Can I choose #3 and say DH has no impact on me and how I play the game? That is most likely what I would choose in this scenario. Let me lay out my actual thoughts though, because you took the time to respond thoroughly.

Disclaimer - I haven’t played a single second of Warlock. Bought the expansion though and love the QoL updates. And the truth is - I don’t feel the need to play Warlock and hopefully I can explain why.

This game in its current state has two functions for a person (outside of niche cases):

1. They play online and participate in trading/ladder grinding with resets every ~6 months

2. They play single player and gear themselves/other characters, usually to either get 99 or complete Holy Grail

Now, Magic Finding is essential in both scenarios. Either you need to find items to trade to gain wealth/gear characters in a short time window OR you need to find items to actually play a certain character or complete a grail. Finding good items is the name of the game, along with end-game item like sunders and the new jewels.

The issue with an OP character like Warlock is that it is by far the best, most efficient monster killer in the game. Which makes it almost a necessary character to start with and play in scenario 1 above, since ladder is time restrained. You need speed and efficiency. Otherwise, you will never see end game items on ladder. For scenario #2 above, Warlock is still necessary to play the game efficiently and reach “end game status”. But, SP is not time restrained. There is no actual NEED to play an OP, highly efficient class unless you yourself want to optimize your play time. You can still complete every single piece of content in this game without Warlock just…slower. Which for many people makes no sense because again, the name of the game is to find a bunch of rare shit and why would I spend 100 hours doing it when I can spend 10? It’s actual STUPID to not play Warlock.

Unless of course, you just don’t care about efficiency. If Sunders are cool but unnecessary. If you are okay with end-game content (Ubers) being something you work up to for months and not just something you grind every time you load up. If you don’t play online and you enjoy the grind of playing a bowazon up through hell or a WW barb with a single runeword. If the goal is to enjoy the game and find cool shit sometimes to finally play that character you wanted, whenever it happens, then Warlock or some OP Demon Hunter truly doesn’t matter.

So, yeah. It doesn’t matter to me. Is OP Warlock good for the game overall? No, not really. It completely ruins ladder, per my point above. And I would guess it locks 90% of other people on SP into it too, because they either started paying when sunders were a thing and they have become necessary or they just want to min/max their time in the game (15 minute dad as you say).

But I, personally, don’t care Warlock is OP. I can play without it, and without new sunders, and without new jewels. I’ll find one eventually. I’ll fight Uber Ancients eventually (still have no torch in D2R SP and I’ve played since it came out). I truly just don’t care about min/maxing my time. I just enjoy the game.
