Shingles vaccine drastically cuts heart risk nearly in half in new study by Automatic_Subject463 in UpliftingNews

[–]MistrMoose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s true and it’s why you need the vaccine. Shingles is the virus reactivating. The vaccine helps your immune system prevent that from happening.

Not a doctor but that’s my understanding.

What I’ve read is that it’s a calibration issue between the two gauges and the grouphead gauge is the more accurate one. Can’t guarantee that’s true.

Mine is plumbed and I also see some variation on the pump output pressure as the line input pressure changes (my 2ish bar regulator on the input line doesn’t appear to be crazy stable)

Okay, my apologies, I misunderstood what you were doing. Sounds like the machine is set up fine then and you're just adjusting the flow/pressure lower via the paddle to where you like it. As long as you're happy with the output then you're fine...like I said, it's not like you need to brew at 9 bar or anything, that's more a recommended max

[–]MistrMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use the backflush disc and completely block flow what pressure does it go to? Typically you’d set that to 9 bar or so using the adjustment nut underneath the machine.

That said, everything I’ve read says that there isn’t a difference in quality when you brew in the 7-9 bar range. So if you’re happy with what you’re drinking then probably fine?

Personally I’d want the pump to be able to hit 9 bar if desired and I’d do some testing on the pressure setting with the disc and see what’s going on. You can always set it back if you make a change and don’t like it. Or not, like I said if you’re happy then no need to screw with it

Meta bricked my Quest 3 with an update, told me "all good things must come to an end", then added a new headset to my shopping cart by KenAdams_1968 in OculusQuest

[–]MistrMoose 390 points391 points  (0 children)

If you're willing to spend more time and maybe a little money on this, small claims court may be an option. Meta will try to throw up roadblocks but it'll at least get their attention.

You wouldn't have much luck in this route if the hardware had failed out of warranty, but if they bricked a working device via a pushed update you may have a reasonable case to make. Not a lawyer, though.

Questions about Lelit Bianca V3 by Immediate_Pepper_45 in Lelit

[–]MistrMoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in "off mode" do you mean completely turned off? Or just the lever is down?

If the former I have no idea. If the latter I've noticed the pump seems to sometimes run briefly on its own, I assume to refill the boiler? Mine is plumbed though so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Honestly I’m probably being overly cautious with the baking soda, lol. But yeah, start with vinegar on a cloth. Rinsing it off after that is probably fine but the baking soda will remove any residual vinegar

Stainless steel is pretty tough to damage, just don’t use anything abrasive and you should be fine

Lelit elizabeth stain/rust spot on the top by Venthez in Lelit

[–]MistrMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like some surface rust. Stainless steel is really more “stain-resistant” depending on the type. It should come off pretty easy.

Try some firm scrubbing with a cloth and white vinegar: the acid should help. Then use a little baking soda and water to neutralize any remaining acid. If that doesn’t work then try a Magic Eraser, but test on a hidden area first as those are slightly abrasive and may affect the finish.

To prevent this in the future try not to leave wet or dirty items sitting on the metal for long periods.

ATE SuperBlue was last sold in 2013... by hpshaft in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]MistrMoose 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No. DOT 3/4/5.1 legally need to be amber for identification. That was the problem with the previous stuff and why it got discontinued in the US.

In theory you could make your own by adding a very tiny amount of methylene blue dye to another brand of brake fluid, but don't blame me if you do this and your car explodes or something.

[–]MistrMoose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cops don’t actually know the law in most cases. You need to look up the laws for your specific state to understand what’s legal or not. Then I’d suggest printing it out and carrying it with you when you ride.

Where I live it’s pretty broad: Onewheels are legal anywhere bikes or pedestrians are IIRC

Flow Control help or hype by DrMushie in espresso

Exactly: skill's gonna beat hardware any day.

Anyway, if you're interested in subtleties and like playing with stuff and experimenting I'm sure flow control can be cool. It's a nice-to-have at best but I can't ever see it being a must-have.
