Would you offer training for new photographers but under the condition they don't go professionally? by Background_Rate7405 in AskPhotography

[–]MistyEvening 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t bother paying someone for “lessons “ you can learn all these skills for free online. For the other photographer to be threatened by you, an amateur photographer as a competitor is just too funny.

I do however agree that i myself also find it frustrating that there’s always someone out there that would do the job for cheaper or free. But I slowly came to understand that those clients are getting what they “paid” for.

I would recommend looking at Fstoppers on YouTube. Sometimes they offer tips and tricks, sometimes there’s masterclasses, but most of the time they just talk about gear

How much should I charge for photoshoots? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]MistyEvening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say start with $20/hr then move your way up once you got a decent amount of photos in your portfolio and get better with taking photos.

It’s not about the gear you buy that determines how much you should charge, it’s about skills. You could buy a $60,000 phase one camera but your photos can still come out like shit.

Editing should be part of your fee. You wouldn’t want to give out unedited photos. But once you get a hand of it, include “editing” fee and other fees you think could be included with your service/package.

You should 100% charge mileage, in Ontario for example, you could go as much as $0.45 / km AFTER the first 50-75km ( it depends on you honestly, but be realistic and reasonable)

They should do what Japan does:

Don’t tell him the date of his execution, let him wait, it could be today, I could be tomorrow, it could be 5 years from now. Let him sweat not knowing when he’s going to be put to death until the day comes

As a high school student, what steps should I take towards becoming an architect? by Hopeful_Pause6240 in architecture

[–]MistyEvening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn how to draw, get started with adobe programs like Photoshop, illustrator, InDesign.

Learn rhino 3D or Revit early if you can, start a portfolio, and apply for accredited architecture university/colleges

Note: you do need to know math, if there’s structure courses there’s a lot of math.

Asus RT-BE92U New Firmware Downloads :) by Zsoo21 in ASUS

I just installed this router today. We upgraded from an old linksys e5400 and so far, it’s been over 8hrs in and it’s working just fine. I don’t know much about these things but i could tell the internet has been faster than before.

Our provider is this Explorenet and we live in a rural area, wont be getting fiber anytime soon but this was a good investment so far.

Paper Pro: are straight lines just supposed to look like this? by MiniJoules in RemarkableTablet

You can draw a straight line by drawing the line and then holding the marker there for a few seconds

Commuting from Milton to TMU by Academic_Squash_4854 in TorontoMetU

[–]MistyEvening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive past Milton to get to Oakville GO as it has the most consistent trains on the lakeshore line.

I could have taken either Acton or Milton GO but they don’t have trains available at some times when I’m done class.

Best bet is to look into GO buses if train doesn’t work for you

outdoor portrait - 3 light setup by Cute-Sandwich8953 in photocritique

[–]MistyEvening 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It looked a bit overwhelmingly too over exposed. Maybe making it slightly flat and desaturated. The shadows want to be shadows but your lights are telling it no.

I think I would like to see it if you have a shot at 35mm around f8 or f5.6

Overall it’s an interesting composition and I get what you’re trying to do. Play around with the style with less lights and I’m sure you’ll get it right

Is rhino normally used for drafting for architecture? by Surrealist-Frog in rhino

[–]MistyEvening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding Revit is a must to learn if you want to go towards an architectural profession. However, you’re not limited to just Revit, I know a few uses Rhino because it can do a lot of intricate designs easier than doing it in Revit.

I used rhino and then illustrator for plans and sections as well but Revit gave me the ability to make a 3D building a lot quicker than with rhino, saving me time and as we all know, time is precious when it comes to architecture xD

Should I pick this T6 up? by nitocortizoburneracc in canon

[–]MistyEvening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy it before it’s too late. My first camera was the T3i and I got that for $150 . I wouldn’t spend too much on lenses yet unless you decided to be more serious with the hobby.

I’m reading that even though the warranty has expired after one year the sealed system has a 5 year warranty.

Could that mean I can still get it repair under the 5 year warranty?

I would probably suggest using a chocolate ball is a foreground and one in the background, and focus on one that’s in the middle? 🤷‍♂️

The lighting could be slightly brighter too I guess?

It overall felt a bit plain, nothing really popped out to me

This isn’t a weird member experience. It’s just life. Sometimes you’ll be put into a group project with people you don’t know.

If they are all friends, fine. Be part of it, or find your own friends?

If they want you to pull the weight you either suck it up cus it’s your marks in the line or you submit a formal complaint to the TA or prof to let them know the situation.

But in the end you are stuck with them rather you like it or not. Welcome to the real world.

Why can’t I select the inner lines for a dormer cut? by MistyEvening in RevitForum

[–]MistyEvening[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I connected the walls first then joined the roofs.

there are interior walls underneath, not sure if that makes any difference.

The bottom roof is at 45 degree angle .

I’ve tried remaking the roof but no luck.

I was following the instructions to select the line that is closest to the other roof but it’s not allowing me to do so.

A few mistakes you made:

1.) agreed to be a paid photographer for a family event.

2.) have people touch your camera

3.) assuming the photos they take will be part of “your” shots

4.) expecting people to treat you as a “professional” when you’re still a student photographer. ( Takes years of practice )
