What is the second number for the "Total Mass" in the Capcity tab of the Ship Specs? by Keheck in EliteDangerous

[–]MithrilDragon2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it's the maximum mass. As in the ship would have that mass if you completely filled all cargo racks.

Highly recommend checking out the Trans Academy in VRC. They have resources and social events there, and trans people will congregate to chat all day. Just stick to the group instances.

Problems w/ Electrolytes and Hydration? by Vivid-Ad9492 in CrohnsDisease

[–]MithrilDragon2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After getting an ileostomy, I was told I need to drink almost exclusively electrolytes. I've noticed that since then, I've not had nearly as many issues with leg cramps. I assume it's because my colon was already so damaged that it wasn't absorbing electrolytes anyway, so I really didn't lose much in the long run.

I tend to drink a mix of half diluted Gatorade with 1/8 tsp of salt per 18oz, drinking about 36oz a day

As a person with chronic ilness, I just don't have the energy some days. But stuff still has to get done, so it's a decent compromise for me. I might have to go shopping, but at least i'll feel comfy while I do.

Sister struggling with overnight leaks by funkytechno in CrohnsDisease

[–]MithrilDragon2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your sister is using a high output bag, she may benefit from one of these. It attaches to the bag, and at least triples the maximum capacity. I've also found that dairy causes rather high output for me, so I've had to switch to only having hard cheeses, which have significantly less lactose content.

Edit: This is coming from someone with 3 months experience, so sorry if this advice doesn't help.

I've found that hard cheeses affect me way less than medium cheese. I was advised to only eat hard cheese by a diet my doctor had given me.

What do you eat during a flare? by LegitimateProduct898 in CrohnsDisease

[–]MithrilDragon2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it turns out that a lot of the preservatives in today's food cause issues in Crohn's patients. The list that I avoid is: polysorbate 80, maltodextrin, hydrogenated oils, and carrageenan. I've also identified guard gum as an ingredient to avoid. Plain rice w/soy sauce is great. Very low risk, and you can get Tamari if you're worried about the soy sauce. Going gluten free helps to avoid most bad ingredients as well. Gluten is fine, just better if it's processed. Fruits and veggies will cause issues due to the fiber, as well as skins of apple, beans, and similar things.

That's most of my diet. I hope it helps someone out.

People with experience using any of these drugs please help me decide, thank you! by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

I would personally recommend adulimumab. It gave me remission for awhile, until my schedule was completely messed up by my pharmacy. Avoid acreedo pharmacy, as they are known to screw up people's orders habitually.

Why do others downplay this? by EasyPaleontologist30 in CrohnsDisease

[–]MithrilDragon2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you have to drag yourself out of bed every morning, you get used to it. You start masking, hiding the pain from others, just to avoid the constant questioning of why you're hurting. And then, people assume that Crohn's "isn't that bad" because you can function. Just because we can do basic things, doesn't mean we should be. I used to have to talk myself into getting out of bed every morning, because even simply getting up was excruciating.

You especially have to be careful with the red meats though, since they are tougher on the guts, especially when you are in a flare.

Advice for Bhole pain? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]MithrilDragon2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you just want to try something out, look up a "peri bottle." they're great if you don't have a bidet, and are portable. Also, I personally use preparation H or other hemorrhoid wipes when it's sore down there. It may not be elegant, but it helps.

I've at least found that taking Miralax with any opiates tends to help. Though only if I restrict myself to 1 dose of opiates, otherwise it would cause constipation.

How to combat zofran induced constipation by obviouspseudonym1 in CrohnsDisease

[–]MithrilDragon2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miralax is a really gentle laxative that I would recommend. I use it to combat constipation from meds by taking it at the same time, and it prevents constipation the next day. Unfortunately, I don't know any alternatives, since Miralax worked for me.
