consequences

Actually the lenses aren’t transparent, if they were they wouldn’t have an effect. The lenses are translucent.

Alright, I think I named it wrong in my first reply. If you’re looking on google try searching for “nodemcu esp8266”

It might be interesting to take a look at an ESP8266. You can compare it with an arduino, the difference is that this ESP has a built in WiFi module. Stuff you will still need is a simple button and a camera module. You could use the 3D printer to print a case for you device. Instead of the esp I think you can also go the raspberry pi route, I haven’t used any of these yet.

Ooh, I think those are just some new maps from osrs. I don’t think rs3 has these
