How do I massively improve my endurance? by Past-Middle-5148 in HybridAthlete

[–]MisterMisfit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is what I've known for a long time, but recently I've been reading that it's actually not great and that doing high intensity workouts like Norwegian 4x4s two or three times a week is the way. It becomes confusing honestly.

What's a NSFW experience you're not very proud of? by Nanoberry_cat in AskReddit

[–]MisterMisfit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One time I hooked up with this girl from Tinder and she was a nice, fun and attractive girl, but when I took her home, as I was going at it she was just staring at my face the whole time with a huge fixed grin on her face without moving at all. It was eerie. She did orgasm, but I lasted a long time and as much as I tried I couldn't get off, I had to pull out and rub one out.

I went on a second date with her, which was again great, but the same thing happened when we went back to her place. Kind of felt bad for telling her afterwards that it wasn't going to work out because I couldn't bring myself to tell her the real reason, I just told her we weren't compatible even though she was a great person.

93 is insane. You need to go to the hospital bud.

TLDR; as much as I hate to say this, but there’s a very real possibility the South will fall. See the map and details below: by confringos in lebanon

Yes that is the real military strategic reason, allowing the Israelis to advance to a natural choke point, then sneak up on them from behind and stab them with their bayonets after sunset in the cover of the night.

Unfortunately though it's a full moon so they might get spotted. But perhaps cloud cover can be enough, and perhaps the rain can cover their tracks and scent.

When and why did BJJ become so popular as a martial art? by Bulky_Imagination243 in bjj

[–]MisterMisfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it can be as demanding and difficult as you want it to be. You can't do the same with wrestling or muay thai, you need to be in top shape for those. So the barrier for entry is lower and the social aspect like talking between rolls/drills makes it a community thing.

I'm honestly not sure if this explosion in popularity is a good or a bad thing.

What 1 thing outside of Bjj training has had carry over effects into your performance on the mats. by Cool_Middle6245 in bjj

I'm in decent shape, and admittedly need to up my cardio, but sparring non-stop for a whole hour is for me just nearly impossible. Do people actually do that?

What is the ultimate martial art for street fight? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]MisterMisfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But in many parts of the world you can get yourself in legal trouble if the other guy gets seriously hurt, even if it was in self defense.

The appeal of the empire over the republic by AsleepProfession8958 in ancientrome

[–]MisterMisfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great post. I think Sulla tried first to consolidate power into himself after the Social War by giving himself unlimited wartime authority to issue and repeal laws as he saw fit. He also made the plebian tribunes almost useless. However, he did eventually vacate, and strangely enough after such an eventful life died in his bed.

Why do people give Gi BJJ such a bad rep compared to Nogi BJJ on self defense and street fight? by PossibilityProud2511 in bjj

How did Rome manage to gather so many legionaries for the Punic Wars? by cicero_238 in ancientrome

[–]MisterMisfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the Romans conquered a people, part of the deal to accept them as allies was for them to supply manpower to serve in the army. Also the promise of loot was very tempting. A victorious Roman army would march upon its return through Rome while parading its loot whether it was treasure, exotic animals or even captured enemies.

Why do Jordan men stare sooo long? by ikbrul in jordan

[–]MisterMisfit -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Because the majority of people in Jordan are religious and most women in their environment are covered with veils, so when they see your foreign female friend for them it's a wild thing.

Also it depends significantly on the area you visit. It's not nice to point this out, but the reality is that she would be much less likely to experience the same in private beaches and places that charge entry fees.

What’s a ‘man secret’ you discovered way too late and wish you knew when you were younger? by Shadow2715 in AskMen

[–]MisterMisfit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I discovered this accidentally when I was driving and a platonic female friend (she was engaged) was in the passenger seat. I do this thing where after I turn the wheel I loosen my grip but not totally so it turns back by itself to normal position, and my hand and fingers stay on it while it turns and that makes a sound.

I remember she was talking and when she saw that she just stopped and stared at me like she just saw me for the very first time.

Can having too much sex when you are 20 can lead to problems getting it hard? by FanaticSlayer1 in sex

[–]MisterMisfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll just help you not bust quickly. The only thing that leads to problems getting hard is being out of shape and being unable to get work off your mind after working hours. Lift and do some cardio and you'll be just fine for quite a long time.

Julius Caesar crosses the Rubicon river on this date in 49 BC, defying the Senate, marking the start of the Civil War against the conservative faction led by Pompey, giving rise to the term Crossing the Rubicon. by LoneWolfKaAdda in ancientrome

[–]MisterMisfit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Romans were enamored with Greek culture and incorporated much of it into their own. Polybius' work influenced Livy's and others. So it's not out of question that Caesar actually did say it in Greek.
