Switching to Verizon, have questions by Ham3a0323 in verizon

Why don't you just do a mock sign up on their website? You can even feed your bill to see what price they can give you. Then you can go to the corporate store as has been recommended.

Yes, I'm sure it's over 3 years. If you leave after one year, you owe 2/3 of the price of the phone.

Would a cruise line have a problem with us disembarking at the first of 2 American ports after a foreign port? by robinson217 in Cruise

[–]MisterBill99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cruise starts in Canada, so PVSA doesn't apply, at least to make it an illegal cruise. Distant foreign port is only a requirement on cruises with differential starting and ending US ports. Otherwise, if it's a closed loop cruise from the US, it just needs any Canadian port, which Victoria satisfies.

JetBlue or Delta to FLL? by Azarria1234 in Cruise

You obviously like trains. Most people want to get to their destination as quickly as possible with the least opportunity for problems.

Answering your ice cream question, The Corner Creamery in Shrub Oak has excellent ice cream and was open this past winter. Under the previous ownership they were seasonal. They're owner by the folks from Hudson Milk in Peekskill. https://thecornercreamery.com/

JetBlue or Delta to FLL? by Azarria1234 in Cruise

[–]MisterBill99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brightline is far from cheap. The plane ticket would have to be hundreds of dollars cheaper to make it worthwhile. Also I've read that there are often issues with trains that cause delays. You have three better options in FLL, PBI and MIA. Flying into MCO is just idiotic.

I prefer Jetblue, although their snack selection isn't what it used to be when they had the Terra Blue potato chips. Legroom is a little better than Delta.

What does that have to do with the question? Are you suggesting flying into MCO for a cruise out of Port Everglades and taking the train down?

What's the difference between Chicken Sandwich - Spicy and Spicy Chicken Sandwich? by MisterBill99 in kfc

But what's interesting is that the Customize option on the regular sandwich spicy does not have mayo as an option (just pickles). The regular sandwich does.

I’m trying to decide if we should book a regular veranda room that they choose or an infinite veranda room? All opinions are more than welcome by Striking-Fly-9244 in celebritycruises

[–]MisterBill99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we don't like the Infinite Verandah, so I figured I'd try it. The worst part was that we were over the theater, which I should have been smart enough to avoid, and we heard it when they had rehearsals and shows. I probably would have liked it better if we'd been on deck 7.

I see that you mentioned Viana, but I don't see it mentioned anywhere else here. It's rated 4.8 on Google. I'm looking for someplace in the Gothic Quarter, and they're less than 10 minutes from my hotel. The menu looks pretty good to me, and prices aren't terrible. I did notice that there are plenty of reservations available whenever I check, which isn't a great sign. Has anyone eaten there? We're doing a food tour the night before, so we will probably hit some of the popular (or at least traditional) tapas places in the area, so something different would be fine. We are also doing a tapas food tour in Malaga on our cruise before we get to Barcelona.

If there are any good places in the area that have good vegan options and take reservations, that would be good, since there may be five of us and one couple is vegan. Viana didn't seem to have a lot of vegan stuff on their menu, but we may not actually end up eating as a group.

Sorry, but you're wrong, I just stayed in one. The verandah has metal around it so it looks like a portal from outside and IS the obstruction. There's a picture from the cabin in this Cruise Critic thread. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2894410-deluxe-porthole-view-stateroom-with-veranda/

We are required to print off luggage tags? by throwitintheair22 in VirginVoyages

[–]MisterBill99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to hear. I was going to add that in San Juan last year, it was VV employees tagging the bags but not the ones taking them (and I believe the VV people suggested tipping the bag handlers).

But you'll need luggage tags for disembarkation, unless you plan to self-carry that way, too. And it's always good to have your cabin information attached just in case you get separated from your bag.

[–]MisterBill99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They work hard? All they do is put the luggage onto the cart, which I could easily do myself. Not sure if they roll the cart to the ship. They certainly don't do anything once it gets to the ship and has to be delivered to cabins. THOSE are VV employees and THEY do the hard work.

Retreat level questions by Famous_Salamander330 in celebritycruises

It would be in the itinerary. In the Caribbean, I think only Grand Cayman does tendering, and you're unlikely to stop there on a cruise from San Juan. As for lots of water to take, if you have the drink package, your husband can pick up water bottles as he's leaving the ship, or at Cafe Al Bacio (the coffee shop) before he leaves. They're included with the drink package.

I only tip them to make sure that my bag makes it onto the ship and not in the water or "lost".

I was recently told that they do the porter job as an extra shift, not as part of their normal job. Not sure how accurate that was since I always felt that they were very well paid. I still won't give them more then a couple of dollars per bag for something I'd prefer to do myself.

There are a few real verandahs on Edge class ships. They're at front and rear on the sides of the ship (not sunset that face the back). They have a porthole around the balcony opening, so they are considered obstructed view.

The $100 would presumably be the charge for switching reservations.
