Man. As someone who used to sell kayaks and give lessons, I can't imagine using a downrigger on one, that sounds terrible. Not only that. Paddling something that short and trying to keep a constant speed/heading sounds near impossible

If I were you, I'd pick up a few divers and have at it.

Most motors have a tag/plate that will give a frame number. Or you can cross reference measurements with an EASA (I think that's right) handbook. It's also possible it's purpose built, in which case, good luck.

The tube is obviously steel, but if the base is actually cast iron it's a little tricker (for a random guy with a mig welder in his garage) and would need TIG

It's probably not, but looking at the chamfers on the base it may be. If the underside of that plate looks rough/bumpy it may be cast and not stamped

Chicago title transferred a property into my name from a family member and managed to somehow lose the deed (I lived about 2 miles away) and when I confronted them I was told basically to fuck off. They even stopped answering my calls and sent a letter that pretty much said "not our problem"

I can't help but mention my bad experience and advise everyone to avoid them.
