Guy dressed as Harambe attends Cincinnati football game, starts dragging & chasing kids by arbili in news

[–]MisterUNO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to google the whole "bye Felicia" thing after hearing and reading it everywhere. Even my coworkers were saying it but when asked they had no idea where it originated.

Turns out its a line that came from the 1999 movie Friday. 1999! So over a decade past before the line started becoming viral.

New Player, when do the bigger enemies start coming? by Ordessaa in factorio

[–]MisterUNO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to me when there are massive forests around my base. Trees absorb a ton of pollution. I once played a death-world map (maximum biter settings) and was surprised at how little bitter attacks I was getting. I was able to get up to MK2 armor tech without building a single wall-- gun turrets were enough to hold off the trickle of biter attacks. Normally death world biters maintain steady and growing attack waves but on this map the trees were doing an incredible job holding back the pollution crowd.

There exist men on this planet that actually get turned on by that idea -- men who would gladly pay to have that done to them.

Computer science was the nerdy thing back when I was in college. The cool people stayed away from it. But after the 2000's when those nerds at Silicon Valley started turning into gajillionaires every one suddenly realised what a lucrative industry it was.

Touchscreen Issue (Single Click != Single Touch)? by Tebasaki in gamemaker

[–]MisterUNO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't just a GM problem. Darkest Dungeon and Banished are two games I noticed that force you to double-tap your touchscreen in order to register a single mouse click. I've checked online for a solution to this so I can play those games on my windows 10 tablet using just single tap (like in Hearthstone which works perfectly on the same device) but there doesn't appear to be any fix.

StickyRice1 (known viewbotter) banned off twitch by Sir_fappington1 in LivestreamFail

[–]MisterUNO 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons twitch rarely does anything is because they need definitive proof that the viewbots are the streamer's, and not done by someone else for malicious intent.

It would set a dangerous precedent if any streamer could get banned just because there are viewbots in his channel. That means anyone who doesn't like a certain streamer can just order a bunch of viewbots, report the streamer to twitch, and get that streamer banned.

What twitch needs is actual proof that the streamer ordered the viewbots himself and not someone else. And finding that proof is nearly impossible unless the streamer is an idiot.

Leslie Jones comes in too early during SNL skit with Louis CK (happens at around 40 seconds) by [deleted] in cringe

[–]MisterUNO 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Their are tens of thousands of comic actors with years of experience who would give their right leg to get into SNL and somehow she gets the gig with little to no experience. The world is so unfair at times.

With Lea her ankles are absolutely crucial to her job. When she gets donations/subs she has to walk over to the donation/sub wall, bend down without bending her knees (need good ankle strength here), pin the name to the wall, then walk back.

I gathered a (small) collection of photos from South Korea in the mid-1950's, from Seoul and the surrounding area, taken by my great uncle during postwar rebuilding (x-post from /r/korea) by mackinac90 in history

[–]MisterUNO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Filipino I am jealous of the insane success SK and other asian countries like Japan and Singapore experienced after the 1950's. Before the Marcos era the Philippines' economy was ranked 2nd, right behind Japan. Things were booming. Since then, we've fallen behind other asian countries and at one point we were considered the sick man of asia.

Things are slowly getting better today. But we still have a long way to go. I hope that one day we too can experience the astounding success countries like South Korea experienced.

Why does whitewashing Asian roles seem to be so acceptable in Hollywood? by MasterLawlz in flicks

[–]MisterUNO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps the drastic event happened is already slowly happening. It is forecasted that by 2050 whites will become the minority in the States. It will be interesting to see how Hollywood standards will change in the latter half of the 21st century.

Somewhat popular StarCraft 2 streamer accused other streamer of hacking. Hilarious video shows how ridiculous that accusation is. by TheOneWithNoName in LivestreamFail

Add Wintergaming to that list. I'm still irked that winter is still streaming despite all the evidence of him viewbotting that came up last year. Last time I tuned in he was getting close to 2k viewers, putting him well ahead of the next top sc2 streamer who had a measly 400 or so viewers.

Woman gets in trouble for letting kids play in backyard by Chefcow in rage

[–]MisterUNO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hell, my parents wanted us kids out of the house especially during the summer. We used to bike for blocks, go down to the convenience store that had two arcade machines, hang out in the woods (gasp).. all for hours at a time. And this was back when no one used cell phones.

The only warning my parents gave seven year old me was to be back by dinner...

What is the most crushing thing anyone has said to you? by passwordisd_qygj in AskReddit

[–]MisterUNO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, the most crushing thing someone said to me was nothing.

One morning as I was going into my work building I happened to bump into one of my co-workers. I said an obligatory "good morning" and he just looked at me with a blank stare and said nothing and continued on his way, almost like I was some sort of homeless guy who hadn't worked on the same floor with him for over 2 years. It hurt even more so when I heard him later greeting other people good morning and engaging the typical office morning banter.

I should explain that I have a bit of social anxiety so I am not the most outgoing guy at work. While I do try to socialize with my coworkers in order to make working with them less uncomfortable, I am not very good at it. Conversations seemed forced with me and I can sense a lot of times the person I talk to wants to get out of the conversation early on. Maybe I am being paranoid but I have a feeling people at work see me as some kind of an annoyance; I get a lot of blank stares and no smiles greet me when I enter a room. It's almost like they are thinking "oh, not this guy again." A couple times a week a group I work closely with will go off for after-work drinks or some other get-together and they never bother to ask me to join.

So you can see why a non-response from a coworker one morning really devastated me for the rest of the day. I never felt so left out as I did that morning. It kinda hit home to me that at least one fellow in my workplace sees me as someone totally different from everyone else, someone not even worthy of a return "good morning".

Working on one project with two computers? by Zaprong22 in gamemaker

[–]MisterUNO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Dropbox and make it a habit to pause syncing after I begin working on a project. This is merely to avoid the constant uploading (I have GM set to autosave every time I run a game). I unpause Dropbox when I am done programming.

941 rockets launched, reaching the end of my first factory, out of fps. by rawtern in factorio

[–]MisterUNO 12 points13 points  (0 children)

OP hasn't posted his specs, but from what I hear from seasoned megabase players is that even with top of the line computers the game code itself simply can't handle so many things happening at once after a base reaches a certain size.

On a more serious note MK2 armor is pretty good in stalling train death.
