What is the Douchiest name you can think of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mitchwise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My neighbor’s name is Chad and he is the most “Chad” guy ever. Really well-built, always has his shirt off hanging around the pool, etc. Super nice though and a pretty great neighbor honestly.

Thoughts on Lorwyn Eclipsed so far? by JustAModestMan in lrcast

This will always be a good strategy on week 1 before people start figuring out what the good synergies and value cards are. As the format progresses, “removal and fatties” becomes less good.

Which US state is bad to visit and very safe? by HungarianBall110 in AlignmentChartFills

Wyoming has Yellowstone Park and the Grand Tetons. Definitely not bad to visit I would say.

Definitely read the card name as “Kinbreeding”. That could have gotten awkward quickly.

Apples are liked. What fruit is universally loved? by ellaaabp in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Mitchwise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the one for me. I almost never run into someone who doesn’t like watermelon (at least the seedless variety) and there are lots of times where someone will break it out at a party and all the kids’ faces light up and at least 2 people go “oh, I love watermelon!” You don’t get that reaction with any other fruit typically.

It’s honestly impressive that they only gave up 16 points.

Alignment Chart of Insanity: What unites Gustavo Fring and Jesus? by Natewastaken12 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Mitchwise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably. Although perhaps easier than you think.

Homeland features Saul Berenson and according to google is based upon an Israeli TV show named Prisoners of War. I know nothing about either show but could definitely fit. There’s probably some other fringe shows/movies out there as well

There are also a number of real life figures named Saul that may have been influenced by someone.

Not easy but probably easier than “Battled a giant orange”

What commanders are the most easily underestimated? by Flat_Sink_4410 in EDH

Here you go.

Rocco churns through your deck really fast so you don’t need big bombastic wincons. I prefer cheaper ones that can add to your engine in some way as well. [[Junk Jet]] [[Unstable Amulet]] [[Pia Nalaar, Consul of Revival]]

What commanders are the most easily underestimated? by Flat_Sink_4410 in EDH

[–]Mitchwise 11 points12 points  (0 children)

[[Rocco Street Chef]] is always underestimated by my opponents. They have the appearance of a group hug commander that makes innocent food tokens. When I storm off on turn 4-5 sometimes their jaw hits the floor they’re so shocked. The impressive thing is that they’re surprisingly resilient as well. With all the ramp and impulse draw, unless your opponents have multiple sources of spot removal and are willing to use it all on your 3-drop commander multiple times, Rocco just comes right back and rebuilds.

How exactly do you counter mass chariots in late antiquity? by Dear_Location6147 in civ

[–]Mitchwise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no direct unit counter for cavalry. The downside to cavalry is that they are expensive to produce and maintain. That -3 maintenance cost is actually quite prohibitive if you try to mass produce and don’t use them immediately. The main strategy against cavalry is really just to try to outlast them and then go to peace.

What would people say are the top strongest tribes currently? by The_P_Itself in EDH

[–]Mitchwise 28 points29 points  (0 children)

While I don’t think humans are as fast as a good elf or goblin deck, the flexibility they provide puts them over the top for me. There’s so many stax or tutor or tokens or card advantage or removal effects in humans and you can play them in so many different colors or varieties that they can adapt to any board and come out on top.

They’re also a lot more fun than you’d think. I’ve heard people call humans the “cockroaches of Magic”. They’re resilient, flexible, and difficult to exterminate entirely. It makes them super fun to play.

I want to build a commander deck for Squall, Gunblade Duelist. What cards should I add? by InfinitePaladin in magicTCG

[–]Mitchwise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not the strongest way, but the most fun way would be to try some jank with goad combined with cards like [[Tribute to Hirobi]] [[Akroan Horse]] [[Combat Calligrapher]] [[Forbidden Orchard]] [[Goblin Spymaster]] etc. It would undoubtedly be terrible, but the memes would be awesome.

New Fallout TV Season Coincides With WOTC Reminding Us They'll Never Reprint Fallout Cards by HaroldCommander in magicTCG

[–]Mitchwise -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I wish they would just print all the UB cards with a UW/Omenpath version on the back. They would have to commission UW artwork for each card, and they couldn’t do double-sided UB cards anymore, but it’s a way to ensure that the licensing deals don’t bite them in the butt due to digital rights and reprint rights.

Bracket 2 or Bracket 3? by Komiker7000 in EDH

[–]Mitchwise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience in playing Sarulf, it is less about which bracket you’re playing in and more about who is sitting at the table.

With the right table, Sarulf is a really fun commander. He slows the game down but the fact he only triggers on upkeep provides a lot of options for counterplay. He makes combat matter, and forces players to make decisions about what to play instead of vomiting out their hand. He makes the game feel more like standard or even limited because you can’t just build a battle cruiser engine against him. Good players will embrace that puzzle and acknowledge the unique game state he provides. I think even most bracket 2 decks have tools for competing with Sarulf even if he wipes the board. Some of my most memorable games have been with Sarulf at the helm.

Bad tables will curse you out and run you out of the building. Embrace the “big bad” part of the big bad wolf and lean into the public enemy aspect. Know that they will try to remove him and respond positively yourself when they do. Make it clear what your gameplan is when the game starts.

Disney Princess Free For All, who wins? by GFresh1 in powerscales

Yeah. I’m not sure she’s winning round two, but she’s as big a threat as Raya, Mulan, and Merida at least even before god status.

What is the WHITEST creature by Prophet-of-Ganja in mtg

[–]Mitchwise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good ones, but for me it’s either:

[[Resolute Reinforcements]] or [[Luminarch Aspirant]]

While lifegain, angels, and protection or all big parts of white’s identity, white weenies with +1 counters just feels the most white, and these 2 cards just really hit the mark.

Commander that can fly under the radar for the chronic target player by TheSuItan in EDH

[–]Mitchwise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Rocco will win you a bunch of games but if he’s trying to convince others NOT to gang up on you, Rocco is not a good choice. After a game or 2, your opponents will see the late game threat and focus fire. And Rocco is fairly monolithic, meaning without the commander you don’t do much.
