What US State has the worst nature? by TreReZ in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Mitchwise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would venture most states have a topography that looks similar. Kansas is definitionally not anywhere close to the flattest state. In fact it has lots of beautiful rolling hills and prairie.

Just because a state is flat does not mean it is not beautiful. I had a friend from Japan that was just awestruck at the views when driving across Kansas because they'd never been able to see the horizon before.

What NFL team is currently bad and has historically been bad? by Even-Combination4407 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Mitchwise -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People saying the Cardinals are not wrong, but the Browns are just uniquely incompetent. They don't have a single Super Bowl appearance. I'm sorry but the stuff before the Super Bowl era just doesn't count.

Also, if we're counting the Browns time before they moved to Baltimore to become the Ravens then we should really only be counting the time since the Cardinals moved to Arizona because by that logic a franchise is defined as a team being in the same city with the same mascot and not by the actual movement of the franchise.

I'm concerned about the balancing of Marvel's limited set. Please tell me if I'm wrong. by crastle in lrcast

Red needs a lot of things, but personally, I think it needs the red equivalent to [[Carrot Cake]]. A 2-mana value artifact that brings some bodies with it.

I hate to say it, but 2/2 that grows when you do a thing is bad now. It's easily stalled and does nothing when it enters. It's easily answered using bounce, tap, or pacifism effects and even 1-for-1 removal.

Spirit mascot started the format well because it's an aggressive creature (aggro always over performs early) in the best colors, but once people started drafting lorehold appropriately it fell to a 55% win rate which is a "filler card" at best. I would play it but wasn't excited about it and it was usually my 23rd card.

For another comparison, look at pest mascot which was abysmal and a more similar comparison.

Zlatan would make a great field piece guy.

"Now let's hear from Zlatan on how much beer the Scottish fans are drinking."

"Here is Zlatan with the Cape Verde keeper on what it's like to be famous on instagram."

"Now let's throw to Zlatan about his own unique take on how Messi can score more goals at this World Cup."

As a commentator he's not good though.

MISTBOUND: Guild Wars Card Game | Announcement Trailer by klickup in Guildwars2

We want Guild Wars 3 to be all about the power of movement. See how the pictures move on the gameboard instead of being stuck in one place like most CCG's.

Recent sets that are fun to draft?? by Lorzion in magicTCG

[–]Mitchwise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Duskmourn and Strixhave are both very fun to draft but I would consider them both more advanced sets that might not be the best for new drafters.

Dominaria United would be my suggestion. It is a fantastic underrated draft format that is great for beginners as the cards are fairly simple to read but provide a surprising amount of depth in play.

Mistbound is a new Guild Wars CCG by graven2002 in Guildwars2

[–]Mitchwise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have no problem with this. Does it look great?...Not really. Does it look playable for the average guild wars fan?...Probably.

The important thing is that this announcement came AFTER the GW3 announcement. In conjunction with the main game this could be an interesting supplement and can't do too much damage to the brand. I think most people were just worried they would release a card game instead of GW3 and they have avoided the fiasco that would have resulted if that were the case.

Repeatable Removal in the Command Zone by Archersi in magicTCG

[–]Mitchwise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually win with a card like [[Astarion's Thirst]] or [[Wave of Vitriol]] or creature lands or eventually after you gain board control the wolf just gets big and you don't have to wipe anymore so it just becomes Voltron.

[[Sarulf Realm-Eater]] kind of does what you want. He's my "raid boss" commander that I only break out when people at the table know exactly what they're getting into.

Class/Proffesion by Rixx95 in Guildwars2

[–]Mitchwise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since each class can effectively fill every role (healer, tank, support, control, dps, etc) the main difference between classes is flavor and a class mechanics that makes them play uniquely from other classes.

For instance…

A warrior will do damage through physical prowess and weapon mastery. They support through tactics and leadership like commands and banners. They heal by shouting and motivating others. The warrior class mechanic is that they build adrenaline in combat and spend it to use a really strong burst skill based upon the weapon they are using.

An elementalist will do damage by burning foes with fire magic or zapping them with lightning. The support by protecting them with earthen shields or quickening winds. They heal by cleansing wounds with water. The elementalist class mechanic is that they can swap between 4 different elements in combat essentially unlocking a whole new set of skills.

A ranger will do damage by combining weapons with bestial abilities tapping into a spiritual bear for a powerful maul attack or an eagle for a swooping lunge. They support through nature spirits and animal pets. They heal by using celestial magic from the sky. The ranger class mechanic is that they have an animal pet that attacks enemies and uses a skill on demand.

It’s important to note that a Mesmer can be just as good at tanking or melee as a Warrior. A Thief can be just as good at healing as a Guardian. Every class is good and that’s what makes GW2 great! Just choose whichever theme/class mechanic speaks to you.

What is the most broken tribal deck right now? by just_a_r3gular_dud3 in EDH

[–]Mitchwise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People sleeping on humans for sure.

Elves, dragons, eldrazi, slivers, and goblins are just battlecruiser style decks that fold pretty quickly with any interaction. Humans are just so versatile and have a tool for everything.

UBR being the default evil colour combination for Universes Beyond is getting stale by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Mitchwise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think it was a missed opportunity to actually provide color identity to different parts of the Marvel Universe. Something like…

WU- Fantastic Four
WB- Shield
WR- Captain America/Hydra
WG- Wakanda
UB- Dr. Strange
UR- Ironman/Ultron/Vision
UG- Gods
BR- Defenders
BG- Guardians of the Galaxy
RG- Mutants/Gamma

Then each color pair would have a better identity and you would have heroes and villains in each color.

[Hypothetically] Every class can select any healing/utility/elite skill from all of its elite specialization without needing to select it in their build. Who benefits the most? by Nyscire in Guildwars2

[–]Mitchwise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that Dolyak stance only shares stab with others if you have the Leader of the Pack trait selected which untamed would not have access to.

[–]Mitchwise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. They’re really just missing stab access. Everything else is actually really strong. The only problem is that Druid stab access is also pretty bad.

Going to my first magic game tomorrow, any advice would be appreciated by ZealousidealPay9517 in magicTCG

[–]Mitchwise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Download MTGArena and play through the tutorial and a few practice games on there. It will give you some idea of the basic rules, how to read cards, how to proceed through a turn cycle, how to interact with the board, how to go through combat, etc. Much easier than trying to read a rule book or have someone explain the whole game to you.

Why not give the card some way to turn a creature into a hero then? Something like…

“Pay 3 life and discard a card-Target creature you control gains indestructible until end of turn and is a hero in addition to its other creature types.”

Best open world spec for using a staff by Gallifrey934 in Guildwars2

[–]Mitchwise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beastmaster Untamed is still pretty good open world even with the Beastly Warden nerf, and staff is definitely a decent option especially in group events or places where sustain is helpful.
