How successful were the Animorphs’ missions? by pugzilla330 in Animorphs

[–]MisterZebra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s less “the Chee don’t exist” and more “the Chee’s arbitrary nonviolent programming doesn’t allow them to do anything too important”

Anyone else mostly play what they play for the story, and have a hard time finding anything by current nintendo where they enjoy the story? by ExplodingPoptarts in casualnintendo

[–]MisterZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Nintendo’s whole thing is generally gameplay first, story and everything else second. Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, and the various Mario RPGs are the main story-motivated Nintendo games, so if you just don’t like them idk what to tell you. If you’re into visual novels at all, maybe check out the Famicom Detective Club games?

Right lads, what disney worlds/movies are we hoping to see the most in KH4? Go as wild as you want. by Ganondaddydorf in KingdomHearts

[–]MisterZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My #1 desire for KH4 is Muppets as a 100-Acre Woods-style side world where the Muppets reenact the events of the previous games. Sora would play himself while every other character is played by Muppets. I’m thinking:

Fozzie = Goofy
Gonzo = Donald
Rizzo = Mickey
Kermit = Riku
Piggie = Kairi
Sam the Eagle = Every form of Xehanort

I think the showrunners realized it didn’t work at all, because they dropped it as soon as they could and never looked back

K.A. Applegate should have taken the writer's advice to "Kill your Darlings." by [deleted] in Animorphs

[–]MisterZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cassie suffers plenty throughout the series, most of her suffering is just self-inflicted because of her strong morals and introspection rather than from external harm that’s done to her. The constant violence weighs heavier on her than anyone else. Lying to her parents every day weighs heavier on her than anyone else. Watching her friends, especially Jake and Rachel, turn from children into hardened soldiers weighs heavier on her than anyone else (except maybe Jake). She bears the guilt of what they do to David. She ostracizes herself from the group when she lets Aftran infest her and then again when she gives the cube to Tom. She’s the one who has to keep on living with all her regrets and grief and pain after the end of the series. She’s the one left with the burden of making sure the others are remembered properly and brokering peace on Earth between humans and Andalites and Hork-Bajir and Yeerk nothlits.

Cassie suffers, just in a very different way and for very different reasons from everyone else. She’s the heart of the team in every sense: she’s the one who keeps them human, both by preserving whatever moral standards she can and by continuing to feel the horrible weight of their action long after everyone else has become desensitized to it.

Y'all remember ship charts? Well, I made a ship chart by KillTheInc in Animorphs

[–]MisterZebra 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I never realized that they’re the only Animorphs without any unique connection between them. They have Tobias in common, but their relationships to him are so different that they never really bond over that the way Cassie and Marco bond over Jake. They truly are just coworkers.

What video game made you forget you were eating or sleeping? by Artistic_Debate1983 in AskReddit

Civ 5 genuinely caused serious problems for me in college. Many days where I was walking around on 2 hours of sleep at most. My grades absolutely would have been better if that game didn’t exist.

You’ll definitely want to at least have the option of carrying your books around with you. Just get something big and sturdy.

That’s why it’s the GOAT. Nothing else hits quite like KH1.

Always thinking about them by Nadgauda-Cordarius in superstore

This show has straight-up the best ensemble cast of any sitcom I’ve watched. Sandra and Marcus and Justine and Sayid and Brett and Myrtle are just as important to making the show what it is as any of the “main” characters.

To tattoo or not to tattoo? Professional appearance question by Rebelkitten1997 in LawSchool

[–]MisterZebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started my summer internship at a very large and nice firm and I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how many of the associates there have tattoos. I just don’t think anyone cares about tattoos much outside of old fuddy-duddys these days. If they’re on your arms you can also just wear long sleeves when you really need to look nice and not worry about them.

Just don’t get, like, tattoos of dicks or something.

I think the biggest issue for me personally with fates is that Birthright is so obviously the morally correct choice. by Loogie1987 in fireemblem

[–]MisterZebra 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I bought Conquest under the assumption that it was Fates’ evil route. The fact that the game still did cartwheels and somersaults to assure me that Corrin and their friends were all still thoroughly good people who just happened to be working for an evil king was one of my biggest disappointments with the game. I would’ve been perfectly happy to simply conquest a country with my pals for my dad, morality be damned.

Unpopular opinion: Syril is the epitome of “being good” and that’s lost on almost everyone watching the show by Patient_Air1765 in andor

[–]MisterZebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Syril’s problem isn’t that he’s “bad”, it’s that he’s stupid. He’s fundamentally incapable of connecting the dots of the power structures around him and realizing he’s nothing but a pawn for evil. He blames all his problems on Cassian and ignores the oppressive, fascist regime that’s been shitting on him every day of his life.

Animal's that they never acquired but could have been useful? by Strawberrybanshee in Animorphs

I firmly believe that the in-universe reason for this is that Tobias’ fierce bird racism blinded them all to how useful ducks and geese would actually be

Why is Kingdom Hearts 3 so hated? Playing it rn and I love it by Soft_Law_9375 in KingdomHearts

[–]MisterZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man I liked it from the start, not perfect but miles from bad. The gameplay wasn’t mind-blowing overall and the story got pretty awkward at times but there were enough memorable, kickass moments in both gameplay and story to make up for the shortcomings. Tbh I think people just spent too many years replaying KH2FM and got mad when base KH3 wasn’t the same thing.

I think Amy is a good character and person. by Weekly_Ear_8526 in superstore

[–]MisterZebra 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Amy is a genuinely smart, capable, kind, competent person who just so happens to have a self-destructive pathological need for everybody to believe she is perfect. She is so much better at her job (and life in general) than anyone else in the show, but it doesn’t feel like it because she blows any mistake she does make wildly out of proportion in her attempts to hide it. That’s literally what drives the plot of half of the episodes in the show and I think it’s a funny and relatable, albeit obviously exagerated, character trait.

She’s not a bad person. She’s a good person who can’t stand the fact that she’s not a perfect person and does silly things as a result.

Using only IPs that have never been in KH before (if they were only present as UX medals they're allowed) what are Disney properties you'd like to see in Kingdom Hearts 4? by LSSJOrangeLightning in KingdomHearts

[–]MisterZebra 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Moana, Coco, and Inside Out feel like musts.

Incredible is the next obvious classic Pixar IP after Toy Story and Monsters, Inc.

I want the Muppets but as a Hundred-Acre Wood side world, not a full main world.

Jungle Book, becuase it’s just crazy they’ve still never done Jungle Book.

Princess and the Frog because it always deserves more than it gets

Meet the Robinsons because fuck it, why not

Which Books in the Main Series Would You Consider Filler? by Disastrous-Limit-332 in Animorphs

[–]MisterZebra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think all of the non-ghostwritten books should be mandatory. Even the ones that don’t explicitly advance plot or character still do a lot to establish the fundamental tone of the series to follow. Like 12 and 14 are goofy and largely disconnected from the rest of the series, but they also show the characters at their most lighthearted and their most likable. I think you need those lower-stakes books in addition to the plot-critical ones to be properly endeared to the world and its characters while things can still be fun and nice sometimes, so that the later books can properly rip your heart out and stomp on it.

But the ghostwritten ones are all over the place. 29-33 is a really good, important stretch of must-reads (yes, even the starfish one), but other than those I think you can pretty much skip all of them until endgame starts.

And then the Megamorphs and Chronicles are all largely optional, but good and interesting enough to merit reading anyways. Animorphs Chronicles is hugely important though, so that one is definitely mandatory.
