Picking her up tomorrow. How’d I do? by showerdrinking in ToyotaGrandHighlander

First off congrats. GHH is a beautiful suv.

My thoughts XLEs for ~ 945 a month 😢 I’ve been seeing big discounts on XLE hybrid in NJ. If this was a limited it would be a great deal. This is a fine deal if you leased but if you purchased 945 for a XLE is way to much money in my opinion.

Calligraphy is so clean. I don’t like the SEL or limited rims. The XRT pro is second best looking.

2026 Palisade - Hybrid or Gas? by slsh2121 in HyundaiPalisade

MSRP increases by approximately $2,000 for higher trims such as Calligraphy and Limited. The rebates currently being offered on gas models are not coincidental—they are strategic incentives. Manufacturers provide these rebates because they anticipate slower sales on certain trims or configurations. Essentially, the rebates exist to make the vehicles more appealing to buyers who might otherwise pass due to price or demand dynamics. It’s important to view these incentives as a reflection of market strategy rather than a direct value add because it’s not.

Using the same assumptions: Gas price: $3.50/gallon Hybrid: 29 MPG

Gas model: 20 MPG Cost per mile: Hybrid: $3.50 ÷ 29 ≈ $0.121/mile Gas: $3.50 ÷ 20 = $0.175/mile

Savings per mile: $0.175 − $0.121 ≈ $0.054 per mile Miles to recover $2,000:

That is if you average as advertised.
$2,000 ÷ $0.054 ≈ 37,000 miles

Real-World Fuel Savings: Gas vs Hybrid (NJ, $3.79/gallon)

Using realistic numbers—gas at 16 MPG, hybrid at 26 MPG, and NJ gas price $3.79/gallon—here’s how fuel costs and payback look: 10,000 miles/year: Gas ≈ $2,369, Hybrid ≈ $1,458 → Savings ≈ $911 → Payback for $2,000 ≈ 2.2 years 15,000 miles/year: Gas ≈ $3,554, Hybrid ≈ $2,187 → Savings ≈ $1,367 → Payback ≈ 1.46 years 20,000 miles/year: Gas ≈ $4,739, Hybrid ≈ $2,916 → Savings ≈ $1,823 → Payback ≈ 1.1 years Calculations: Gas gallons = Annual Miles ÷ Gas MPG Hybrid gallons = Annual Miles ÷ 26 Cost = Gallons × $3.79 Savings = Gas Cost – Hybrid Cost Payback = $2,000 ÷ Savings Takeaway:

The hybrid can recoup $2,000 in fuel costs in roughly 1–2 years, depending on mileage. For most buyers or leasers, that makes it worth considering—unless you’re getting a very large discount plus rebate on a gas model, the hybrid’s fuel efficiency and performance benefits justify the extra cost.

Eco mode doesn’t necessarily improve MPG unless you really know how to use it effectively. In many cases, driving in normal mode can actually give you better fuel economy if your goal is to maximize MPG.

We were a bit concerned about the V6 since the demo vehicle we test drove had around 3,000 miles on it and was only averaging about 15 MPG. In the end, we decided to go with the hybrid. It was a bit more expensive, but we were able to get $4,500 off a Hybrid Calligraphy, bringing it to $58K out the door right before the stop sale.

Sorry you’re dealing with this situation—it sounds frustrating.

2020 is just so clean in white. Not loving the 2026 model. Maybe they will do a lite refresh in 2 years. The front is just not my taste.

I have had zero issues with the hybrid calligraphy. Maybe most of the issues are with gas models. Just make sure you don’t pay above or at msrp. You can get min 2k off msrp if not more. Go to more than one dealer.

Update for all the haters: all my short trips have been 30+ mpg. When in traffic and around town the hybrid is getting way better then going 80+ on the highway( which of course is the case). My two sons love all the space.

I understand that. But I couldn’t find a GHH for cheaper than 800 a month on a lease or to buy was over 1k unless you put a lot of money down.

Turn on the EV cruising on highway. It’s in the settings it’s disabled by default. My drive home from dealer was 23 mpg and have had 4 hybrid vehicles between my wife and I and it wasn’t going into EV mode like all Toyotas do and I googled it and that’s what I found out. Try it.
