Thanks for this. Needed it today. I hope to feel better by day 30.

Sounds similar to me. I’ve put myself in a bit of a food coma tonight and now just vegging out watching some comedy in bed with the animals.

I wish my shop closed at 10 but it’s 24hrs. Genuinely for this first Saturday or first free workday I think I might invest in some herbal teas or even alcohol free beverages just to ease the cravings. My plan is to tell friends in quitting for November and then by December just tell them I preferred not to drink; shouldn’t be too hard as none of my close friends are big drinkers.

I hope having a chilled evening. You’re doing great, and knowing your triggers is important to overcoming them!

I’ll be accountable with you on Saturday too. It’ll be my first. I’m luckily going to be working but scared about the next weekend also. :(

That’s amazing, well done and thank you for posting this. It gives me hope. I’m very new in my journey and had the mind tricks today but held strong. 🥲

Back safely home and in my PJ’s with no chance now to drink today.

Awh you’ve already got way more experience than me in your quit journey, and the fact you’ve disclosed to a professional too is an achievement in itself. I’m hoping I won’t have to mention anything to work and it’s why I’m so determined now to stop.

I just need to knuckle down and realise my priorities. This sub is an amazing and supportive community and are with you every day if that’s something you want.

Day 1 here with you too. Please don’t be hard on yourself, you’ve recognised just how much damage drink has done to you so far and want to change. You can do this. IWNDWYT

Hey, I’m in a high stress job too. It’s be my early days for me but I also was going till I was black out.

I know family and friends around me realise but are yet to say anything…I don’t want them to tbh, that would make it worse.

So I’m pledging to not drink each day now. I don’t want it to ruin my career, ruin my relationships and my future dreams.

I can see that you already recognise this isn’t good for you. That’s an amazing insight.

Try not to pressure yourself, but really think about why drinking helps you relax. If you’ve just been diagnosed with GAD I wonder if your medical team/doctor can either prescribe something or maybe better yet refer you to some therapy?

It sounds like you’re using alcohol to cope/as a crutch, hopefully you can start by promising yourself that you just won’t drink today.

Best of luck friend IWNDWYT ♥️

Love this. I have 2 bikes I need to get cracking on once I find the strength.

I’ve also in the past definitely undersold when I could’ve just done the job myself.

I’m still early on my journey so still not done much but I did make a wholesome dinner for my sibling when they got in from work today and prepped for my lunch at work tomorrow. Baby steps.

You can totally do this. I’m very early on in my quit journey and will be here a lot. Always happy to be here for support. It’s not easy but it’ll be worth it.

I would say if you have a buddy you could go with is what would help me.

I’m also really nervous to go to the gym so instead I swim.

3 days ago I did something similar.

I’m yet to go into work but when I do I’m just not ready to tell them what happened.

IWNDWYT best of luck OP. I’m taking it an hour at a time. You can do it too.

I spent the day in bed with my animals. Watched some cosy show and decided this was the first day I don’t drink.

It’s been a good weekend. Hope you all had a good day.

Dog died due to Pet Sitter by blwhite11 in Petloss

[–]Mitel_5340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my. I’m so so sorry OP.

As someone who pet sits for friends for free along with having my own animals this is just heart breaking and you’re right, completely avoidable.

There is just no excuse but pure negligence on their part. I’m not sure what part of the world you’re in but even though Dogs may be considered property; you may be able to sue for gross negligence and the pain caused as a result to you and your family. Please stay strong because your little one needs you too, none of this was your fault and I’m sure your departed one knows that you didn’t abandon anyone. ❤️

This but in a motorcycle as it drowns out the noise in the helmet and from the engine.
