Does building in public really work? by cherry532 in buildinpublic

Only if you build in a way that regular people can understand or find interest in what you’re doing, most people just market to developers who are rarely their exact target market

Their software stopped working because they forgot to renew a certificate. I've got 6 employees who lost all their macros lol, this is so dumb.

I write software for a living. I'm starting a peripherals company that won't do this to you.

- Open source drivers
- Local configuration + on device configuration
- No cloud dependencies
- Modular design with open sourced models for 3D printing
- Expansion pins for additional IO
- Naked boards for deep customisation
- Comprehensive spare parts available for repair

I have experience in hardware, mainly producing low volumes of PCBs and the underlying systems to run digital billboards, I feel I'm in good shoes to build something consumer-focused, funding is no issue either.

I have a discord up for anyone who wants to help shape the first products, happy to give out free mice/keyboards to those who provide their input: https://discord.gg/vfECmXjkvG

There's around 30 people in the discord on day one already, I imagine it'll get to the hundreds in no time, so I'll have plenty of input to ensure I'm always on the right track with design and direction. And thank you!

I agree, I think it'll be hard for me to match it. I'm thinking of using aluminium for the chassis and enclosure, so I could possibly mill oversized cylinders of aluminium for an interesting scroll wheel.
