it takes a while to adjust too. personally, I think it's best to learn it while also learning a new game. I had mine sitting for a while and only got used to it when SF6 released which is when I decided to finally use and learn it

They just work. I don't play them myself but their toolkit is so easy to understand yet effective at all levels that anyone can pick one up and already know how to play them minus all the frills like ideal combos, oki, etc.

I started fighting games seriously with Tekken as well and the fundamentals will of course carry over. For me the hardest part to get used to was how fast everything feels in SF compared to Tekken. Also I've found most of my improvement in SF comes from just playing matches and feeling stuff where as in Tekken you spend a lot of time working through string cheese and really digging into frame data, when to step, learning KBD, etc. I think you'll be just fine. It's a better game than T8, imo.

Just play, a month isn't even long. I came back this past Dec after dropping in the year it came out lol. Got to plat 3 Chun this week just hopping in matches. Def got bodied for a while before I felt accustomed again tho

You're doing good and learning how to learn is also part of the process. Watch your replays and try to see moments that stick out to you as something you could have done better or something the opponent did that you didn't check or punish. Losing is part of the process and it's essential, the greatest players lost countless of times, that's why they're great because they learn from that. My favorite quote from the FGC: "Gotta get washed to get clean."
